September 17, 201510 yr Kennedy, Baba, Oscar all quickly started games for us whereas RLC has to be "drip fed". Baba quickly started a game? Really? Besides Oscar and Baba have had at least one full season of top league first team football (Oscar had one, Baba had two). Kenedy on the other hand - seen him at the U20 World Cup and I have no idea why he is playing ahead of other youth players... No idea whatsoever how we could have kept Kenedy and sent out Moses. September 17, 201510 yr First time I've seen something to buy into the hype. Promising performance, I like how quickly he gets the ball out from under his feet when receiving the ball, very slick player to watch, got a bit of Berbatov about him. Don't call me mad, but I think he has got a little little bit of Gazza in him as well, he'll play a quick 1-2 and then bursts forward at full speed, controlling the ball with both feet, as you say he looks pretty slick for a big lad.
September 17, 201510 yr Bannered this on my FB, so proud to have a youngster come through, marquee transfers are exciting, but nowhere near as exciting as watching a youngster come good.
September 17, 201510 yr I think rlc is starting to really show what he can do. He hasn't really taken many risks in his play up until last night, but now I think he feels more comfortable, and in all honesty, he probably thinks he can get into this starting 11 with so many players under performing. I think he is a better option than either ramires and mikel. He will obviously make mistakes but he is young enough to learn from them, and the upside is potentially the best English centre mid of his generation. The one thing I think he could really improve on, is his spacial awareness around the box, he gets into good positions, but because he hasnt got his head up, he can miss opportunities to shoot or play the killer ball. September 17, 201510 yr "He played very well which is very good for us. He is in conditions to compete with the other players for opportunities and minutes, but he is having minutes. He is potentially a very good player but you have to feed these young players and choose the right moment. The reality is his evolution is important and good." -Jose Mourinho
September 17, 201510 yr Author During the pre-season Loftus-Cheek was criticised by Mourinho as not working hard enough for the team. The Englishman says he was motivated to bounce back from that moment and learn from Mourinho’s words. “I listened to that,” he said. “If he says I have to work harder, then I have to work harder. “He is the boss and has won so many trophies and he’s one of the best managers if not the best manager in the world, so I will listen to him in any situation and try to better myself. “I went with away the [England] under-21s, so coming on I had to do my best and not dwell on the situation. So in that case I had to react to that.” Loftus-Cheek says Mourinho did not give him much advice before the game against Maccabi Tel-Aviv, although he believes that shows that the manager has faith in his ability on the pitch. “He just told me to play my normal football, to enjoy it - he didn’t say much to me as I think he believes in me. I just went out there and tried to be confident. “I just wanted to enjoy it, when you do that it brings out the best of me, I’m really happy about that.” At this stage of the season Loftus-Cheek insists he is not focused on playing a certain number of games for Chelsea. He just wants to show Mourinho what he can do and play with confidence. “I don’t have a goal or target number of games to play this season,” he said. “I just want make sure that the time I get on the pitch, I express myself and be confident. Hopefully that will lead to more games and minutes on the pitch.”
September 17, 201510 yr Hmmmmm not sure about that,i think that has shown that he is willing to give you a shot if you seize the opportunities presented to you, remember Azpi and Zouma,i would not be surprised to see him start against Arsenal and if he plays well against them who knows If RLC had cost £xx amount from a team in Europe then i am sure he would have been in the team a little more regular because he would have already been a proven player. As he is a product of the youth team it is more a slower build up. Look at the ones who have failed to make the grade for whatever reasons. I say give him as many games as possible against the lower half of the premiership (6 pointers for us at the moment so very important) and see at the end of the season if he has made the step up then if he has he should be ready for a regular place. I hope he makes it so the club/JM are willing to give others a chance.
September 17, 201510 yr Although I am as excited as most about they way he played yersterday lets not get over the top excited. He still has a long way to go to build the trust with the manager. Lucky for him, he is still very young and has a lot of time in front of him. I would guess that Mikel will leave in January or next summer and RLC will take his place behind Matic in the team.
September 17, 201510 yr Think he could play alongside Matic and allow Cesc more freedom to mvoe forward. Possibly would need to revert to a 4-3-3, or stick with the 4-2-3-1 and have Cesc compete with WIlian, Oscar, etc for a spot in the 3 behind Costa
September 17, 201510 yr I hope he is now in-front of Mikel and Ramires in the pecking order. Theres no reason why he shouldnt be.
September 17, 201510 yr He was awesome last night but against poor opposition, remains to be seen if he can do it against better teams, Very promising though love the way he drives through that midfield. I would be tempted to start him on the weekend but can't see Jose doing so.
September 17, 201510 yr The Pedro/Willian injuries could make it happen as Ramires may well start out wide. Just can't see Mourinho putting an inexperienced young player in against someone like Arsenal.

I would be tempted to start him on the weekend but can't see Jose doing so. I agree. He may not start vs Arsenal but hes earned some more playing time in general with that performance. The only reason Id start him coming up is because we've already seen how bad Cesc is this season next to Matic.
September 17, 201510 yr he might start in the 10 role vs arsenal with the usual fab-matic duo in central mid. Mourinho was saying before the game that Oscar wasnt ready to play 90 minutes, so i assume he wont be playing back to back games just yet. towards the end of the maccabi game he played a short period as a 10, so it may be that he interchanges with fab in that role.but probably not...
September 17, 201510 yr He's ready. Agreed but by that I mean not ready to become one of the first names on the team sheet or even an automatic starter, but certainly ready to begin that process. Proven himself worthy of being a squad player and one capable of competing with the first team players for those spots whilst still in his teams. I don't care how big the game is, if he is not at least on the bench I'll be dissapointed. If we fall completely out of the title race ( we aren't in it but we also aren't out of it right now. In a title race purgatory if you will) then his development has to be considered a top priority.
