Maesca's system is REALLY REALLY turgid against a low block, as it isn't dynamic enough to break them down.

Once you have teams pressing you in the PL, you are more likely to see quick transitions and overloads in midfield.

Yeah...; that doesn't really happen barring a few clubs. Every sits in a block against us cos they know we can't do anything about it.

Also, James McLean is a c**t of the highest order and I wish Levi had chinned him.

If it's any consolation Google seem to be attempting to piss him off:

We have seen this under Sarri.

Low block, Sideway passes, and everytime we conceded first I just switch of my TV, I knew it was over.

Alright fella, Leicester fan here again

I see some are already not happy with how the system looks, granted its only pre season, but get used to some boring, turgid football for the majority of the time under Enzo

I have no doubt he will get you results, as he did for us, but even at 1 up in most games he very much set us up to sit in and defend what we had, then counter when the chance came, he made comments after we beat southampton 5-0 that he wasn't too happy with how we played because we didn't control the game enough and it ended up like a basketball game

We struggled so many times to break teams down who play a low block, constant sideways passing, slow on the ball

Also his in the league expect to see your first sub around the 70th minute mark, whether you are winning or losing

One thing to be said for Pochettino last season is that his basketball style of football was often entertaining, if frustrating - we scored a lot and conceded a lot. For many Chelsea fans now though I think we just want to be back competing for CL football and if it means it's a bit boring but we get results, I personally don't necessarily mind. As for the 2-2 against Wrexham it's preseason and these types of results are commonplace.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck in the forthcoming season. Will be good to see Leicester v Forest in the Prem.

I watched the game early hours in the morning.

His system and football is basically as we predicted. Possession based and aggressive off the ball. It will be a long season watching us learn the ropes.

Players who have played that were all very comfortable in it. Lavia, Colwill, Sterling, Sanchez...

1st half after 20 mins we were pretty good. Almost entire second half we were pretty bad.

Wrexham was well prepared and deserved the draw. It was their 3rd game already. 5 games in the pre-season and we probably win with 3 goals.

James and Gusto tried to find their game bottom of the midfield but both tried to find their feet in the new role.

We still missed most of the first team.

Anyway Maresca era is truly on.

Lavia genuinely a new signing.

Yeah he looked quite good and Fofana’s pace and footwork also ok.

Did Fofana get any minutes?

yeah he player, didn't see much of him on the highlights so can't comment too much on how he was.

Probably clutching at straws but their first goal he fails to stop the ball across the box because he's busy focusing on his man then the second goal the keeper definitely should have saved it but Fofana didn't even attempt to block it.

Defensive line last night was chaotic. Fofana as the sweeper and Chilwell inverting as a LCB.

Only watched 20 minutes whilst up for a piss in the middle of the night but we looked in total control and scored the goal.

I take away two things away from that Gordo.

1. I like the fact you have a TV in your toilet.

2. Twenty minutes is a long time for a piss. You may need to see a doctor.

Yeah think the lack of control in the middle of the park second half didn't help either.

I want to see James-Fofana-?-Colwill as our starting backline with James inverting. Back 3 of Fofana-?-Colwill and see how that goes. None of Tosin, Disasi or Badiashile excite me in that role, probably take a punt and see how Tosin does.

I literally fell asleep during the 2nd half, but all things considered I think we were alright in the 1st. City lost to Celtic so if those results mean anything then we're right there challenging them either for the title or to not be relegated!

Haven't watched it but for anyone panicking for some reason already, we looked quality last pre-season and we were sh*t during the actual season

I wouldn't necessarily rule out the possibility that this year we might surpass ourselves and be sh*t in pre-season AND sh*t during the actual season 🙂

We can make a pretty decent eleven out of players who weren't involved last night:

Petrovic

Disasi Chalobah Veiga Cucurella

Caicedo Fernandez Gallagher

Palmer Jackson Mudryk

And I still can't find a space for Dewsbury-Hall LOL

Decent 11 falls down when you mention Jackson!

How dare you?!

Like usual and with all respect, far too much read into the first match of pre-season.  They are just getting fitness up right ?

The game was awful I took nothing from it, other than Reece James seems to be back (without getting a card!) . I hope the new gaffer got more out of it than I did.

Back to MOTD highlights only then, as I'm approaching 60 and life is too bloody short to be wasting watching boring sh*t football week in week out. Anything approaching any form of entertainment nowadays seems to be branded as chaos.
