My God, Poch missed a major opportunity in his SKY Sports post match interview. At the start the female presenter yabbled on a bit and then Jamie Redknob jumped in and said "hi Mauricio, Jamie Redknapp here" , if only Poch had replied " I'm sorry, who?" I'd have loved him forever.

If we do finish 6th it might be considered a decent season given all of the injuries and despite losing a cup final against an inexperienced Liverpool team.  Next season though a CL spot is the very least that will be demanded, with or without Potch.

I’d say 6th would be an excellent season. I remember the thread before the season started which asked where everyone thought we’d finish. Most had us between 6th and 8th.

Well we go there in the end.

we seem to have a real problem playing teams at the bottom end.

i thought the subs helped us so fair play to poch. Also it’s nice to have players like nkunku , james ,gusto, sterling back gives us other options.

if we can get top6 this year it would be some achievement considering we were at one point 14th

And we've been sh*t throughout the season. We've been inconsistent during matches. We have effectively win this game with three well executed moves. The rest of the play was horrendous. But if we do get 6th and we do get the Europa league then none of our inconsistency matters. Until we're getting our arses handed to us by Cluj. Lol

Agreed. Especially considering that our form has been closer to top 4 for the second half of the season.

Like if Lukaku wasn’t a spoiled child or Morata wasn’t a complete pussy.

That's bang on actually.  I confess I never really took to Morata but even now I'd say that Lukaku,  fit and playing constantly  is still an elite player. It's when he opens his gob he makes a bellend of himself.

Ideal start when we scored in the 7th minute. Great ball from Cole Palmer for Mudryk.

Then let them back into and control the game for large spells.

Agree that the subs changed it for us. Game in many ways kind of sums up our whole season. The inconsistency.

Thought Thiago Silva was immense at the back, again.

Todays match epitomized the whole season in 90 mins some good moments early on but mostly crap throughout until the end ! 😅
All joshing aside 7th seems a lot more appealing than 11th where the club seemed to have made its home up until a few weeks ago.

Very important win.

The subs definitely changed our intensity so credit to Poch for that. He made the correct decision and it paid dividends.

Everything else was worrying though. Same old mistakes, lack of focus and ideas.

Caicedo MOTM for me.

Onwards and upwards.

I hope every team who get a late "winner" like Manure (the other week) and Notts did yesterday continue to celebrate early... seems to bring out the best in us.

Very dirty team...

That match changed when Madueke went off. Madueke has played very well recently but was utterly terrible today. Nkunku is still finding his feet but that will come, although I noticed he was holding his knee for quite a while late on.

Another to badly regress was Badiashile.

The fact that Sterling still has plenty to offer comes as no surprise.

But 3 goals  and a late surge are great. We have a strong squad as the subs show.

Excellent win against a side with it all to play for.

We are a keeper, centre back and a striker away from being a very good side .

Onwards and upwards.

If I had to choose only one position to strengthen it would be a keeper first and foremost

In light of recent comments from Everton that they need to sell, I would actually go in for Pickford now. Maybe even offer one of ours on loan with very favourable terms to sweeten the deal.

Pickford is a decent shot stopper, decent with his feet and being 30 mature and commanding enough to manage a young defence I front of him now that Silva is going. He could be the experience needed.

Do that and we will be having the same conversations again next season about needing to find a new keeper.  Pickford hss great games, then folloes it up with far too many mistakes. He isn't an improvement on either Petrovic or Kepa.

Disagree. Technically he is significantly better than our existing keepers, imo.
