Our squad is poorly equipped to handle the two games a week schedule. It was very obvious which side had a full week rest, we were too slow to react to every ball and it made things much easier for them. Plus, every game against us is a cup fnal for this shower of c**ts. Add to it an early goal whch gave them confidence and you've got yourself an uphill battle from the moment you concede.

As for individual performances, Bakayoko and Zappacosta continiue to compete hard for the most pointless signing of the summer award. The board thought they could get second time lucky after winning the title with panic buy combo of Alonso/Luiz on the last day of the market, but when you go bargain hunting every time you go to the store eventually you'll end up with a pile of mostly useless sh*t.

Alonso has regressed, and no wonder, he has neither cometition to keep him on his toes and push for his place nor an opportunity to rest properly because there's no other left wingback in the squad. Fabregas is a passenger when his passing is off, but we knew that already. Hazard and Morata looked very tired, but then again, they're being asked to create offence all on their own.

Drinklwater once again picked the worst time to get sicjk. We needed his intensity out there today.

Just now, Pendergast said:

They were mediocre because they were tired. Simple as that. That makes it bad lining up.

But you can't rest half the team if we want the 3 points. Like I said hindsight is a great thing, but you can't foresee your key players not turning up.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I don't think we lined up any worse than usual, but certain players didn't turn up. Hazard, alonso, zappacosta, morata, bakayoko were all mediocre today. You can't have players play poorly and expect the whole team to function at 100%

We did the same thing after Athletico and got smashed by Mancity. We can blame the Fa for not giving us enough days rest but for Christ sake Conte use your f**king squad.

Was a below par performance, but the overreaction and melodramatic attitudes on here after a defeat are pathetic.

You can't win every game, it's the way it is. People need to stop acting like we are guaranteed a win every match.

We were playing a team that is in the relegation zone and have been terrible all season.  We're the reigning champs who were sitting in the top three.  If you can't figure out our frustration then I'm not sure what to think.

Yes that's right, a manager with 70 percent possession and triple the chances NEVER makes a sub in teh first half "don't be naive" do you watch football mate, you're expecting him to do stupid things ask for a second opinion if you won't take my word for it

Donny, you need to chill, mate. This is not a pissing competition, no need for opinionated adjectives towards your forum fellows.

Why would a monkey mean stupid? That simply doesn't add up as monkeys are intellegant animals.

He's a racist horrible banger who was on here to tarish the forums name.

Stop digging a hole

Digging a hole with who? Why would a monkey mean stupid? Is that a serious question, because we are humans, so in context...you ever heard the term monkey business? Or did I make that up? It means making an arse of something, f**king around,  like the old joke about a bunch of chimps on typewriters, this isn't ground breaking stuff, been around for quite a while..

NOTHING SUSPICIOUS ABOUT THAT

I’m new here. How many posts am I meant to have? Not all of us have grown up with internet you know.

Why wasn’t Batman bought on? He’s our hero for late goals like the Watford game. And he’s well rested.

I don’t know why Moses didn’t start waste of a sub.

I really want Carlo back he  can reguvinate  Chelsea back to being a European superclub.

Donny Blue would be the guy saying
"Are you sure the fans on the Paris tube were racist? Why do you assume the worst when they wouldn't let a black person on while chanting "We're racist and we know we are"
Maybe if you questioned their behaviour, they might not be racist..."

And who would you be?  The guy 200 years ago lynching a black guy from a tree for looking at a white woman since that was in fashion then instead of being a SJW, both times accusing people of things without verifying? Reason I said it because monkey is not a f**king exclusively racist word, it's a an animal, when the teacher comes in to a class room and says whats with the monkey business because kids are swinging off the f**king ceiling, they mean that, foolish behaviour, not whats with the behaving like black people business, hardly a f**king stretch to say maybe the guy didn't mean that, her maybe he didn't it was a suggestion, don't try and put me out for prey because I tried to give someone teh benefit, thats what incomplete little men do.

Apologies for the language.

I didn't think anything could disappoint me more than the performance today until today until I read this comment. I sincerely hope he is banned.

You can be sure that kind of language will always be banned as soon as a mod spots it, and any one condoning it goes too.

Awful performance. Pretty much puts an end to any hope we had of catching City. We can't lose games like this...but we keep doing it.

Need to work to consolidate a top 4 spot.

This lose is on Conte 100%. First of all you cannot play the same 11 after intense game against Atletico. Not in December at least.

Second - not playing Batschuay was a huge mistake. I don't see any sense putting in Willian and Pedro when we were practically playing the same dumb football style, searching for break through middle. We didn't use our flangs and he ingored Michy for Willian and Pedro? Why... why didn't we move the ball to the wings, for god sake?

Third - against midiocre teams like wh we can afford to play with Cesc and Kante. Bakayoko just wasted 45 minutes. He left and I didn't see any problem with our middle.

Conte lost this match. And of course Torres but no need to say that.

Pointless playing the ball to the flanks when you have players that can't even cross a ball.

@coco You have my complete respect over how you've handled this situation, mate.
Just wanted to let you know that in the months I've been on this forum, I've been really impressed with level-headed authority you and the other mods have shown, I appreciate you guys.

There's a big difference between being an SJW and calling someone out on blatant racism. It is quite clear what the person who wrote that meant. I understand what you mean by giving that person the benefit of the doubt, but as I said, it's clear what they meant, so it had to be flagged. Leaving those kind of comments slide would give non-Chelsea fans the impression that racism is tolerated on this site, and given the actions of a minority of fans in the past, that would be a massive smear on the club's and fans' reputation, something that we really, REALLY do not need.

Absolute rubbish this one, right from the Carlo 10/11 handbook.

I can take losing if we go down kicking and screaming, like say Palace at home last season, but i can't accept the lack of urgency displayed today. Fair play WHU showed fight and desire but we just didn't atall look like forcing the issue, i lost count of the amount of times i shouted speed up when we were starting an attack, or the amount of times a promising attack ened up with a pass back to one of the back 3 or even Courtois. Conte seems to be developing quite the blind spot for the stereotypical traditional British manager, Dyche,Big Sam, Roy and now Moyesy.

We should have freshened things up more with selection, false 9 was required today, Morata is still acclimatizing to being a first choice and this was 1 match too far, we must learn from that mistake Tuesday. There's no need for 3 in the middle vs any team outside the top 6, especially with Kante here. Christensen had his first baptism of fire today but he will learn from it, i won't lie im starting to seriously worry about Bakayoko but at the same time he hasn't had a full pre season and that must be taken into account.

Hopefully United win tomorrow to keep our slim title hopes alive (i never give up until it's mathematically impossible, in 2008 we recovered from a similar defecit to take it to the last day) .

Crap performance, and i cant go along with the 'they're tired' excuse. I don't care how tired you are a simple pass is not going to knock you out, and most of our passing was truly pathetic.

I agree, i don't buy the tired excuse either, especially not on this occasion. Yes we had a mid week game, but it's not like we had to do much travelling. We played our mid week game at home and didn't exactly have to travel far for this one today. Also, i have seen far too many performances like this from us for it to just be about tiredness.

I just don't think we are going into every game with the right mindset. Too often we are going up against these bottom sides and putting in mediocre performances. One of our best performances of the season was against Man United, and that came after a midweek game too, and the midweek game was played away in Italy. So i don't buy the tired excuse on this occasion. We just didn't have the right attitude from the 1st minute and by the time we did get going, the damage had already done. If you are going to start games slow in this league, then the risk of defeat is high.

I don't think we lost because we were tired. I don't think we lost because of a lack of spirit or application. I think we lost because of a lack of quality.

We kept going till the end, trying our hearts out, but unlike City who always seem to find a way, we just don't have enough going forward. We rely way too heavily on Hazard, and teams can afford to put three men around him knowing we're pretty much toothless without him.

We started slowly again, which seems to be the way this season unfortunately, but I'm not going to complain about that. Neither am I going to complain about Zappacosta and Bakayoko, both of whom were pretty sh*t, again. Today I'm going to complain about something else. Willian and Pedro, attempting to take throw-ins when we're chasing the game and time is running out. If it wasn't so f**king tragic you would laugh.

Or just admit that west ham defended really well. We tried to score, but west ham were, as expected, super motivated to beat us at their place as they always are. It is what it is, one team either wins or loses or draws, no point crying over spilt milk now.

I know you are super positive about everything chelsea but I'm not as laid back as that, im more competitive and I hope the players are aswell. I understand the concept of football, but thanks for making that mind blowing point.

I think part of the problem is we are playing twice a week and many of our adversaries are not meaning they have extra time to prepare.

Many managers of middle to lower based sides in the EPL are actually quite good tactically and the fact that we play predictably means they can prepare quite well.

I got a bad feeling pre match when I heard they were going with Arnautovich as thought he  was capable of out muscling our CBs added to dropping Rudiger.

We got what we deserved from that game.

We had 86 minutes to score against the worst defence in the league and we failed.

The problem is when Hazard and Morata ain't on their game we are toothless up front.

Why am I not surprised? This is the second time we have lost right after a champions league fixture.

The way the team started the game I could almost feel that this was going to be a difficult game. Just when I thought we were starting to get the consistency we manage to drop points again.

Changing conte wont change anything..we need to sign the players conte wants and then we can account him..but with the current situation.. he didn't get the players he wanted.
