Mateo Kovačić

Felt that, like RLC, there were opportunities around the Madrid box when he could have been more positive in running at players and forcing them to make a decision that would have opened up space for others.

For 75 minutes he and Kante mostly controlled the midfield and set the tempo.

Both kante and kova looked knackered. In perfect world, Tuchel would have brought in Jogi (not sure jorgi can keep up with that game) or even better don't play kova and kante against soton and even betterer 😬😬 don't play kante against brentford.

Such a brilliant player. What a performance. Most underrated player in squad/league. He is one of the best CM around honestly.

I think it’s fair to say he is. Yet the thread recently went off on a tangent about his deficiencies vs one of the best players in the world who plays in a different position. What does he have to do? 🙂

Happy that he's back at least.

And 10 days later...

No way he comes back any time soon, his lower leg was bent round like a quavers crisp. ffs

I'm amazed he lasted 5 minutes before he came off ... maybe there is hope ?

My thoughts as well , generally if it’s really bad you can’t put any weight on it at all. If there’s no serious damage I could see him being risked, especially as I think there’s 5 substitutes.

I was thinking Kovacic could be the key to the FA Cup final for us. Now that is out of the window pretty much.

Injuries have done our season. We were in a brilliant form before Chilly and Reece got injured.

Now Kovacic is injured because Kante is injured. TT would have played Kante for sure to protect Kova for Cup final...

A big blow for me, I fancied Kova to carry us over the line against Liverpool now it looks grim unless a proverbial 'lightening strike' hits someone like Alexander-Arnold or VVD, a pulled hamstring will do.

There is always the chance something will turn our way.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening.

In retrospect am sure TT wishes he started someone else rather than Kova. He knows what a huge blow that is to us.
