Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Yet another injury and will miss the FA cup, turning out to be another Jack Wilshere imo. So much potential but injuries has more or less completely ruined his career, I really dont have much hope for him anymore as much I want him to succeed and be at his best.

He'll stay for next season but this time next year a big decision will have to made about him, especially if Gallagher has another successful loan.

Thing is that when Ruben's at his best he is a level above all our other youth players, and players like Gallagher, Mount and Barkley can't hold a candle to him... But if he does have another season where he barely gets a game because of his injuries, then it will be time to let him go.

I don't agree with that, you can maybe argue the case natural talent wise (in regards to his direct competition at CM, certainly not in regards to CHO, Gilmour) but in reality Ruben has had a serious problem consistently impacting games ever since he was in the youth team and he's non existent defensively.

Like I said he deserves one more season, but he has to stay fit AND deliver a consistent spell of form where he's impacting games for long periods else it's getting to the point he's using a squad place that would be of better use for someone else.

such a shame for the lad, I have such high hopes for him.  Loved his goal last season where he essentially carbon copied the goal Eden had just scored earlier.

I do fear injuries mean we will never see the best of him, and that next season will sadly be his last with his boyhood club

He is our Jack Wilshere.

The guys spends more time in Chelsea's rehab facilities whenever he's at Chelsea.

Guess his body grew too big too fast for him

Lamps didn't mention the nature of the injury but described it as a minor knock, I'm not giving up on him yet, hopefully it's a 1-2 week thing and he'll be back training again.

Yeah I want to see how he is for the full season. Everyone gets knocks.

Am i the only one who feels Lampard doesn't rate him that highly?. Like Hudson Odoi i dont think Frank feels he works hard enough of the ball and doesn't trust him defensively.

No i feel the same but when you say stuff like this some people get very defensive over him.

In that pre season he was phenomenal and i thought for sure he would start under Sarri right away but somehow he didn't and since than there were some ups but mostly downs from him. He has to convince me again.

Great energy, fighting spirit and body language. Makes everyone around him better. And he is only 19-years old. We are lucky that we have him and don't have to pay 120 millions.

Very disappointing.  I just do not see what he offers.  There is obviously quality there, but has trouble translating that from training to games.  He's like a driving range golfer!

Beyond that, he really struggled to grasp his role/position today.  Shame really as it took Mount and Havertz slightly out the game as well.

Barclay has much more to his game, i'm not digging RLC tonight, i've been at him for ages, he seems to lack lottos self belief, he had a great chance to impose himself on the game, he failed dismally.

I hate to say this about one of our own but he really isn't good enough, he was annoying me to Michy like levels tonight, soon as he went off we controlled the game and looked 10x better in possession, Barkley felt like Iniesta by comparison.

My heart wants to give him one last chance as he has got that run under Sarri as credit in the bank but my heads saying that was an anomaly and we need to cancel Gallagher's impending loan and send him to WBA instead.

It's sad but it's looking like his time is running out here, he needs to turn it around this season or he'll be sold. It looked like he was returning to form at the end of last season but his momentum was broken again, I'd like to give the benefit of doubt that he is trying but his body isn't doing him any favours, but if we can't get a good run of games out of him after so long then he can't be here taking up a spot.

I'm not ready to give up on RLC, but I'm ready to throw in the towel on him in a front 3.

I've yet to see him have a positive contribution from one of the wide positions in a front 3.

If we were short there tonight, Mason is more effective. Put him up top and RLC in the midfield.

Time is running out for him. He's now 24, so not a youngster anymore. Granted, injuries have not been kind to him but this season may be his last to prove that he deserves to stay at Chelsea. Lampard will definitely give him a chance and he has to exert himself before he finds himself out of the door.

Honestly, I've lost hope in him. Couldn't trap a pass and played weak passes every time. Never runs into a good position either. If he's there to add height, well, we have plenty of tall players now who adds height and more.

His so-called "pressing" is just him running beside the player. There's no threat, no urgency.

Feels as if he’s been playing in second gear ever since his return from injury. Whether that’s because of fitness, holding himself back or injuries have taken their toll, I don’t know. Previously he would coast around, the ball would come near him and he’d explode, just not seeing that any more. He gave the ball away needlessly time and time again, whether he was trying to nutmeg someone in his own half, controlling the ball poorly or playing a poor pass. How much longer do we give him?

Not a great game for him last night by any stretch but let’s try and keep a bit of perspective. It’s our first game back with a pretty much non existent pre-season. No one played particularly well last other than Werner, Zouma & Christensen - in my opinion. Admittedly RLC was the worst of the lot but it’s early in the season. I don’t think we should be writing any players off at this stage or saying we should sell them based on one performance.

I do worry about him long term though, I think he will pan out to be more of a squad player for us. He’s 24 now and he’s got a history of being made of glass. On top of that, it was a horrific injury he suffered which some players just can’t recover from.

He’s approaching the Lingard years of ‘having lots of potential’ without actually doing anything.

He needs to work his ass off to improve or this will be his final season at Chelsea.
