July 30, 20232 yr Been quite impressed by Alfie Gilchrist this half. Perhaps him, Humphreys and Colwill are why we are thinking of selling Trev ?

July 30, 20232 yr Aside from Willian, Fulham were pretty impotent. Have to love Willian. First good look I've had at Jackson. Looks promising. Edited July 30, 20232 yr by dermott
July 30, 20232 yr Warnock made a decent point on the analysis afterwards. Although the trophy in itself is pretty meaningless the type of momentum can carry.
July 30, 20232 yr Think Casadei needs a solid PL loan, but he'll be fine. Slonina I didn't think was anywhere near ready, so hopefully his loan will be competitive. I think we look good. I know it's only pre season, but there is pace, movement and intent. Maatsen looks great and must stay with us, which I am sure will happen cos I think Pochettino really likes him.

Compared to pre season last season where Arsenal made our players look like old men, this was so much better.

On the evidence of the pre-season games to date, I think if there is only one spot available for Santos or Casadei, then Santos has it. Cesare didn't have a good 45 today. Gallagher alongside him was much better, but he still makes me nervous in the pivot. Thought Lewis Hall looked better than Maatsen today. Expecting a loan for one or both of them.
July 30, 20232 yr The Good - Silva - Man s a robot - Jackson - Causes lots of problems for defences - Hall - Quite lively and some good deliveries The Bad - Slonina - Looked very shaky with the ball at his feet and generally out of his depth - Casedi - Shame, as he's been good last few games, but pretty poor today. Everyone else did nothing worth commenting on really. Standard pre-season performances.

July 30, 20232 yr Good preseason so far, though I still think we need caicedo type player alongside Enzo. And we definitely need another goalie. overall we are looking in the right direction
July 30, 20232 yr Having watched all the games so far I have gradually come to see how effective Santos is. Makes the team better. Lewis hall is great until the final ball. Humphreys and Gilchrist both played well. the pivots in h2 didn’t work well as a combo. personally I’m happy with the forwards other than that Bursto who is nowhere near ready.
July 30, 20232 yr We’re going to need another striker to compete with Jackson. Can’t see us going into the new season with just Jackson and Nkunku as our only striking options. Broja’s fitness is still an issue so we can’t rely on him as back up, while the kid Burstow looked out of his depth.
July 30, 20232 yr Think chiller is the right man for captain for this team. An older team might need a harder man for captain but in this group chiller’s the right age and personality.

That's the difference between English youth development and Brazillian youth development right there. Hall should be a much more effective player given he is slightly older and played at a much higher level than Santos, but Santos has been given the freedom to learn from mistakes whereas Hall hasn't.
July 31, 20232 yr Impressed by Jackson, he looked good. A willing worker across the front. Great delivery by Chilwell for the Silva goal. Great header too, some leap and power on the header. We looked fitter and not as pedestrian as we did on so many occasions last season.
July 31, 20232 yr Great to see Slolina but as I had no idea what type of keeper he is I was a bit disappointed he is more of a Courtois and not Alisson/Ederson. Courtois is best in the world but his distribution is questionable in the standard of the football today. Casadei - Gallagher pivot looked like it is not to be. Gallagher looked excellent though but his young italian counterpart really didn't. Mainly his decision making was wayy off. PL sides will punish you for those mistakes more than regularly. Jackson and Nkunku are players we really want and have needed for years. I think these two will terrorise defences years to come. We've had Werner, Pulisic, Ziyech... and countless others trying to do things. They all ended up doing a lot less of things. Hopefully these two are just not pre-season wonders. Maatsen has to stay. He is the versatile player we absolutely need and he really seems to enjoy Chelsea.
