When you consider the options on the market,

Keeping Pulisic and Lukaku makes sense for Pochettino. Pulisic looks like a Pochettino player, he could definitely help him push on to the next level if he stays fit. The young man still has an abundance of talent he just lacks consistency.

Tuchel didn't play him nearly as often as he should and you can tell it knocked his confidence and probably made him slightly rusty. He was ofc injured way too often.

Lukaku is a different matter entirely...mnot sure about how he fits into a high pressing Pochettino front line

Problem with Pulisic is he is entering the final year of his contract. So we either sell this window or renew. I also don’t see where he fits with Murdyk & Sterling on the LW already, Nkunku would also operate on the LW in a 4-3-3, and Pulisic is crap on the RW.

the amount of time needed to conclude this feels like we are interviewing a manager to last more than two years

Boehly might have learnt his lesson ( from Potter), decided to take his time to land the one. The downside is everyone knows he's courting every good managers out there, so candidates have ( and will) keep walking away if he can't make up his mind.

Feels to  me more like Todd Lasso is about to fck this up as well. I am starting to get convinced that this clown is the source of all of the leaks to the press. It has been weeks of going on about Pochettino in the press, I just wonder where the initial leaking of our interest came from.

A process is a good idea. However the point about getting the decision made early is that the offseason squad changes can be made earlier. The other point is its wise not to worry too much because the new manager will likely only be here for 2-3 years.

Personally not convinced by Potch but first to agree I don't really have a clue. Just doesn't give me the right vibe.

Also club may be delaying the official announcement because as soon as its made no-one will pay any attention to Lampard including the players. Best to wait till the end of the season for the annoucement while doing background planning with the guy that's getting the job in full privacy. Then you can announce the change on day 1 of the offseason together with some departures and maybe an addition (if any).

Todd Lasso,LOL

David Ornstein - "After a comprehensive search led by sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, a final decision is set to be made in the days ahead and an announcement will follow in due course. The strong favourite to be appointed at Stamford Bridge remains Mauricio Pochettino, with the 51-year-old Argentine ready to take the position nearly 12 months on from his exit from Paris Saint-Germain."

“Strong favourite” where realistically there’s only one decent option out there with the rest dropping out. Todd flatters himself too much.

If Pochettino could make us relevant again by getting into the top 4 in the next couple of seasons, I'd say that's pretty good effort. A proven winner won't touch us right now. If Tuchel was hard work for Boehly, imagine working with Conte or Jose. I don't think Todd will take the ' DOnt speak, just pay' demand well.

Chelsea are close to confirming the appointment of Mauricio Pocchettino as their new manager, talkSPORT understands.

Pochettino verbally accepted the job two weeks ago and is now in the final stages of reaching a full agreement over his contract

I dont get this winner not touching us, both Jose and conte are "proven winners" and both went to the sh*t show that is spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino pinpoints five Chelsea stars to build team around after agreeing deal.

Pochettino wants to rebuild Chelsea from the back and sees N'Golo Kanté as pivotal to providing the protection he needs in front of the back four. Young defenders Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill are also safe along with full-backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Hmm, should Kante really be a starter next season?

Probably not, his injury record is atrocious lately, he can't be relied upon. This is why we need to get a replacement ASAP. Not saying sell him, but you can't rely on him to play even half the season so we definitely need a good DM that can fill the void and play next to Enzo.

Yeah I'd definitely keep him. The tweet @MirrorDarren posted gives indication that Kante is going to protect the back line in Pochettino's 'rebuild'.

Kante is essentially a right winger these days.

Kante has always been at his best playing box to box, but I actually think he could be a great DM. Under Lampard we saw him play there but that was Lampards system which just had no organisation or structure to it whatsoever. So I can't really put too much stock in his poor performances there.

We definitely need someone else there though as Zakaria will be gone soon and I don't want to see Enzo with Kovacic for most games of the season.
