He seems like the reverse of a Simeone player. That said anywhere but Chelsea is a good place for him. Ridiculous how bad that window was. Bakayoko, Zappacosta, Morata, Drinkwater. Lucky Rudiger saved it from being a complete disaster.

Well at least we'll be saved against any new disasters for the next two transfer windows at least
June 23, 20197 yr Hopefully we'll have a clearer idea of what we want to be by then too, which should make it easier to sign good players. Edited June 23, 20197 yr by Spiller86
June 24, 20197 yr Best to cut our losses with Morata sooner rather than later. I've never seen a player look so bereft of confidence as he did when he was playing with us.

Or a player who never seemed to adapt to the physicality of defenders, or what constituted a foul. After the 15th weak fall to the floor under the slightest contact with no foul called, you'd think he'd start to understand how it works.
June 24, 20197 yr One of the most mentally weak players to pull on a Chelsea shirt in my lifetime. Everything is always someone elses fault, never his, and the slightest hint of things not going his way and he collapses. Makes Torres look like a gladiator.
June 24, 20197 yr Kind of ironic that all the problems were with/in his head, and yet his head is also the only thing he seemed to be able to score with consistently.

To be fair, Torres did already own his own costume.

June 29, 20197 yr Sad thing is, he is probably our best striker. He looked totally uninterested for most of time he was here, i can only imgine how petulant he would be if we recalled him. After the commemts he made, there is surely no way back for him.

I agree even his unmotivated depressed self is still in some ways better than our other options next season. I think he was happy at the start of last season with a clean slate and new start and new number, but the poor finishing continued and he was obviously affected by being the butt of jokes again. I don't know if it's normal what he described - players giving off a sense they don't trust him but that is something that can be very psychologically damaging. I've been in teams at work where I was the weakest link and even though nobody openly spoke up about my performances being an issue, I could tell they'd rather I be replaced and it killed me.. Still it was an environment I got used to the longer I was there and I could survive and improve in it, but it definitely takes a toll of you. Edited June 29, 20197 yr by sonic90

It was a bit harsh for them to put a new start on McChicken Sandwich duty. Surely you should have started on table duty.

July 3, 20197 yr Madrid just spent 120m on that felix kid so can’t see them splashing another 50 on our morata. Shame
July 3, 20197 yr We shouldn't be entertaining the idea of selling Morata anyway. OK he is no Van Basten and has the fragility of a teenager at a Michael Barrymore pool party however, like it or not, Abraham is never going to be a top striker and Giroud is to goals what Australia is to cultured dinner conversations. Morata is still the best striker on our books and we can't afford to be picky at the moment. We need to recall him and hope Lampard can get a game out of him. Who cares what he may have said about not wanting to come back. Let's not get our knickers on a twist about some delusional 'love my club bollocks'. It's not like he bad mouthed your sister then asked her for a pokey bum w**k.

Shame They are getting a combined 150m for Rodri and Hernandez, so it has basically been a wash between those sales and the purchases of Herrera and Felix. I think they could still buy Morata, they will be selling Griezmann, so there's another 120m to spend. Edited July 3, 20197 yr by mwblue10
July 3, 20197 yr Author Morata first season 31 prem games, 2065 minutes, 11 goals (7 headers, 1 left foot, 3 right foot<hat trick against stoke with one recognised defender)

He’s not very good though, so when you add to the mix he doesn’t like England, English football or the club then I think you would be very naive to think it would work in our favour keeping him.

Best of a bad bunch though. Naive keeping him if we could buy a 22 year old fat Ronaldo, an 18 year old Romario or Robert Fleck but we can't so it's negligent rather than naive to let him go and end up rotating a striker who will never be more than championship level and one who looks comfortable in slippers reading Alexandre Dumas novels but less so in a penalty box.
