January 29, 20233 yr Quite unfortunate. Considering the injury/competence issues we've had with our forwards this season there was a decent chance of Hudson-Odoi getting a run in the team. If he were to hit form at the right time or the new manager happened to take a fancy to him (which wouldn't have been out of the question considering how Potter used Trossard/March) it could have been his chance to cement his place in the first XI. As it stands, other than Havertz (and maybe Sterling/Broja), the transfers we've made suggest that the plan is to replace all of our existing forwards. Had a quick look at a Bayer Leverkusen forum and predictably couldn't understand a word. According to Google Translate, the most recent comment says "Quickly get rid of this vain suburban slut!" Their trolls are clearly funnier than ours...

He was truly a superstar in the making back then. Unbelievable what an Achilles injury can do. A career ending type of injury for attacking players, especially for explosive ones. IMHO he is done the very top, maybe it would be better for him to find a club like the Portuguese giants, or the Dutch giants, easier leagues where he would play every week and get his career back in track. He absolutely tore Bellerin apart that game who was considered a top RB at the time. He was 17 at the time and even the Arsenal fans gave him an applause when he got subbed in the second half, to my recollection.
March 10, 20233 yr Concerning that CHO time with Bayer has not been a rip roaring success. Has seen 0 minutes in their last 4 games and they have leaked to German media that they view him as a "harmless" player. With 1 year left on his deal come this summer I think Todd and Co may have trouble selling him or getting him to agree to the current type of deals we offer.

I was a big fan prior to this season but having watched a couple of Leverkusen games earlier on this season, I have to admit he has been pants. Looks to have fallen completely off the cliff; offers nothing going forward, hesitant in possession, and still can’t shoot. He is destined for a Crystal Palace or Fulham type team, but will need to come all the way down on his wage demands (max £50k/w). Most young players go to the German league to polish the technical aspect of their games, it just hasn’t worked out for him.

He shouldn't have bulked up, he looks far slower now than he ever did with us. Shame really, he had so much potential

March 10, 20233 yr Could see Fulham or someone taking a punt on him for £10m as backup/competition for Willian
March 10, 20233 yr Hard to see where he might fit in now ... we have plenty of wingers ahead of him in the queue, albeit a couple of them (Ziyech and Pulisic) will probably be out the door in the next transfer window, Even then, you could see Boehly buying in better replacements than CHO ... Potter will probably have a look at him in pre-season, and maybe he can unlock the potential using his people management skills and "player development" hat ? That said, I think probably only Colwill in the "legacy" loan army has any chance of making it back at CFC. Expecting 20+ players to be moving on next window,
March 10, 20233 yr CHO's head is his biggest problem. And as we know with someone 'great' like Lukaku, if your head is soft it doesn't matter what your body does.
March 10, 20233 yr It doesn't look good for him, sadly. He's still young though, but he probably needs to leave Chelsea permanently to go rebuild somewhere he'd actually be first choice. Not that I know what his level is at the moment. Top championship maybe? Holland? Hopefully we can sell with a buy back clause as we did with Livramento, in case he suddenly starts fulfilling his potential

March 10, 20233 yr Take whatever we're offered really. I wouldn't bother with a buyback clause. Just maybe a sell-on in case he moves for bigger money later on.

He was in talks with Bayern and was pushing for the move because he would have received an agent fee. Unfortunately for him callum signed with us and so he ended up pushing for the musiala to bayern deal.

He was also reportedly worried about Brexit and the potential lack of freedom of movement for his non English parents. If anything Callum going there would have made him even more likely to follow suit.

Hind sight is 20/20 but the point I was making was we should have focused on keeping musiala instead of the English hyped Odoi who hasn't improved since he was 17 years old.

How on Earth did we let Musiala go, whoever sanctioned that needs to be arrested for robbery. Hudson Odoi was very unlucky with injuries to be fair, pre-ACL injury he looked like an incredible prospect.

March 10, 20233 yr It's not like we just let him go. Musiala didn't want to sign an extension after speaking with Bayern reps. They sneakily tried to do the same thing with CHO. Think English clubs need to do a better job in general if they want to keep a hold of their prized assets when scouts from German clubs come sniffing around.

Bingo, Musiala decided he wanted to go back to his home country and to Bayern, that simple. CHO looked incredible in his early days, his injury has left him less than a quarter of that player. Sad but true, similar with RLC, he was looking Ballack esc until his injury on that stupid friendly.

April 16, 20233 yr Loan just has not worked out. Another game today where he was unused. Done some researching and seen his last start was on 19th of February against Mainz, in which he was subbed at H/T. His previous start before that was on the 25th of January against Bochum where he also was hooked at H/T. Since the 19th of February, they have played 11 games and most of the games he has either been warming the bench for the whole game and odd occasions, not been in squad at all. When he has come in, they have been no more than 15 minutes. Will be interesting to see what happens with him in summer. His wages are very high. If we sell him, I imagine we would have to continue paying his wages until end of his contract as his wages are really high. A shame as on paper this loan looked really good for him.
