August 2, 20223 yr I don't know about this one, I just don't see the point, unless we see him becoming something really special. If he's coming in to the team right now, then we are incredibly stacked in that area. Kante, Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, Gallagher and now Chukwuemeka. 5 players competing for one spot and not all of them will get game time. There are many possibilities. 1) Their are rumours around Loftus-Cheek, but he apparently doesn't want to leave. He could also be converted into a RWB this season. 2) Gallagher, maybe Tuchel isn't a fan and doesn't rate him highly. 3) Kante could be leaving on a free next season, maybe Chukwuemeka is a planned future replacement.

I expect it's the bit in bold. And I expect we'd be looking for those players to be competing for the two positions in midfield and moving away from a holding jorginho type player. Add in that Kante will be gone in 12 months.
August 2, 20223 yr Author contract for Chukwuemeka will be till 2028 and he's suppose to go into the first team immediately, TT has convinced him to come to bring energy into the midfield
August 2, 20223 yr Just a crap RLC, pointless signing! Would of been great if he was even close to 14% of Mikel. I'm guessing a loan to Wrexham next season. Was probably even overlooked by Forest! Keep it up Chelsea..
August 2, 20223 yr Well, just about the least marketable name in the history of football. Performances are all that matters though and as others have mentioned Villa fans have spoken HIGHLY of him, curious but not going to jump on any kind of hype train, we’ve been burnt too many times before. It’s a nice wild card to have at just £20m rather than break the bank on a Bellingham type.
August 2, 20223 yr bit of a surprise signing. I’ve seen him play a few times for Villa last season seemed ok but do we really need to overpay for him (2 installments of 10 mill his current value is 6) then loan his services out. One does have to ask if not a loan where will he feature for CFC especially as Gallagher just earned his stripes. Hopefully he works out better than the last upcoming next best prospect we bought young from the Black Country nearly a decade ago. this chap who’s now club less.

I think you are one of the biggest proponents of utilizing our Academy and youth. I really don’t think that utilizing our youth more is going to result in success like you think it may. We’ve only really had two youth players who have come in and become important for the first team. Mount and James. Tammy for a little bit. To me it seems like the argument for using our Academy and youth is kind of a cop out. There’s no other big teams in the PL who are utilizing their youth. It’s all one player here and there. Everyone is buying players. In fact, I feel like I read somewhere that Chelsea utilize more of the Academy than most big teams in the PL. I doubt that Chelsea regrets any of the sales they’ve made recently when it comes to Academy players. Even Tomori, Who has probably been the best of the bunch who have been sold, You can make the argument that he’s playing in an easier league. The same argument that people make regarding Lukaku success in Italy and his failure here. I realize my opinion is contrarian here, but I’m totally fine selling Academy players. The trophy cabinet speaks for itself.

Never was Brown's biggest fan and did not think he had enough to his game to make it at us, however he has been incredibly unlucky with injuries.
August 3, 20223 yr Needs to bulk up and learn how to use his hands for support and balance. A raw Yaya Toure-type player iirc
August 3, 20223 yr His languid dribbling style and dominant physique has drawn comparisons to Paul Pogba, probably most similarly to Pogba in his time at Juventus as someone who drives the team forward with his ability to carry the ball while also possessing that flair which he demonstrates in his final third play.
August 3, 20223 yr Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Aston Villa teenager Carney Chukwuemeka [18] for £20m.
August 3, 20223 yr I am a fan of Gallagher based on how he played all season long at CP but I have to say that he hasn't really covered himself in glory in preseason. RLC has had plenty of opportunity and its clear he isn't likely to be more than a bit player in midfield even though on his day he can be dominant. Increasing the overall energy level in the team and the risk taking, generally achieved by bringing in a few younger players is a good thing to do and will improve the team. The younger guys generally don't have so much fear, fear of making mistakes. Cucurella has energy, Sterling has energy, Koulibaly has nearly as much energy as Rudigier. I think there is room for a talented young player to make things happen in midfield but no doubt there will be some costly mistakes along the way. This is the sort of risk the club should take in my view more PL experience than Harvey Vale. Well done Chelsea.
August 3, 20223 yr Interesting signing, not even a rumour and we wrapped it up ( assume he doesn't change his mind and wants to go to Barca). Boehly finally had some success with his hands on approach We are potentially losing both Kante and Jorginho next year, so it's good we are working on replacements in adavance should that happen.
August 3, 20223 yr Barcelona never saw this coming! I like his style - plays with his head up and covers ground very well. Interesting signing and one to watch.
August 3, 20223 yr Potentially a tip top signing, shows good market awareness by the club. The price reflects him having already made his PL debut and expectations to improve. If in 3/4 years he develops into a top player, it will be seen as 20m well spent. Like all young players though, he may not hit the expected heights, the addons won’t kick in and he will be sold without significant loss. Win win.

Todd Boehly made contact with Aston Villa last Friday before reaching an agreement on an initial fee of £10M with a further £10M in potential add-ons. [via @JacobSteinberg] @Zeta maybe this explains it? More of a kill 2 birds with one stone type of thing. OK we have an interest but let's get one up on them as well? Because to be honest, everyone knows what Barca has done to us this summer, nevertheless their attractiveness and standing historically in the game compared to us, is embarrassing.

August 3, 20223 yr I have to confess, I had NEVER heard of this kid until 5.30pm last night. I have had a good look at Youtube posts, including those on this thread and I am amazed. He has poise, strength, two good feet and is clearly a strong fella. I think most impressive is his ability to pick the ball up and drive forwards with it, something that we have been desperately missing since Hazard left. The "end product" needs honing but I just pray that he is not sent out on a meaningless loan to Reading and that TT may already have seen enough to hand him a first team squad number NOW !! August 3, 20223 yr Maybe heard of him once before. Probably saw his name in England u19 team-sheet... Anyway we have seen something in him. Maybe it is just his height you immediately think of Pogba and Havertz. Similar qualities as well...through the lens of YouTube-comp naturally. Hard to see him being slotted in the side right away. Anyway...welcome Carney.
August 3, 20223 yr What is clear is that Chelsea are planning for the future. With Slonina and Chukwuemeka apparently done and the pursuit of Cesare Casadei at Inter still going on, we will have three teenagers virtually ready for the First Team squad. It may be that the "pipeline" from the Academy is beginning to dry up, or that TT and the coaches are not impressed by the lads coming through. Who know? but the future is looking bright 🌞
