March 12, 20242 yr I suppose Poch managed to take the spotlight away from Mudryk by keeping him out of the team and now he seems to be thriving and playing more freely. It really would be fantastic if Mudryk can reach a similar level to Palmer. We need it badly.

This is an incredibly young team, they need direction, they need to see a manager on the sidelines giving them confidence, helping them along, Poch does none of that, he just sits looking uninvolved. That does not help these young lads at all. Oh and also, wind your neck in olderschoolcfc, your "im a better fan because i love Poch" sh*t is boring. Palmer has said multiple times Poch has helped him by talking to him every day. And I am pretty sure there is not one person on this forum that loves Poch. His Tottenham background makes it very hard but if one day he makes this team win and brings us trophies we can probably give him some love. We don't need to love him just support his work. I think it’ll take at least 2 Premier league titles for me to get anywhere near that. There’s something really dislikable about him… Perhaps it is just his history with Spurs

There’s something really dislikable about him… Perhaps it is just his history with Spurs With any luck he'll be gone at the end of the season, I'll just end up repeating myself but while his history at Spurs immediately put him on the back foot, the way he carries himself is what has made him dislikable. Before he joined I thought he's a spurs w**ker but seems nice enough, but there's only so much I can take of disparaging the club and showing contempt to the fans with the constant "this is a different Chelsea" sh*t, like the below: Problem is I don't know whether it's because English isn't his first language but every time he says stuff like this it winds me up, maybe it's something lost in translation because every time he says it screams "none of this is my fault, the fans are idiots for expecting us to be better than 11th" despite the fact he has good players and certainly a better squad than half of the teams ahead of us.
March 13, 20242 yr I remember when he took over, he's targeting for the top 4, then the reality set in. The lost in translation is a factor, I mean it's challenging for most to answer tough questions like that in native language. He definitely expected more from the group, but after a while he's realistic about our chances, and he's not throwing anyone under the bus or train yet.
March 13, 20242 yr Plenty of plaudits from posters on Palmer and Gusto performances and who do the players themselves credit for helping them kick on ? Palmer : ‘The manager has definitely helped me, he’s a top manager and a top person. He speaks to you about anything, like family issues. I think if he knows what's going on off the pitch, it can affect how he is with you on the pitch. He's really great at that. ‘He's given me the freedom to play my stuff and I like it when he frees you because I feel I can express myself on the pitch more. ‘I'm loving it. Every day he's talking to you about different things, not just football things but just life generally as well. He's great at making you feel good and he’s always trying to get the best out of you.’ https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/palmer-im-loving-life-here Gusto : ‘It’s a pleasure [working with Pochettino], he has helped me a lot. He has given me his confidence and I try to return it on the pitch. He is very good for this type of team and we are very happy to have him at the club.’ https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/gusto-puts-growing-influence-down-to-pochettino-patience-and-trust

Gusto could say he's happy he's adjusted to a new league, Cole could say he's glad getting consistent minutes has let him kick on. I get the impression you've made your mind up about Poch though and it doesn't really matter to you what he or anyone says or does anymore.

Anyway...a lot of social media posts have risen over the last weeks over the numbers of some of our players namely Palmer, Jackson and Mudryk...funny how they are in the lines of: everyone thought they would flop and now that TIME HAS GONE BY they probably are not that massive flops. That is what gaining experience does to you. Media or fans don't give the squad nor the coach any time or slack. It is funny how they always interview some pundits that know next to nothing about Chelsea and they just repeat what they have learned of the club from the past 20 years; Drogba, Jose, JT, managerial circus, winning at all costs, Roman's money and so on.... No one puts any focus on the new owners apart from spending 1 bn on players. No one cares they are young. No, they are 1bn. Edited March 13, 20242 yr by evissy

Righto, because players never ever praise a manager that picks them... Of course Ive made up my mind, hes been dreadful in charge of us, he has zero in game management, he has an almost universal negative effect on the players at each half time team talk, he has had no positive impact on the way we play, he cant get any structure playing well. The sooner were rid the better,

The sooner were rid the better, If you'd like a comparison with other managers, have a look at what was (or wasn't) being said by our best performers when Sarri was in charge. I think we've seen several players improve quite dramatically over the course of the season and I've been impressed with our performances against top sides. Not only that, we've fought back from losing positions several times which has really impressed me. How many times last season did heads drop after going a goal down? We're on track for more points than last season, more goals scored, we made a cup final, and we've a good chance we'll at least make the semis of another. It's not been perfect, there's been some pretty crushing lows, but the lack of experience in the squad and the injury crisis can't be ignored when evaluating the season so far.

It cant be ignored, but it also cant be used an excuse for everything happening. He has had his first choice midfield available for almost the entirety of the season, yet they are still lacking any kind of cohesion or partnership, if anything its getting worse. He chose to not use a left back we had, putting Colwill there who had some very poor games. Ive no idea what he does at half time in every game as we play shambolic with no energy every single game. His substitutions are almost invariably poor, they never seem to make sense in the context of the game situation, and you could count on one hand the ones that have had a positive impact. Forgot to add, set piece defending is as chaotic now as it was at the start of the season. For me we are where we were under Sarri, playing poorly with no progress, no game plan but relying on one player to drag our arses through a game (Hazard/Palmer). Edited March 13, 20242 yr by dkw
March 13, 20242 yr We have 3 wins, 3 draws, and 10 losses from losing positions so far this season. Last year, 2 wins, 2 draws, 16 losses from losing positions. Points after falling behind Up to you if you call this drastic improvement compared to the sh*t storm that was last season. The stance of allowing Poch the rest of the season was always the most logical one. I for one think he needs moving on in May. Edited March 13, 20242 yr by Sconnie Blue

The sooner were rid the better, I understand these points of him very well. I just don't want us to change managers like pants because under Roman we did it nor do I think it is necessary. I want us to take a new route. And by recruiting young players we already did. In a way I think you are just reflecting his performances over results. Results have made you hurt as a fan. If we had good results you wouldn't bother talking about his in game management or anything else you talked about. That in essence is irrelevant. I believe results will come one day.

Out of interest, assuming Poch remains as manager for the rest of this season, would do you think he would need to achieve in order to get another year? FA Cup? Top 6? Or do you think he should go in the summer regardless?

Achieving top 6 would mean a consistent run of wins & improvement on performances, something we have yet to see this season. Do you believe Poch can do that? I don’t. Let’s be frank. The chance for a trophy is over.

And a final is a one off game. Do I think we can get 6th? No. Do I think we can get 7th, I think personally we should be favourites for 7th based on form Edited March 14, 20242 yr by bisright1

We keep saying this but we keep losing. On top of losing, we put in below standard performances even with more rest than the opposition. The league cup final was the perfect, easiest chance we'd get all season to win a trophy. We bottled it. I don't expect this behavior to change anytime soon.
