Most used in Leipzig with 4-4-2. Lampard's 4-3-3 might come to an end or Tammy/Pulisic will be seriously challenged for their place in the starting lineup, a 3-5-2 could be a solution as well and we saw some similar formation to that this season. I actually think he switch between 4,3,3 and 4,2,3,1 next season. Timo for me will play wide left most of the time. You need 4 wide players now for all the competition we play in. Timo gives us goals from a wide position it also stops teams risking players on the counter. if Timo hits the ground running with Pulisic, Ziyech and cho we have enough goals from wide to easily get into the top 4.
June 25, 20206 yr I, probably along with most decent people, am struggling to reconcile the two positions that he is both American and good at football. Maybe it's some distant Yugoslavian roots... maybe I didn't want those grapes anyway.

They will soon invade the EPL 🙂

As amazing as he is I think that he's not even close to his top potential yet and he might just keep scoring the way he's playing right now, he just seems to have that special instinct that only great players possess.

Agree on that, I saw him as a good signing at the time and convinced if he can stay fit he will be a very important player for us.
June 25, 20206 yr You are absolutely correct. I look forward to a Pulisic that is age 24 - 28. His natural instincts, you just can't teach that. You're born with it.

Spot on, he just seems to be at the right place at the right time and yea I mean he's doing so well but he's still only 21 and this is after all only his first season in the PL.
June 25, 20206 yr I'm really surprised he's turned out to be such a goal scorer for us as he never scored many in Germany. He has already surpassed his former goal scoring record despite his injuries and us still having 7 games to go. He's developing into a nice little player and I'm looking forward to seeing more from him.
June 25, 20206 yr Thought he was fantastic tonight and clearly has that natural instinct for goalscoring, could be a massive player for us in the coming years. Exciting times.

Youd be surprised but theres a lot of young talent coming out of America and Canada at the moment, world class talent at that potentially.

They say this 17 year old American kid at Dortmund today can be even better than Pulisic. You will hear his name next season. Bonus, his dad used to play for Man City back in the days.

Gio will be good but he doesn't have even close to the goal scoring threat that Pulisic did at the same age.
June 26, 20206 yr Easily our best player for the last 2 games. I don’t see a problem with Werner arriving. It gives us different options, quality in depth, competition etc I would be intrigued to see a front 3 of pulisic Werner Ziyech

June 26, 20206 yr He had so much to do before scoring that goal, it was nothing like that Arsenal kid who scored against us from the Kante slip, it was a fantastic goal.

Football hasn’t been promoted in America for several years compared to other sports, I think the expansion of tv rights across the world has definitely increased its popularity and more people actually want to become football players which has led to people like pulisic

Promotion is a part of it, but the bigger thing is having quality academies which have just started with MLS sides. Prior to this players would play for traveling teams or YMCA teams which cost money and the coach was usually someone's dad. And there is no guarantee that he has ever played before or even knows the rules. The coaching here can often be a joke. When I was 16 my little brother (9 at the time) signed up to play for a YMCA team. They asked for volunteers for coaching. I said I would help because I first started watching the sport and was interested. I figured they would just assign me under some adult. They made me the head coach knowing I was 16 and only really watched soccer on TV. The refs were actually people I went to school with and they didn't know the rules. I actually mentioned to one of them that an opposing player was offside. He didn't know what I ment by offside. Then they would play in high school (age 14 through 18) being coached by a guy who's primary profession is teaching school and gets paid a small amount to coach the team on the side. Coaching might be a bit better here cause they usually try to get a teacher who has played before usually at the high school level. At University (age 18 to 22)they might have a person who's paid to coach exclusively but most of the competition is not going to make a career of it. The biggest problem has always been development. The best players in Europe join pro teams academies and get professional coaching throughout their childhood. At the same time Pulisic scored his first goal for Dortmund, if he had stayed here he would have not yet met a person who's primary profession is coaching football. His coach would have been someone who teaches history or literature or science. His competition would have been people who would never even come close to being good enough to play at even the lowest divisions. Edited June 27, 20206 yr by Valpo
