Although in all honesty if you think about it, given the rates of quality keepers like Allison, DeGea and Kepa in todays transfer market, dont u think 35 is a bargain for Real ? So in a way, we did lose money ;-)

January 21, 20197 yr Making a loss on a 26 year old. This one turned out to be a pretty bad transfer all round for Chelsea. Frustrating.

Could turn out worse yet. This is only a loan with an option to buy. Come the summer he could be back with us again, and worth a lot less than he is now.

I think it's either this or keep him... His value will probably drop less playing for Atletico Madrid (he might even do well back in Spain) than it would sitting on our bench.
January 21, 20197 yr I’m seeing reports that Morata is being sold rather than loaned. I really thought it was a loan? I saw ‘being sold’ on Sky sports.
January 21, 20197 yr Surely won’t have met any targets to have to pay more than 58 million. Didn’t work out maybe the premiership not the place for him. Glad he’s going, but wish him well.
January 21, 20197 yr Let's all pray to God that neither "falling down", "missing a 1v1", or "complaining to the official" were among his bonus/add-on categories otherwise we're paying the whole lot.

Plus a loan fee aswell id imagine, not that big of a loss. We rolled the dice, it didn't work out, and we pretty much got our money back. Best of a bad situation. I think we were always onto a loser that summer, it seemed like a toss up between Lukaku, morata, and Belotti!

January 22, 20197 yr We just mugged poor Atletico. Reminds me of the Oscar deal to China for a whopping 60 million (approx) a few years back.

If he doesn't perform they'll simply just decide to not buy him though. So if Morata plays like he's done with us he'll be back in a few months time.
January 22, 20197 yr If he ends up scoring tons for Atletico it will mean that Chelsea has no clue how to train strikers anymore.

January 22, 20197 yr I can see it happening ... Morata leaves, then the Higuain loan deal hits a snag and doesn't complete, and we go into the business end of the season with Olivier Giroud as our solitary striker !
