Madueke is considered expendable, Gittens was a key player for Dortmund. No Gittens wasn't. The new coach didn't need him because he played a 3 at the back and his system doesn't need wingers . Dortmund are just a very good selling club

Gittens was a key player player for Dortmund.Unfortunately you are wrong . Gittens was a starter in the first half of the season but has been a bench player since Kovac came in with his 3421 formation that relies on wingbacks and not wingers. It is public knowledge and can check googleJamie Gittens recently lost his starting position at Borussia Dortmund due to a change in coaching philosophy and tactics under Niko Kovac. Kovac favored a wing-back system where Gittens didn't fit naturally, leading to his reduced role in the starting lineup. Additionally, Chelsea has signed Gittens, suggesting a move away from Dortmund. Here's a more detailed breakdown:Change in Coaching System:Niko Kovac's appointment as Dortmund's head coach saw a shift towards a wing-back system, which didn't suit Gittens' playing style. Reduced Role:As a result, Gittens saw a drop in his playing time and wasn't included in the starting eleven as frequently. Chelsea Transfer:Gittens has been signed by Chelsea, indicating a move away from Dortmund and a potential new chapter in his career. Competition for Places:Chelsea's acquisition of Gittens, along with other attacking signings, suggests increased competition for starting positions in the Chelsea squad. Gittens' Strengths:Despite the change in Dortmund, Gittens is known for his pace and ability to create chances, which Chelsea hopes to utilize.
July 9, 20251 yr In a world where Elanga and Kudus go for 55M each, surely Madueke is a player worth over 50M fixed fee, as well.Bought for 29M, sold for over 20M profit two years later. Good piece of business for a good, but not great player.I do not believe Madueke would have been sold had Estevao did not come this summer. The club prioritise the integration of Estevao which, to be fair, is the right thing to do knowing he is one of the top talents in world football. Neto will probably start the season at right wing with Estevao slowly coming very late in the matches to replace either Neto or the left winger, with Neto going to the left and Estevao on the right. Keeping Neto gives Maresca more flexibility as he looks a better fit for the left wing, also, when needed.
July 9, 20251 yr Hard to say whether he looks to play more consistently or paycheck. Looks like paycheck. He would be behind Saka and Martinelli. But we have to be a bit aware of the lowish salaries on our players in general. Anyway if he wants to leave, no problem. Like Enzo said whoever doesn't want to be here you are free to go.

Like Enzo said whoever doesn't want to be here you are free to go.I have a sneaky feeling (nothing to base it on) that Arteta isn't having Martinelli. He may well view Madueke as a Saka back up but also a rotating starter on the left side, especially if they go get Eze as well.Would not surprise me in the slightest to see Martinelli move on later in this window.

Martinelli has plateaued.
July 10, 20251 yr “I’ve been really critical of much of Chelsea’s business under Clearlake…But flipping Madueke for a £21.5m profit, after 2.5 solid but unspectacular seasons…When you’ve already secured a player with a much higher ceiling in Estevao…Is brilliant work.”Interesting take!

Flipping on the players' original transfer value isn't looked at in the accounting perspective. This is actually a £35-40m book value profit if this goes through.

How do you get £35-40m?

July 10, 20251 yr I think this will work out similarly to the Havertz deal. He'll do well enough there that it's a justified signing, but we will not miss the player - and much better options will go for the same/less money. I don't mind Madueke but I don't think he has many levels to go up.

July 10, 20251 yr 6 minutes ago, Deino said:Suddenly our guys have a backboneI believe with the exception of CHO (huge fail there money wise) and Connor (not the ££ itself, but the Felix deal + KDH to replace him was idiotic), they've been doing a fine job at selling players: Havertz, Mount, Maatsen (even though it was another shady deal), even Lukaku which was hard to deal with. Their problem lies in the other way, when they can't help themselves buying every single u21 player that becomes available for £20m+.
