Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

Featured Replies

We might have taken 3 points off Brighton at the weekend but boy, we need a whole lot more to make up for the way they have mugged us with Caicedo. £115m for Mr Average. Lost count of the times he f**ked up tonight and he gives us very little. When others come back from suspension and injury he has to be benched.

I'm on my knees praying Lavia comes into this side and looks the real deal. Because boy do we that in the middle.

To get the best out of your players you need to have the right tactics. Caicedo doesn’t strike me as a player who suits possession based team but we’ve brought him.

I think he’ll become a vital player for us in time, I’m not too worried about it. He was poor tonight for sure.

Honestly I would like to see more of Lesley right now, looks a tidy player.

I can't agree on that one, he's made a couple of blunders already and has barely played. He might be do a better job defensively than Caicedo but I genuinely don't think he'll be any better right now.

He is. Only Rodri has better retention metrics than him as a DM.

This honestly could be another Bissouma scenario where he'll need a season settled before finding his old form. Think coaching will also play a big part.

I think he's better defensively, which is more important right now as you can have Enzo do the passing/creating.

I rate Bissouma, rate Caciedo roughly the same if not marginally less.

Have to question why we spent 5x on Caciedo what Spurs did on Bissouma.

Oh believe me I wanted Bissouma at the time. Only took a spanking from Leeds and losing to Saints for Tuchel to up and act on getting a midfielder, which was Zakaria on loan.

We’ve been spoiled with some legendary defensive midfielders in the modern era - Maka and Kante obviously, but Mikel was solid and Essien could sit there also. Box to box, same with Essien, Ballack, and Lamps to name the legends.

Then Ramires comes to mind. Effective player who played in a better side than the current Chelsea, but I’d also argue was a more effective player than Caicedo so far. We need to see more - I’m surprised Caicedo and Enzo are struggling to control games in and out of possession.

I think Lavia only looks good right now because he hasn't played for us. Like some of the other youngsters we have purchased he has some promise but very little experience. I doubt he will radically change our midfield. Didn't make any sense to me at the time to sign both him and Caicedo, especially on such big transfer fees, Hope I am wrong  and he proves to be an inspired signing. But he has about the same experience as Lesley.

200M+ spent on midfield, yet we are still crying out for more players to come into selection, talk about first world problem🙄 I think Santos may get a chance when he comes back.

Caicedo needs time, with a huge price tag he's always going to have his struggle. I don't think he will be dropped, got stick it out

Caicedo is fine. He is not Kante. Next.

He's not fine. I know the price tag is not his fault but you spend anything upwards of £50M on a midfielder (never mind £115M), you expect a proper player and he looks anything but right now.

Not sure what his strength actually is. At times he looks clumsy and other times he was almost hiding. Really poor - far from fine.

Hmm his tackling a bit rash but it is fine. His passing his fine, his dribbling is fine. He is 22.

I think a lot fans have this idea that all you need is just one dm and he can defend everything.

Sure if you are Kante or prime casemiro but not Caicedo. He need help from enzo and everyone in front of him.

Point is when you cost over 100m you kind of have to or at least do your job flawlessly even if others mess up.

I'm sure he will come good but you don't spend that much on any defensive position for performances to come in a few years time.

But I think we all know that Caicedo is not a 100 player.

But this is the new Chelsea way😁😁😁

If you want a monster dm, get Rice. I didn't say this because rice is doing well. I have said this in the summer but he is 25. 😂😂

Tactical principles are very different. Last season Caicedo was a key player in possession for Brighton, he succeed to receive between the lines in a low movement to bring the opponent and then break the line in a short key pass.

This season I don't understand what he needs to do.

Defensively he's not special, technically he shows nothing special, his movement into free space is not an option so far in our game.

This is what we got for 100m while Real got Jude Bellingham and Arsenal got Rice for this price.

To be fair he didn't place the price tag on himself. We all know he isn't worth that, yet. Neither is Enzo. We overpaid massively for both. People were shouting how "but you need to overpay for that sort of quality." Blah, blah.

I would rather our scouts do sufficent scouting and find gems that cost a lot less. Caicedo was worth 5m when Brighton bought him. Enzo was worth maybe double that when Benfica bought him.

Doesn't mean that neither of them will become top players, but justifying their price tag will always be very, very hard to do because apart from a consistent 20 goal a season striker, no player is worth that in my opinion.

I read that we were interested in Caicedo before he went to Brighton, while he was playing in South America. This is when Lampard was in charge back in what, 2019, i think it was. Lampard actually seemed to have an idea of good players to get. He also targeted Rice, Haaland etc.

All I've seen from Caicedo so far this season is:

- The worst debut I've ever seen in a Chelsea shirt
- Incredibly slow on the ball, even his actual passes are generally slow paced
- Presses way too high and is easily bypasses and always running back
- Gives away lots of stupid fouls
- Hides and doesn't show for the ball a lot of the time (E.g. when CBs have the ball, he is nowhere to be seen as a passing option)

Overall, I am incredilly disappointed. But what was I expecting, really? Every signing except Palmer this ownership has made, has been awful.

Both Jude and Rice would look exactly the same in this dysfunctional Team, this is a team issue not an individual issue. They don’t know to play as a team because they are strangers put together less than 5 months ago.
