January 29, 20188 yr I think this is the signing that makes the most sense. A goal every two and a bit games for Arsenal and France is excellent, but what makes him a good fit for us is how well he enables the smaller plays around him. Watch his combination with Griezmann at EURO2016 or his work with Sanchez to see what I mean. Could work very well with Hazard and Willian. 35m may be overpriced though.
January 29, 20188 yr £35m for a 31 year old reserve player? Is this really what it's come to. Blimey.
January 29, 20188 yr I think Giroud is a top player. The price is a bit much if its true considering his age, but we are a bit desperate and its getting late in the window so we are bound to get fleeced. Also he can play in the Champions League unlike Dzeko. I'm happy with this, although I'd be happy to give Michy more opportunities. Edited January 29, 20188 yr by DarkMata
January 29, 20188 yr Giroud??? seriously? GIROUD??? GI-f**king-ROUD... the lampost? So apparently Conte does not rate michy's all round play but GIROUD is a 35mil option??? Well, this makes perfect sense to me.
January 29, 20188 yr Having sold Aubameyang Dortmond hoping to get Bats on loan as we go after Giroud.............don't see this one happening unless Arsenal cave or we give up a whole sack load of cash Meanwhile, Sport Bild are reporting that Borussia Dortmund have lined up their replacement for Aubameyang, with Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi to be loaned to the Bundesliga outfit. Dortmund had looked at signing Giroud but a move for the Frenchman failed, with the striker's family wanting to stay in England. Aubameyang's arrival means Arsenal will allow Giroud to move to Chelsea should their London rivals meet the club's £35m valuation. Chelsea discussed Giroud over the weekend as they are struggling to strike an agreement with Roma for Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri. January 29, 20188 yr What about the policy of over 30 year old players? 35 million is more than we paid for Kante... Giroud as a bench option would be acceptable but not for the price you could pick up a talented player with a long term future not a soon to be 32 year old bench player from Arsenal. If this is the direction we are going then we are in for a very bumpy ride.
January 29, 20188 yr Time is running out, it looks like it's going to be Giroud or Dzeko. Leave it to Chelsea to make a crucial signing on deadline day. I think Arsenal will want to sell as Giroud is beyond surplus if they buy Aubameyang, he has 1.5 years left on his contract so next season they could be looking at another Sanchez situation but for a player with much less value, I think they will be looking to cash in now. It will be easier to get Arsenal's third choice striker over Roma's first, I think Dzeko is better but Giroud is looking like the more attainable.

How often does Giroud get on and score that last dich goal? He does it a lot and his all around play is very good. I'd have him over Crouch or Carrol any day. The price is high but I am a fan of football, not an accountant. But is he even available? I doubt it.
January 29, 20188 yr The ripples of last seasons club record transfer splash out on Alvaro Morata are far reaching into the new year. Here we are supposedly scrambling around with days left in the winter window for a forward. And boy are we desperate.
January 29, 20188 yr I think that’s one of the problems, it’s known we’re desperate so clubs can hold us to ransom. I still have everything crossed that we are signing Dzeko and that it’s a bit of a smoke screen with the talk that deal is off.

January 29, 20188 yr I'm not convinced we'd pay so much for Giroud seeing how much we seem to be haggling over Dzeko. A great deal for Arsenal if its true, we pay £35 million for Giroud then they pay £20 million on top of that for Aubameyang.
January 29, 20188 yr Why the f**k did the board even think Dzeko would leave Roma and his 3-4 yr deal, for a 18month one here. Shambles. It'll be giroud id guess at this point. Batshuayi to Dortmund Edited January 29, 20188 yr by RickUK
January 29, 20188 yr I bet we'll end up signing Peter Crouch. I don't think Giround will sign for us on a 18 month contract either.
January 29, 20188 yr Don't think we'll sign any striker. We'll keep Batshayui and he'll be sparingly used.

January 29, 20188 yr I wouldn't mind Giroud, I've always rated him as a danger man, whenever he comes on against us, I get the feeling he'll score, despite being as slow as a snail. But £35m when we could possibly get Dzeko for £24m? No thank you.
January 29, 20188 yr £35m is too much money for Giroud, although I do think he is underrated. At the right price he could actually prove to be useful to us. My worry is now that we have left this so late in the window, again, we could end up playing with no stikers against Bournemouth. Morata is still injured apparently and if we then loan out Batshyui then we would need to buy a striker, have his medical and registration all completed by midday tomorrow!
January 29, 20188 yr Giroud is a f**king sh*t player. If we sign him I am handing back my season ticket. f**k all the people who are dragging Chelsea into the mud.
January 29, 20188 yr Think he would accept the 1 and a half year deal with option for 1 more year dzeko is turning down. He has 18 months left on his arsenal deal. Plus he gets to stay in London, a big thing for his wife we are told while dzekos wife is happy in Rome. Problem is the fee. We sold the cech for cheap yet they want to fleece us. Simple for me. Either they drop it to a more reasonable fee of say 20mill or we keep Batman.

Could we not have done a dela with BVB if they wanted Bats? the 30 odd million for Giroud and the rest for Michy, would have been a better deal than spending all that on a 31 year old deemed not good enough for Arsenal.

Desist forthwith with your berkish behaviour! You don't have a season ticket, and, if you did, you would NOT "hand it back". @Beerqueen Is that better?
