No match day without @erskblue's enthousiastical post! The season hath truly started.

Oh god...

Oh he did it for preseason too...except he got the wrong day. Smh.

I believe his punishment was to post a vid of himself on here, doing/dancing the macarena!

*the punishment bit above may have been stretched slightly, or completely in my head, either way it should still count. It's upto you now Val to make sure he posts it! 😆

If our pressing is well timed, relentless and effective and we do zero costly mistakes in the buildup we have a chance here. Nkunku and Palmer are both capable of scoring against City.

Problem is this starting 11 is starting together for the first time and the new system is in. Anyway I want to be positive going into this.

City is probably 80/20 favourite to win it but we should show what we can as a young side to gain confidence.

We are starting over again for a third time which is freaking frustrating.  Having to build another new system with the players.
I can’t remember the last time we had consistency going into two seasons where you can feel a little confident the players know the way the manager wants to play.

i hope we don’t get smashed today so the players keep their confidence going.

After seeing how naive Ipswich were against Liverpool I don't have massive hopes on 3 points.

Very important not to concede early. City do play an open game and we will have our chances, but we need to grow into the match steadily and build confidence, hence we need to make sure we don't find ourselves in the position of chasing the score from early on.

I would take a draw right now if offered. It's still early days for us with a new manager and a young squad up against Guardiola and the reigning champions.

Would pack the midfield and try to limit them as much as we can by playing with a lot of energy.

                 Jorgensen

         Tosin Fofana Colwill

              Gusto Caicedo

    Palmer Lavia Enzo Nkunku

                   Jackson

This is the most underwhelmed I've been heading into a new season.

In saying that, here's to hopefully a successful season ahead.

You couldn’t have been around from the mid 70’s to mid 80’s 🙂

Back in the day we were just hoping that there was going to be a season ahead.

I’m still in Edinburgh and stupidly haven’t booked any shows for when the match is on. Maybe I should?

Have you taken any decisive action?

Their youth team tore us apart in pre-season. We don't really stand a chance, unless we suddenly change how our defence is setup from all the pre-season games. Maybe it'll be like the debut 0-4 loss to Man utd Lampard had, which made him realise very quickly he couldn't play as high a line as he wanted to.

At least we didn't expect much back then.

I want to see a performance that shows heart and application. The new manager has had time enough to impress upon the team how important hard work and concentration are.

I also hope he saw from the preseason defeat that you can lose to City very early in a game and impressed upon the players how to defend. No silly mistakes please.

I'd take a draw all day.

Itching to see what line up he selects today ...

I think it will be 4-3-3 with Sterling/Nkunku/Palmer in attack, and Enzo, Lavia, Caicedo in midfield. Sanchez GK and defence Gusto/Fofana/Colwill/Cucurella.

Also be interesting to see who doesn't make the bench ... (expecting no Chilwell, and half expecting no Noni)

Very excited to see our first starting line-up. Feeling optimistic for the season, hopefully I’m not setting myself up for disappointment haha!

Come on Chelsea!
