He’s still as inconsistent as a youngster, but whenever we’ve forgotten all about him, the coach brings him on and he performs. He then goes to sh*t next game, we don’t see him for a while and he then reappears as a great sub option. It’s really baffling. He could develop in to a more physical and athletically gifted Jorginho. The Lille players bounced off him. Offensively though that ship has sailed, injuries have taken some of his pace and he still holds on to the ball too long.
March 6, 20224 yr Interesting to see him starting to appear from the bench and to be fair so far has done well.

March 6, 20224 yr Of all the positions I imagined him playing in the two that didn't even cross my mind Tuchel has done in the last week.

April 2, 20224 yr Really like RLC but he’s nothing more than a squad filler IMO. I thought he started off the game really sluggish. When I found myself agreeing with Tony Gale in his assessment of RLC then I’m thinking he’s never gonna be a regular starter at this club the way it’s going at the moment. He just lacks the drive to make himself a starter and then push on and get back in the England squad.
April 2, 20224 yr should have been the further forward of the two rather than the sitter imo where when he drives with the ball he’s nearer the danger area. Kante should of sat.
April 2, 20224 yr Cheek is a bust tap at this level of football. The occasional turn and run just doesn't cut it. He is a coaster. Captains like Roy Keane or John Terry would be tearing him a new arse for his lack of effort. I wouldn't have him anywhere near the first team squad let alone the team.

I wouldn't call it lack of effort. He simply doesn't have the quality. Realistically he can't do much better than today. The question is, why is he starting Premier League games? Rotation? You've got Kovacic and Jorginho on the bench and probably only one of them will start against Real.

I think it's both, in fact more. Quality isn't there, effort isn't there, consistency has never been there and he strikes me as someone who can take or leave winning football games. I see him as pretty poor professional. Reminds me a lot of Carlton Cole.
April 3, 20224 yr Ah perhaps my greatest disappointment from the youth settup in my time as a fan. For some that was Josh. RLC seemed to have all the tools to become one home made Ballack. Ah how ridiculous that now is. Funny how you mention Carlton @loz as I did not put that together until you did but that is bang on.
April 3, 20224 yr RLC seems to be getting a lot of grief recently. I think he has been ok except getting caught on the ball in defensive midfield a couple of times. I'm not sure we should be starting with him though he does dribble ok and produces the odd decent pass / assist and rarely gets muscled off the ball.
April 3, 20224 yr He struggles with his back to the play and is far too casual. He is not suited to the modern game.
April 6, 20224 yr Yeah it’s time for him to go. He doesn’t do anything. Can’t even do a forward pass.
April 6, 20224 yr I actually thought he was more influential than for example Kante on the night. Him and Kovacic ran Madrids midfield ragged at times and Ancelotti had to adjust.

I have to agree with that, I thought that Jorginho and Kante had little control of the midfield and got outplayed easily while Kova and RLC gave more control to the team. Not saying that he was good, but really thought that Jorgi (other than the assist) and Kante were cut wide open by the Madrid players.

I doubt RLC would be seeing much playing time at the moment if it wasn't for the fact that some of our regular midfielders have been so out of sorts. Kante in particular is a worry.
April 7, 20224 yr Odd to pick on Ruben when Jorgi, assit aside was murdered by Reals midfield and Kante was well off his best, and broken down a few attacks.
April 7, 20224 yr I wouldn't be surprised to hear both Jorginho and Kante are getting some kind of surgery after the season ends. Kante was limping already against Brentford, and Jorginho had a week to rest and looked like he couldn't move at all due to his back problems. RLC needs to move on, but I believe we'll probably stick to him as a 5th option if we do get the chance to improve with our new owners.
April 12, 20224 yr Game of his career. Tuchel has some serious balls to play him on RWB position against Real Madrid. Show what your worth RLC!

Are we playing him at RWB though ? There's only two central defenders, so surely a 4-3-3 ? Unless James is RCB ahead of Christensen and Chalobah ?

By all possible lineups, he's there. I believe James will be in cover for speed against Vinicius, and RLC will be driving forward on the wing. His performance against Southampton got his the chance here.
April 12, 20224 yr Had an excellent game tonight, he stunned Real Madrid and they had no idea how to handle him.
