April 5, 20233 yr World freaking Class!!! Never doubt this man ever, all the fans who said we should let him go really need to give their head a wobble. 7 months out injured and he comes back in and performs like that. Give him the keys to the bridge!!!
April 5, 20233 yr @Mod. Please can we have the title of this thread changed to "N'golo Kante, we are not worthy"
April 5, 20233 yr @Mod. Cheers Mod👍and done so quickly. Next request please could you re-tile my bathroom?
April 7, 20233 yr I love him so much, i hope the board gives him an 8 years contract extension. Edited April 7, 20233 yr by DidierDrogbalala

April 13, 20233 yr Been reported that we have only offered Kante a Pay as you Play deal, no basic salary. So if he is not involved then he gets no pay. Hopefully that report is wrong. A base salary that goes up based on apperences I support, but if it is nothing at all if you don't play I find that to be quite disrespectful to Kante.
April 13, 20233 yr I'd rather release Pulisic, Kovacic and Ziyech on a free transfer than let Kante leave
April 13, 20233 yr Only good thing out of the last 3 games was Kante is back and looked good despite a long term lay off. We let him go, probably lost the only established world class player in the team. If only we sacked and paid off 1 manger instead of 2, money wouldn't be a problem to pay Kante. Let's be honest, pay as you go is an insult to him. He's a nice guy and all that, but not going to play for free.

I am fairly sure they are illegal in the EPL as the top leagues have minimum wage agreements negotiated by FIFPRO

April 19, 20233 yr Other than borrowing Kepa’s gloves, he played every position last night! So much for easing him in after a long injury, the guy is amazing!
April 19, 20233 yr What a player Kante is, truly world class. It does make me wonder why with all the breakthroughs with sports science so many players are injury prone these days. Kante's played 6 games all season after having amassed 422 games before that throughout his career. Lamps played over 900 games for club, Gerrard 750, Xabi Alonso over 700 etc. Can't remember any of these players having many particularly long injuries. Were players just built different 'back in the day'?

Pep even said Haaland spent more time in the gym than on the field (recovery, etc). Edited April 20, 20233 yr by Bob stark

Because the sum total of sports science research, and best-evidenced conclusion we have, is that you need to play less and recover more, and right now FIFA, UEFA and all the leagues are far more interested in players playing way past the threshold of burnout. Add to that tactical changes that require players to play much more intensely than ever, and you have a recipe for disaster. The first warning sign should have been that EPL's best two young prospects of the early 2000s, Fabregas and Rooney, were done with top-flight football pretty much on their 30th birthday. The real risk is accumulated fatigue, which is happening much sooner as promising 16-20 years are getting way more experience at first-team level relative to the prodigies of the past. Now consider that 35 year old Messi and Benzema are still outperforming the players meant to succeed them - Neymar, Bale, Hazard, Suarez etc. Players like Modric, Lewandowski, Thiago Silva and to an extent Ronaldo have shown what is possible, but they are still very much exceptions. Largely agree buts Lamps played 75 games in one season in 2006 and never had any major injury set backs and played late into his career.

May 14, 20233 yr Out injured for the rest of the season, no surprises there. Only managed 9 games all season long, at £250k/w that is £1.4 million per game. He has missed over 2 full seasons over games since he signed his last contract. Absolutely no justification for keeping him on unless he is willing to take a pay as your play deal, he is 32 and it will only get worse going forward

They are our best players yet because of their constant injures we can never build any long term stability.
May 14, 20233 yr It is a real serious concern with Kante. When he is fit, as we have seen even recently, he is brilliant but he is becoming less and less available. We cannot have one of our top earners be out of most of the season on a regular basis.

May 14, 20233 yr Could not record the moment he was injured, let alone to accept he's out of the season ( whether 3 or 5 games left is irrelevant). It will be a huge risk to offer him couple of years based on the pattern over the last 2 seasons, although I bet if he goes to another club, he will play 50 games a season without a sweat, typical of the state at Chelsea. What's going on with the medical team at Chelsea, are we still relying on the trainer of the FOOfighter?
May 15, 20233 yr With the amount of running this team is going to do under Pochettino it does make you wonder if Kante's body can be up for it. Another injury. Great.

You're spot on about him being "brilliant" axman in virtually every game since he has been back. It's amazing isn't it? Doesn't matter about the situation, doesn't matter about the manager. He just plays and is "brilliant". You know it, I know it, opponents know it, opposition fans know it. If only we could find one other player, just one, that could also be "brilliant".
