City fan here, and not posted on here for 9 years I think.

Just wanted to say a load of us on bluemoon are absolutely gutted to see Palmer leave, me included. Having watched him come up through the academy, he's an incredible talent and IMO will go on to be world class and better than Foden. The lad can do everything and although it didn't really click for him last season (I think he was just trying too hard to impress) you could see he has talent to burn.

This transfer will be remembered just as much, if not more than Mourinho selling KDB. In a year or so - maybe less - the media will be saying "What on earth was Pep thinking, letting Palmer go". You can bookmark this!

Please excuse the shameless bump! Just popped in to say I told you so. Pep letting this lad go (and not giving him any kind of run, resulting in him wanting to leave in the first place) is a WHOPPER of a blunder.

Fair Play.

We owe Pep big time. All manager make mistakes but this looks to be right up there and must give Pep some sleepless nights!!

Bloody hell you got it spot on.

Many of us were happy to get Palmer at the time but I don't we expected him to be that good. I didn't think City would ever really miss him either, but you could do with him at the moment.

But it's never that simple, he would never get the minutes at City like he is at Chelsea. It's one of the curses of having a really good team, it's hard to take the risk of giving youngsters time to develop there, it always happens.

One for the history books that post.

The balls on him on that second pen, which we needed, as the game winner.

Pen Palmer back with a bang, big game mentality.

The low camera angle from Palmers left is the one to watch on both pens. Check his eyes on each one, glancing the same way each time -  right hand corner. Fooled the keeper once and then panenka'd him, guessing correctly that the keeper wouldn't be fooled twice...............LOL.

I thought we were mad signing yet another unproven young player 🤣

Palmer gave City/Pep a tap in though.

He'd have come back a ready made effective new signing had they agreed to loan him like he wanted.

Right up there with not playing Rodri or Fernandinho against us in the Champions League final.

It’s Pep’s biggest weakness. He overthinks some of the really big games

He reminds me of Zidane earlier in his career. The touch, weight of pass, vision, timing, assists and goals. He has it all.

He is a special player who might take Lampard’s goal record if he sees out his contract and I never thought that I would see that beaten.

Yes plus he is scoring way more than zidane

I'll whisper it quietly but I count one good performance in his last 8 league games for us (Spurs). Thats despite some late goals that didn't matter much v Villa and Southampton but performance wise he's not been at the races for a little while now in my opinion.

Would love for him to get back to his very best because then I genuinely think we'll challenge Liverpool if he does but right now he's a bit frustrating to watch for me.

Had a poor start and we just struggled to find him.. for a 10 to work we need to be quicker in possession and not ponderous with three CBs..

He's lost a bit of an edge to his game. He's still finding assists, goals and creating chances, but he's lost a bit of that X Factor of late. I've not seen him pick up the ball and knock it past players with a bit of skill or flick it over a players head for a while now.

It started when he picked up that knee injury. Hopefully he finds that spark again soon. I'm also hoping this isn't Maresca doing a Pep and moulding him into a different player, because a lot of Palmer's game seems to have suddenly shifted. It's like the flair has suddenly been turned off.
