Victor Moses

Featured Replies

Conte chose between a player who wanted to stay and was ready for a bit part role and one who clearly wasn't up for that. Moses is good enough back up.

Victor Moses has been involved in all five matches so far this season and if that continues on Friday, he will play his 50th for Chelsea.

The winger is staying as a member of the squad this season having spent the three previous on loan in the Premier League, including at our next opponents Liverpool in 2013/14 where he made 22 appearances.

Now working under Antonio Conte, Moses has spoken about the early days with the Italian in charge.

‘He is a great manager if you look at what he did at Juventus and he is a very passionate manager and he wants the best from us,’ said the 25-year-old.

‘You could see in pre-season how hard everyone was working. I think he is the right man for this club.

‘He came in and changed quite a few things and everyone was expecting that. The food regime and the training have changed and he wants everyone to gel together as a team. He speaks to every player and wants the best from each and every one of us, and he will get the best out of us.’

Moses emphasised the strict dietary requirements are good for the players’ bodies and that Conte is very keen on making sure they stay away from injuries.

‘We appreciate that and it will help us in the long run,’ he added.

‘We know what is expected of us this season and we will hopefully do our best.

‘It is going to be a hard league and we have to take every game seriously. Every one is a must-win game for us.’

Looks more in form than Willian, think he's pushing him for a starting place against Arsenal.

I'd love to see that but unfortunately apart from Fabregas being back in the team, Conte will go for the usual starting line-up.

It's been interesting to read the majority take on this because I didn't think Moses was particularly good last night. I know he's not the same kind of player as Willian in that he will try what is unlikely to succeed (but when it does it is usually dangerous) but when that inevitably fails the majority of the time it looks like a player continually making the wrong decision and running down blind alleys. He also consistently failed to track Chilwell, which I found very frustrating.

I do think he stood out in extra time, but I think that was simply as a very athletic player using his strengths against a tired and dejected Leicester side who were down to ten men.

Bizarre how people want Moses to start after a decent  performance against a teenager who looked awful! Moses had the beating of the Leicester youngster from the off, and still wasn't able to create many good chances, and people expect him to make an impact against Monreal at the Emirates??? Pedro looked a lot more dangerous then Moses, Pedro's final ball was very good and was unlucky to have been flagged offside for his goal, people need to put Moses' performance into perspective, he shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI on Saturday, good dribbler but no end product.

But then, to me, this is Willian's biggest weakness.

He too often plays safe and doesn't try to force the issue. He'll play a 3 yard pass back to the full back rather than take on his man. He'll play the ball square rather than take on a shot. He'll cut inside rather than try to get to the byline and put a cross in.

I'm not saying that a winger should always try to do the harder thing but Willian doesn't attempt it often enough.

For that reason I think Moses is looking better so far this season because he's taking the responsibility to try and make something happen.

I tend to agree with this.

I'm not Willians biggest fan by any means and think he needs to step it up on the attacking side of things but for me he is still a better option than Moses.

Moses is a trier and does a job but I didn't see anything last night to make me take notice of him tbh.

Moses is the only proper winger we have in the team. You can tell Hazard and Willian are origially number 10's by the way they drift inside. I'm not sure if you could tell on the TV last night but Moses properly hugs the touchline and pulls defenders out to him. Spreads out the defense and offers a switch all game, lovely to see for once. Can't remember having a winger do that since Robben.

I would wait to see if Willian's game changes with Conte's tactics. Was his lack of adventure due to his own mental limitations or tactical limitations imposed by Jose? We should know soon enough!

Not a big fan of moses tbh. He tries hard but he plays with his head down, and has a poor final ball.

Still, he did a decent job today, worked hard, and did an okay job defensively, especially after he got booked 1st half.

We dont have a natural right wing back in the squad, he has a chance to make the position his own.

Moses is a good player, not world class but he does a job and he does it well, we haven't seen the best of him yet, however with the right coaching and game time, he will be a stalwart for Chelsea. England's loss is Nigeria's gain, a bloody shame that.

such a frustrating player, no end product at all as well as having a poor football brain, he works hard and can dribble past players but that is about it, as soon as he is near the goal he doesnt have a clue what to do.

He did well. He ran with pace at the defence, far more direct than any of our other wingers are and it's great to see.

He did misplace a LOT of passes though. Numerous times he tried to pass inside to Costa or Hazard and gave the ball away. Needs to take a bit more care with his passing

If hazard had put in a performance that moses put yesterday, most would be claiming him to be world class and the second coming of jesus.

MOTM for me.

Keep it up Victor.

Hopefully this also puts to rest the debate of who being more useful - Pedro or Moses.

The performance wasn't that good.

maybe conte can use him in a different role, maybe wing back or such? i like moses, but his end product, like others have mentioned, is a bit below par. he is still only 25 so he could become even better with us going into his prime years. not saying he could be a ribery or robben, but he certainly could improve more under the top coaching.
