February 29, 201610 yr Traore? Yes. Abraham? I'm not so sure about that. If we won't give Pato a chance to show us what he's capable of, then the loan will be even more pointless. Yes I agree, but unless he shows us some real top consistent form between now and May we cannot risk having him taking up a space in the squad next season that Abraham or Solanke could have.
March 8, 201610 yr Why the hell we bought him and sold Ramirez. Ramirez had his moments. Pato is so sh*tty Guis don't want to risk with him. It's another WTF signing !!!!!

March 8, 201610 yr Because we got paid a lot for a back up player with a small brain and some good moments. we could seriously use him this season but wait we have Pato. Our squad is getting weaker and weaker. It's not necessarily who we sell but who we buy for replacement.

March 8, 201610 yr I didn't know Ramires and Pato were competing for the same role in the team. Unless it's for the same spot on the bench...
March 8, 201610 yr I reckon he might get game time tomorrow vs psg. I would swap him for oscar in the team and move hazard into no.10. Didn't pato do really well in brazil playing on the left wing?
March 8, 201610 yr It's far too soon to play him. He's not played football in months and against a quality side like PSG you just can't risk playing him, he's had zero minutes since moving here so it's not the game to play him in. Maybe if we are chasing a goal in the final stages put him on but I'd be very wary. Edited March 8, 201610 yr by Chelsbear
March 8, 201610 yr It's only match fitness or sharpness he needs. With Remy and Falcao being consistently unreliable with even making matchday squads, Pato will be a handy rotation option out wide or through the middle for the last six weeks of the season, particularly if we're still in both cups and trying to finish as high as we can in the league. March 8, 201610 yr Does anyone know if we are paying his full wages? I'm starting to think this loan deal is more of an extended trial. If he does well in training and in the few games he might get I think there's a good chance we'll sign him.
March 8, 201610 yr will he be on the bench as an option or just in case of an emergency is the question
March 8, 201610 yr To be honest, i don't care if he never plays, i would rather we keep on giving Traore more minutes. Edited March 8, 201610 yr by Scott Harris
March 9, 201610 yr "welcome Pato"... This thread was somewhat premature, 3 months later he still hasnt turned up!Everyone thought this deal was stupid before it was done. And so it is proven. If we knew he would take months to get into condition to even make a matchday squad, why bother signing him for a 6 month loan? We may get 2 months action out of him at best. And we're supposed to judge in those 2 months whether he is worth 10 mil? Who is Pato's agent? I feel like this is a case of Pato using Chelsea to draw attention to his desire to come back to europe, without him ever actually having to play a game. Surely there were other loan options available in europe to use as a short term option?
March 9, 201610 yr Pato is obviously here to train and get evaluated in training. No more than that. At the end of the season we can make a decision to bring him in. 3 months though...and if he were good enough would be at least getting a bit of a run by now. I'm sure he's gone back come summer.

I would give Pato a run out if we are 5-0 up with 1 min to go. Seriously given his record over last few years and how much he has played recently, me thinks the PSG game is a little risky.
March 9, 201610 yr This is up there with Arsenal signing Kim Kallstrom on loan. or Elneny. Can we all just take a moment to laugh at that signing please?

March 10, 201610 yr Might actually see him play now costa is injured. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not, but it's always interesting to see a new signing.
March 10, 201610 yr Have absolutely zero interest in seeing another mercenary turn out for this club in a half-arsed bid to restart their failing career. Give Traore or Abraham his minutes and tell him to put the cones out and clean the boots for six months so he can earn the right.

Is it a footballer earning a living at a club? Isn't Traore and Abraham in this category?

He turned down a hell of a lot more money to go to China, and I think it was reported he is on 30k per week here. About half of rlc's reported wage

How about I have zero interest in seeing someone take minutes from someone who has been at this club most of their life and has slogged their guts out to get to the brink of the first team?
