Might as well close this thread now. He's a part of our history but that's what he is now, HISTORY.

We now have the best man for the job and what an all round improvement we've witnessed. One of the highlights of the season was blowing Utd away at The Bridge. Know a few Utd fans who tried to give it large after the "Mourinho Masterclass" in the return match at Old Trafford. Yeah, you can have that "Masterclass" all day long lads. Cherish it and cherish the most unspectacular unbeaten run of all time along with finishing in 6th spot, 20+ points behind The Champions!

The King isn't dead, he's just been Replaced - CONTE IS KING!

Gawd does Jose ever stop complaining moan moan moan

his press conferences are so painful why doesnt he retire and clear off back to Portugal and relax a little

Huge match for him on Wednesday. If he loses it, the United fans will get the knives out for him.

Its good job be Jose as his record in finals is incredible. He knows, unfortunately how to get teams over the line and just do enough.

Love Jose still but this has gotten embarrassing. He complains about one thing every week. Now he says Ajax shouldn't be in the final.

I agree with the premise though - just a bit of shame (as is usually the case with Jose these days) as to his timing. I'd like to know the stats for how many times this competition has been won by clubs exiting the CL.

Well, true. It makes sense but the timing makes this another excuse rather than the noble pursuit of righting a wrong.

One problem with this reasoning however is that we should also be questioning the CL entry for the winner (which he is banking on of course). If the winner cannot compete with the poor CL teams, they have no right to play in the next CL.

yeah - albeit this may be unpopular I don't think it should be the case either that the winner of the EL should be allowed to play in next year's CL either since it can of course cause injustice in certain circumstances to a team that has qualified on merit from the same league.

:laugh2:

That's one thing about being a compulsive winner, they just can't take not winning or know how to deal with it.

He finishes next season below the top 2 he's out on his arse I think.

Thing is they win the EL he will be all smiles and answering all the questions, you need to face the music when it's not going well but he just can't bring himself to do it.

That's his biggest problem imo, he's not had the same career path as most managers who have had a 20 year playing career and have had ups and downs and know how to handle it all. Mourinho is still way behind these managers in that regard, and it showed last season when he totally lost control of the players. That takes some doing.

Yeah he's only ever really known success, we saw when Barca were tearing up La Liga he lost it and started doing bizzare stuff like eye gauging other teams staff.

When things are going well and behind the scenes stuff is in sync Jose is an animal who can rarely be stopped however when something goes wrong he tends to not be able to handle it to the extent it becomes a disaster instead of a blip. It's why he can't sustain a long term project, once his effect has died down he doesn't have the tools to rebuild players belief and trust.

It's interesting to see how United deal with it all because we have always heard them say they show respect and do things right yet they have a out of control Jose on their hands who will walk out of pressers and blame everyone and their gran before he takes any responsibility.
