Emiliano Martinez

He’s an upgrade on Sanchez which isn’t saying too much, but he also has many Sanchez like flaws.

I guess it makes sense for a year or 2 maybe. Surely Penders goes out on loan now.

He's a great GK, regardless of how bad Sanchez is

Great Gk is a bit of a stretch. Makes too many errors to be a great one imo.

I think it is all bo**ocks actually.

  • Sanchez had a stinker to all except Chelsea's own goalkeeping team.

  • Martinez is out there looking for a club, Villa are imploding.

  • Chelsea have a bright prospect (allegedly) whose path shouldn't be blocked.

  • Martinez is 33 and Sanchez is 28. Perfect mentoring age

Let's join the dots, make a headline and get some clicks.

Don't get me wrong i do like Martinez and wouldn't say No. That said after the Argentinian's antics against us in the WC this image still raises a smile and an overwhelming sense of karma in my heart

Image of Martinez: World Cup final makes me emotional

I think its that Sanchez is in the 16th percentile for short passes (ie 84% of peers are better than him) and in the 8th percentile for long passes (ie 92% of peers are better than him). In essence he's absolutely terrible at passing when compared to other Prem keepers.

is it percentile or just pass completion?

i.e for every 100 long balls he attempts, 8 actually make it to our players.

I just don't see how a deal like this happens so late in the window.

IF this goes through, then they need to make sure they nail Penders loan as we can't waste a season of his development. Strasbourg is out the window, how many loan spots do we have left?

Failing that, they need to do everything in their power to shift Sanchez before the window shuts.

I would rather we just promote Penders to no1. Martinez is prone to the same stupid mistakes Sanchez is and his shot stopping is worse than Sanchez

lol u can’t be serious… Martinez is one of the best shot stoppers in the premier league….

I've seen him perform in many games for AV, he may have made mistakes but so did the GKs from the other teams, he saved their arses way too many times.

Must be percentile I think, as I can't believe his long passing is as bad as that? Also it does say percentile.

He's 21 so in theory he can go on loan to any club internationally and it won't affect the UEFA limit of 6 senior international loans (age 22+).

Don't think there are any limits in country for EFL loans.

I feel like a Championship loan would be a backwards step at this point.

I've heard it said by both Younes and Miz, in the past, that this account is pretty reliable with Chelsea information, so will share it.

Thoughts of this poster Sconnie, they are worth while source to use?

Sanchez is such a jerk. All he had to do was put in a half decent display against Fulham and he’d be the nailed on starter for the season. Instead he had a total meltdown. Let’s the ball run out of play while about to kick it, nowhere to be seen for their first goal, parries it into the striker for the second, almost conceded a third by charging out into no man’s, and repeatedly kicked the ball either out of play or straight to the opposition. Totally useless.

He’s had some bad performances for us but that was up there as one of his worst.

Simply put, he is sh*te.

I reckon we’re going to get several ‘Here we go’ tonight.

Delap, if it hasn’t happened already, Jackson, and Martinez.

Enzo will drag on for a few more days unfortunately. Would be nice if we decided to sign Scott anyway, so we’re not under pressure to sell Enzo.

Glad he had this meltdown while there's still time to do something about it in the transfer market.

To be fair, Martinez was probably the only Argentine player that never got involved in it all. He stood away from the players celebrating with the Falklands banner and he brushed it off when he was interviewed too.

Need to cut off the snake's head.

Ornstein rarely has this kind of speech towards a certain player and it is understandable because you really must be neutral in order to keep your connections solid with every club, but the way he talks about Sanchez, and also the way Neville and Carragher talked about him after the Fulham match, it definitely tells me that the world of PL football thinks Sanchez is dog turn and not good enough for a big club. Surely his time here is up.

I can’t believe some people are saying Martinez is similar to Sanchez.

Sanchez is one of the worst in the whole league, Martinez is not one of the worst in the league.

And that’s without getting into stats, leadership comparisons, confidence they give their defenders and even the good old eye test.

It’s a clear upgrade.

We should have won 3-0 and because of Sanchez we nearly drew 3-3.

And there’s people who think Martinez is no better??

Mondays performance wasn’t a one off, he has needlessly cost us goals loads of times, every single season.

He’s not good enough and if we have any aspirations of finishing in the top 4 he has to be replaced.

And they should sack off that Ben Roberts as well!
