Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

Antonio Conte’s departure is expected to be confirmed soon after Saturday’s FA Cup final and Chelsea hope that by targeting a more attacking head coach, such as Luis Enrique and Maurizio Sarri, they might convince Hazard to stay. (Telegraph)

I had a debate with my Liverpool supporting mate today (he chats sh*t thinks Liverpool deserved to finish second, I was like so why did you finish 4th then?) but anyway. He was saying how badly we’re treating Conte and I proper lost my rag. People like my mate looking from the outside in don’t get it. Conte hasn’t shown the fans much respect, he looks sisnteteated, is constantly putting down players and wants to leave. This isn’t a situation where the club is only bothered about league position or the timing of an exit from the CL, this is about a man and a club who have fallen out, a man who refuses to accept any responsibility for our dire season and finally a man who appears to have zero respect for the fans. So yes while we have had harsh sackings in the past, Conte’s will be fully deserved. f**king Liverpool fans!

I know who I'll be cheering on in Kiev

Clue- they don't play in Red

Well known club sources Matt Law and Dom Fifield have both written articles in the last 12 hours talking about the downfall of Conte.

Similar content around the text to Costa, not trusting the board to move him on and falling out with Willian and Hazard and Luiz.

The similar content and timing makes me wonder if the Club is briefing against Conte here? Preparing the ground for his departure perhaps?

Seems odd timing on the day of an FA Cup final.

Yeah I read that article. It was interesting, especially the bit about how Costa sent the text on to all the players.

Doesn’t make sense it coming from the club but stranger things have happened.

I had a chat during the week with a Liverpool fan and he reckons they have City running scared already for next season and reckons they will win the league and the Champions league is a formality. Seriously. I had to ask when the delusion started or was he born with it? Come on Madrid and 19 teams next year.

No matter what happens I love Conte for what he has done for Chelsea, sacked or not in my eyes he is a great manager and a real lion. Next season Bakayoko will be settled in, so many coming back from loans, good times are ahead no matter what, if Conte gets sacked now, I honestly wish him all the best and thank him for the FA Cup title and Premier League title, some said Pep Guardiola is a genius but he couldn't win a title in his first season in Premier league while Conte in 2 seasons has won the 2 most important titles in English football.

I will say this, i have been criticval of Coutois for his technical skill as a goalkeeper, but i hold my hands up, his interview was excellent. Massive respect for him for his honesty and the accuracy of his comments. Also he is right, he has been very good these last couple of months. In a poor season he has actually been a highlight. I hope Conte hasn't broken this relationship.

Honestly if we had monster CMs, his style of play would work and be like Atletico. But we dont have the ingredients and he is still forcing the team to play this way. He had to find a new solution and didn't even try so it's time to go since no club can always guarantee players specific for your formation.

His comments and demeanor soured the memories but none the less, thanks for the cups and good luck for the future.

Have you ever heard so many noncommittal responses about a manager from players who have literally just won a major trophy? It sounds like they had all prepared their answers before the game irrespective of what the result might be. If Conte stays I suspect there might be major player unrest next season.

Weirdly i think whatever option the board choose, there won't be uproar.  I think a lot of fans would keep him if he played a bit more attacking football and got backed in the market.

Also, i think a lot of fans want him to go and are happy he can leave on a high.  Tough one, winning today though i am starting to think he might get a longer stay.

Had we lost, id have been in no doubt he is going.. not so sure now

Cahill in the post match interview wouldn't commit to saying he wanted Conte to stay. "He will do what's right for him and his family..."

Cahill knows he isn't staying and knows it's conte's decision.

Pretty obvious that the players are not that fussed about Conte - none comital responses and no players celebrating with the manager.

Just a matter of time until he goes..

No one can play attacking football with this players. Good luck with that, if you think we will have success with exactly this players and attacking football.

Conte said that the player restrict the style, and if we play more attacking(he said open) game against top team, because of the type of players we have, we lose this type of matches, and that`s why if we want to win, we played like that.

He said that after the final.

Good luck to play attacking football with only 1 class attacking player in Hazard side.

Fabregas is so slow and so bad, he is getting outrun by 40 year old defenders. He can`t even shot, because he is so slow, and he recieve the ball so, so slow.

We don`t have quality passers, neither quality players that can hold the game and have creativity in them. Only Fabregas is creative, but he is slow as hell, and he can`t hold the ball, because enemies player beat him and took him the ball in zero time.

Willan lack consistency big time. From the whole season he have 10 good matches, the rest he is shadow.

Last season we scored more then any other team, except Tottenham, because they scored 20 goals in their last 5 games against team that fight for nothing.

Even Guardiola with technical players, needed reinforcement, that fit his style.

You can`t play attacking minded football if you don`t have the right player for it.

Kante is insane in defence, but has zero in attacking. Bakayoko is a little bit above zero in both direction. Our WB aren`t top notch. Tho i have to say, Alonso is good, but he lack speed big time. And Moses is so so, but he is not even top class, you can even said that he is very good.

To be playing good football, you need a lot better players then this. You need quality midfielder, who can pass, has creativity in them, can build the game and have solid shots from distance, as well as can hold the ball, when needed.

Players like Toni Kroos or Modric.

So whatever the manager is, how exactly you want us to play attacking football with that exact squad?

In most attacking minded team, like City, Real, Barsa, even their central defenders, can pass the ball very good and can play against high press.

We don`t have such defenders, we don`t have such midfielders, and only 1 good winger, that is all.

Thanks Conte for all you did and for the 2 trophies that you give us.

I do think this would be our last 2 solid trophie for some time, but let`s hope i`m wrong, but with this policy ....

It`s funny, what the next manager should do, to keep his job ? He has to make double in his first season, then repeat, to not get SACKED?

When the next season start and the same sh**** repeat all over again, some people will pray for a manager like Conte, and they will finally understand how good he was and the real problem was Marina !!!

And again i will be RIGHT, just like i was back in the summer, when i said with this buys and leave it so late, we will crazy problems and not qualify for CL.

You can play attacking football with near enough any set of players. Lets not talk bs and start saying Conte only plays defensive football because of the players in the squad.

I suppose Conte only makes 80th min subs because of the players in the squad :face_palm:

I think Conte's tactics are very good, honestly if Morata wasn't such a flop who knows how much better we would be it's really sad that Conte wasn't able to get out of Morata the best of him where he would become the standard new forward...

You can't win much without a top player that is capable of scoring for you.

Obviously Spurs can't win anything no matter what :laugh2: but as soon as we find again someone that can score 20 goals in the league we can win the title again, last season it was Costa and he was enough, this season our top scorer is Hazard which is great but less than 20 goals in the league won't do it it was a major problem.

Just remember this season we won twice now vs Man United without letting a goal in, we won the same 1:0 vs Liverpool that scores all the time and we almost had a perfect game vs Barcelona at the Bridge but wasted a silly goal so Conte did get some good results but not having a top striker made us uncapable to finish off lower teams.
