November 3, 20241 yr He has to be the most idiotic keeper qe have had in my 30 years of watching Chelsea. Absolutely no need to make that challange. Maybe we never get caicedos goal and it ends 0-0 but then he and the defenders end with credit for doing their jobs, instead he messes up again. And yet we are left with an even worse option than him in Jorgensen as the alternative. We ain't getting top four with either of these two as our number 1.
November 3, 20241 yr This is on Maresca. Before a ball was kicked, before he saw how disastrous Sanchez can be, he said Sanchez was his number 1. It's costing us big time. He's making a costly error almost every game now, he lost his spot to Petrovic last season, and he should be losing his spot again soon this season. Stop f**king about and get a proper keeper in.
November 3, 20241 yr I’m growing tired of his mistakes. He’s made some great saves this year, but every game he is costing us with a mistake. Not good enough, simple as.
November 3, 20241 yr Another game, another 2 points he's cost us, although Fofana put him in a sh*t position
November 3, 20241 yr Sooner this c**t does one the better. Edited for poor taste Edited November 3, 20241 yr by Gordon Bennett

I am also think Colwill might have a bit of this as well. Why was Fofana the only defender left. It happened a few times where he ended up last man, one on one.

November 3, 20241 yr Kepa would have conceded one of those random United long shots and made it look unsaveable.
November 3, 20241 yr I don’t know what the club do about Sanchez. I like his shot stopping abilities but the rest of his game is shocking. He might be a good keeper but he is the wrong fit for the style of football that we want to play. Neville was right when he said that Sanchez should have pulled out and let the player dive and embarrass himself. So rash. We’ve got 8 goalkeepers. 8. And it’s still looking like we’’ll need to replace Sanchez. Madness.

November 4, 20241 yr Nothing has changed.... He is an above average to good shot stopper. He is average at catching crosses. He is awful with his feet. He is awful when he has a decision to make - and seems to panic. He would not be getting in most other premier league teams. Ederson, Alisson, Reya, Onana, Vicario, Pickford, Martinez, Pope, Henderson, Flekken, Sa, Aereola, Leno are all much better than him. The only ones I am not sure about are Kepa, Ramsdale, and whoever is in goal for forest, Leicester, Ipswich and Brighton). Simply not a goalkeeper who should be playing for a team with EPL aspirations.

Simply not a goalkeeper who should be playing for a team with EPL aspirations. You think he's an above average to good shot stopper? I dont consider him to be a better short stopper then any of those you have mentioned (I don't actually think that much of Aereola) he's compitent at doing that component of his job and ill add that i feel resonably secure when he comes to collect a cross. But thats would be the limit of my praise. Decsion making is truly awful, and that is affecting the feet thing as well. How often do you see him try and make a pass of balance, which is normally the reason we end up in trouble.
November 4, 20241 yr The worst thing is that the identified needing to upgrade the keeper position and went and got Jorgensen - who doesn’t anything spectacular. It’s early days I know but it’s hard to see how he’s a significant improvement on Sanchez bar his feet.

Go huge on Costa (porto) and just lock down the postion, City, Liverpool and Arsenal all showed the importance of being ruthless in this postion. hell we did when we went out and got Cech 20 years ago and TBO 10 years ago
November 4, 20241 yr Sanchez is holding us back and I think it wont change. In some things like reaction saves he is top of the league level, tall dude as well. And in every game he puts us in jeopardy in some way or another. Usually it means we concede needlessly. It is his flaky footballing brain. I am not saying someone else wouldn't have attacked Hojlunds feet but if you look at that situation Hojlund had really nowhere to go there and he is famous for going down in the box like a considerate lover. Top goalies make top decisions. Sanchez has not had a game without incidents all season. Enzo is pushing him by saying if he puts long balls instead of play from the back he doesn't play which is fair but I also think he knows we need a new guy in in the summer.
November 4, 20241 yr We need a top quality keeper and a top quality, natural centre-forward. We have needed a top quality keeper since Cech left.
November 4, 20241 yr With 8 GKs on the book, I doubt we'd spend big on a GK, unless he's under 20. Kepa on loan and hardly getting a game, I doubt anyone will buy him. So the roster isn't getting smaller next season.

I'll say that was more all due to the excellent scouting Emenalo and his team has going around that time. Maybe I'll give you Cech but even that is questionable as whilst he had potential to be good he wasn't yet a superstar goalie. Thibaut same, even less reputation than Cech, yet to play an international game, dominated his area because of his height but he wasn't particularly mind blowing. Atleti developed him for us. Was a shame that happened as he felt more affiliation with Spain than Chelsea hence why he left eventually. Although players generally don't turn down and opportunity to go Madrid, was the way he forced the move that left a sour taste in our mouths. I agree with the post per getting a quality goalie once and for all. The two most important positions for us now are GK and CB. If only City didn't get ahead of us for Gvardiol. He'd have been our best defender right now.

It goes beyond his mistakes but the effect he has on the team. When players have full confidence in their goalie, they are able to play without the pressure of what's he gonna do now and thus put in better performances. Less nerves for the defenders which translates to better support for the midfield and better team play generally. It's why everyone was shocked when he said Sanchez was his number 1 immediately he came in. He's not even good at what you want your goalkeeper to do and yet you give him the number 1 glove without even trying to allow the guy that kept him on the bench last season play or go for an all out replacement. Maresca gets a massive F here for me.
