The guys we are linked with - Enrique (God NO), Nagalsmann (maybe, but risky) and Pochettino (Yes Please) are all out of work and if the club had acted swiftly enough (after the Everton match and in the International break), we could have someone in place now ready for the CL ties with Madrid. Like all CFC supporters, I love Lamps but I'm not at all comfortable with him being given this interim role. He's on a hiding to nothing and it WILL end in tears. The romantics amongst our support are dreaming of him pulling off a miracle and us winning the CL, but that just won't happen with this squad. Really feel sorry for Lamps, seeing him smiling and happy to be back at the club and maybe he feels if he can pull off a miracle, he has a chance of staying on - but it won't happen and I see him being treated like an ex, just being brought back for a gratuitous shag until a better option is found. Hope he can do himself justice and bring a bit of pride back but for me this is just another twist in a very poor and forgettable season. That said - Good Luck SFL. Just enjoy the ride Nibs, we are one of the most chaotic clubs in football, literally no idea what's going to happen next, and it's bloody marvellous. Imagine being a fan of a boring, ploddy club where nothing ever happens, just plodding on day to day, same old sh*t. Instead were a club where you wake up in the morning to see what new madness has happened. Have we bought Maradonas frozen dna to clone, are we looking at playing games in a drained Thames. Maybe we are going to hire a legendary player to pick up the pieces of a poor few seasons, the sack him, then hire a German, then sack him, then rehire the legendary player to pick up the pieces of a poor season....its all box office baby....
April 7, 20233 yr I’m a grumpy, old, cynical, Chelsea Git. That’s my good points!😀 Yet the return of Frankie Lampard has given me some hope. I know it’s only on a short term basis. He knows the place inside out as player and coach. The support really identifies with him. Hopefully he gets the real Chelsea to start turning up!
April 7, 20233 yr The only reason for my support is the chance of a true Chelsea Legend showing these new players what it means to be Chelsea. The work ethos, cultural and fighting spirit of Chelsea. It ENDS there. Not expecting a great league/champs league run culminating in lifting Big Ears or anything like that. I just hope it doesn't end up with him as a full time manager even in the unlikely event of winning champs league. Anyway I shouldn't think about that now as it is unlikely, but my view is that he is still not good enough a manager for a club of our aspirations to have as a permanent manager The most qualilfied person at the moment in my view out of all the contenders and given the circs is Pochettino. Sad, given his Spurs link but true I believe. He gave Spurs the edginess that made them very hard and difficult to play against. Yes we know all the jokes and how they never got it Iver the line but the Battle of the Bridge is a prime example of that edginess he gave them which I dare say our team needs. He is great with young players. He understands the league. He has overseen a title challenge and champions league run all the way to the finals. He has won a league title, even though in what we deride as a one club league (so has Nagelsmann) so that monkey is off his back. Spurs failure to win under him was more a reflection of Levy than Pochettino in my view and if he had winners in the team as we still do, I believe he would have gotten silverware of some sort. That's my opinion anyway. Could be bollocks of course.

I prefer our chances against Real under Lampard than I do Potter, but that kinda scares me also. I still have nightmares over those Bayern games under Lampard, his setup was suicidal. Bayern could've scored about 10 against us in those games if they were up for it.

I think that at that particular time, Lampard was a bit powerless, that Bayern team was going to beat us regardless. Half of their bench had stronger players than our starting lineup.

It's not so much that Bayern was an outstanding side, which they were. It's how we played against them, it was suicidal. I remember Kante had one of the worst games of his career, completely left for dead. I struggled to watch that match.

April 7, 20233 yr I cannot see it being Pochettino, his time at Spurs won't let it work. We saw how toxic the Bridge was with Rafa here and, in my opinion, he is a better manager than Pochettino but tainted in our eyes by his time with Liverpool. No matter how good or not Pochettino is, I don't see the fans accepting him.

It's not like he slagged us off like Rafa or won anything at Spurs to make him a Spurs legend. There are folk that would still have Mourinho or Conte back and they too are both ex-Spurs managers so I really don't see any issue. All the better if he came to us and won silverware - that would really underline just how Spursy, Spurs are!!
April 7, 20233 yr I’m already failing into the trap! Lampard is Chelsea, but that doesn’t have to be in a managers role, yet I’m already playing out the champions league final in my head, with Lampard staying on 😂 It couldn’t get any worse and having him back to see out the season is great, I just hope we announce the manager for next season in a couple of weeks. Jose and Conte were Chelsea first, and they were with Spurs a short time and far and away from achieving anything.

If not accepting men who had a let's say colorful past with us was a blanket rule Hoddle, Cesc and Eto'o would have also been quickly chased out of the place.

April 7, 20233 yr Apart from Pochettino not bad mouthing or taunting our fanbase and club like Rafa did even though they would be considered stronger rivals than Pool, I like the way he switched it up when he moved to Spurs from Southampton. Almost like he knew he was at a bigger club than Southampton and switched up his personality, game and all. If for anything seeing how spurs fans would be in anguish if he switched it up a notch or two as a Chelsea manager based on knowing we are bigger....... Ah now that would be satisfying.
