I wouldn't sell to United but not because I rate Matic.

hes not a great footballer but I hate selling to rivals when we don't get the same back.

Pretty much my thinking. More than happy to let him go but not to a rival when they never sell to us.

Hope we don't sell him to United.

He's not fantastic but a very useful DM in this league. And surely we'll have to get another midfielder in if he's sold? Bakayoko will replace Matic but we need more for champions league this year.

I wouldn't let him leave. I am one of his biggest critics but with the amount of games we have this year compared to last, we need depth and he has great experience.

I have seen very little of Bakayoko but I sincerely hope he is a lot better on the ball than matic is because retaining the ball in the middle of the park is a serious issue for us and I think Matic is the main culprit. We had a pretty decent record against the big sides but any time a decent team pressed us we really struggled; I remember being so frustrated in the first 10-15 mins at Anfield because Liverpool were typically pressing really well and every time Matic got the ball he lumped it high into the air and straight back to them. I think Conte will have noticed this and hope it's different next season

It's practically done.

Was brilliant in his first season with us after his return. And his goal at Wembley was sensational. But I think we have got the best out of him, he will only get worse from now on. I wish him the best of luck for the future.

Just imagine the possibillity of seeing a Fellaini/Matic pairing in central midfield and you will feel all warm inside

Fellaini could be ion the way out, I am not writing Matic off, I know how good he can be

Very surprised to see us dealing with another Premier League club again, of the top 5/6 clubs surely we've dealt with our rivals more in the last 5 years than anyone else?

£40m is a good fee but only if we reinvest into our own squad. We've let a lot of experience go recently and as yet haven't replaced or reinvested.

Yet Liverpool, Arsenal and United haven't won the PL title in decades (or at all!) whereas we've won 5...

Surely we're not selling him? Seems daft to let him go straight up before Bakayoko even proves that he is up to the job. It's also another left footer out. Leaves us with only three in the squad from my count and Ake is potentially on the way out too.

On another note it will potentially still give Nat a chance at minutes. Which is a positive.

The only United player's we have been linked with any time recently were Rooney (in 2013) and Lingard (earlier this year). All i can say is thank god we don't get the same back.

I don't know how old he is but I'd love to see him back here, he's a joy to watch. Mata and Fabregas in the same side... Yes please.

Counter attacking manager's with athletic midfielders would have a field day against us with those two playing.

WHATTTTTTTT?

I am referring to Arsenal when I mention decades. But I can't see Utd having benefitted from a player we have sold them in general. They haven't been our "rivals" for years now.

And Liverpool have never won it, lols

A tree and a giraffe in the same midfield with Pogba?

He has played most of his games as a CM and AMC for Dortmund.

I'm not knocking on you but I've always seen him on the right occasionally on the left feeding crosses into Auba. Colour me surprised

he's definitely more of an attacking midfielder or winger than he is a centre midfielder though.

In regards matic. I'm not keen to sell to a rival, regardless of whether or not I think he will do well, as no top 6 club would sell us a player, even one surplus to requirement.

£40m will be a good figure though to soften the blow, and hopefully matic's lack of mobility will cause United problems.

If matic does go, I would imagine we will see more than bakayoko come in to replace him.

If 40 mill, then good business for us. Matic is a useful squad player but he is not a premier player who can be a monster DM. United are in the market for a DM and they dont mind spending big to get a good DM. If they are to spend, It might as well be with us to take our squad player while we try to upgrade that position. For Matic, he works with a manager who can get the best out of him - So it is a win win for everybody.

ManUtd have a poor record of taking care of players that seem to be past their prime. Check Bastian, Rooney next season for sure.
