Zappa similar story, minimul loss at worst. Drinkwater does look like the one we are stuck with though, the ironic thing is he would have in my opinion done reasonably well had he got given the same chances by Conte the three above had. I know i am opening myself up here but didn't Drinkwater play as a holding midfielder for Leicester. With Fabregas leaving and Sarri's previous comments that he would rather work with the players that we have than diving into the transfer market, wouldn't it work if he he worked closely with Drinkwater to develop him as cover for Jorginho. Or maybe he has tried and already worked out he is sh!t. Although whilst he never really inspired me that much when i did see him i didn't think he was that bad.
January 28, 20197 yr Such a shame in reflection, best header of a ball i've seen at Chelsea in 20 odd years, and that includes, Terry and Drogs, so sad, started so well, that goal against utd Superbbbbb. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/chelsea/11613845/transfer-target-alvaro-morata Edited January 28, 20197 yr by Ballack & Blu
January 29, 20197 yr It still boggles my mind what happened to him back in 2017 when he was off to such an amazing start. Oh well, good luck at Atletico, Morata.

Better than JT and Drogba? I can't see that. He has very good aerial ability for sure but he wasn't the greatest at winning those mid-pitch flick ons. His timing was a bit hit and miss in those situations. Drogba is the best in the air I have seen in my lifetime so far. Him and Wyn Davies.

I have thought similar that maybe as cover he could do a job in a holding role and as he had a reasonable distribution he might stand-in to give Jorginho a break. Either he is still very injury prone or just not fancied, f the latter, then why not loan him.

He wouldn't even be in my top 10 in the last 20 years, mainly because he rarely ever actually attacked the ball Other than one goal that I can remember. He's certainly nowhere near the likes of JT, Drogba, cahill etc.

Movement, timing, how good they are from a standing start, how well they leap......

Yes, he was mostly a deep-lying playmaker who covered for Kante's forward forays. However, Kante would return the favour whenever Drinkwater advanced.

Yep, his leap and his timing was phenomenal for a small bloke. Just shows that with the right technique and athletic agility you don't have to be 6ft plus to be a quality header of the ball.
January 29, 20197 yr Funny how none of the 3 strikers we were linked to at the time Morata, Lukaku or Belotti had a great 20 months.. I wouldn’t want any currently..Even right now, I will still like to have Belotti

I have seen Terry and Drogba score some brilliant goals with their head. Drogba's first ever goal for us was better than any header I have seen from Morata.
January 29, 20197 yr The 5th goal in the video was against Bayern at their old ground. I was there that night. His header past Oliver Kahn was staggering the run, the direction, the power he generated from the cross, it was in the net before could Kahn could move. Thanks so much for that compilation Scott. Great stuff.

Morata scored a great header against United but he also missed loads aswell, and did he ever score with his head from a corner? I'd even go as far as to say poyet was better in the air aswell.

February 9, 20197 yr Morata’s scored a great goal against R Madrid only to get it disallowed as off side. To me it wasn’t off side, he was in line, but they’ve used VAR.
