If Alonso had pace he’d be a great player, unfortunately it looks like he’s running through treacle whenever he comes up against a player with speed.

We need to sell one out of Alonso and Emerson.. dont care who. I think Alonso seems to be up pecking order. the way we play today we need our 2 wide CBs of the 3 to be very mobile.. dont think will be a good idea to deploy him in that role.

If, as seems likely, both Tammy and Giroud leave in this window, the top scorer left at the club will be Mr Alonso !

That's his big plus vs Emerson ... he can score goals ... plus his height at the back is very useful.

He's had a good start to the season, I'm glad we have kept him here. I don't want him back starting every game though, we have seen what happens to Alonso when he gets comfortable too many times now.

He is the anomaly in football. 

Tall for a fullback, slow for a forward, barely physical for a wingback but fulfills the job of a leftback, left wingback, left midfielder and a left sided forward.

If he had Adama Traore's speed, he'd be on Batistuta's level

i think he is one of the best Wingbacks in the world but one of the worst LBs simply put :).

He was everything and everywhere in the 2nd half. This man should have been born in a different time period, if he was born in the 50-60's where pace didn't matter as much, he'd be immortalized in a top club's history.

He was brilliant today, I was a bit worried when I seen the lineup given he was directly up against Salah but he didn’t give him much of a sniff, all the while being all over the park. Christensen was deserved MOTM for me but Alonso was right behind him today. He’s started the season very, very well.

I don't think he likes Tottenham very much.

Tottenham tried their own Emerson who did nothing to Alonso. 

Great performance

Alonso is playing better now than he did under Conte. Fantastic ball retention, fights for every ball. Chilwell might be kicking his heels for a bit longer.

I seriously forget that we have Chilwell at times.

That’s how good Alonso has been.

Got his place in the team on merit right now. Had a great start to the season so far. 

Was unlucky not to score today.
