Never ceases to amaze me how some of our fans have less patience than a starving cat at 20 past tea-time, and turn faster than milk left in the sun in August.

Probably something to do with modern society and the need for everyone to get exactly what they want, exactly when they want it, encased in gold wrapping paper and providing superfast broadband to their 3-week old telephone.

I blame the parents.

And Kenyon.

I obviously don't know for sure, but FL must have been interviewed for the position he currently occupies and I would be amazed if, as part of the interview process, he wasn’t asked or volunteered his vision for the future ........” where will we be in 3,4,5 years time and how do we get there ?” Presumably he did ok cause he’s sitting in the seat.

I don't imagine for a minute that its a coincidence that he has publicly drawn parallels to Klopp, his time at the Micky’s and how long it took him to go from also rans to CL & PL winners - so I am expecting that Frank will have a plan for the next 2/3/4 years , including recruitment etc that underpins his intentions (or at least I f**king hope he does!!) and that this will have been “agreed” by the board ?

I’m hoping that the attacking recruitment the club has undertaken this season is stage 1 and that there are plans to recruit further next summer and the summer after until he has “his” team which will be title winners and smashing the CL too.

Maybe the club didn't see any value In what was available defensively during this window and that what was available (and at what cost) was no better than those already on board - hence the signing of Silva, which I don’t think was planned until very late in the day and maybe the youth/academy team coaches have a new JT in the wings that will be ready in a couple a years ?

Anyways, long winded way of saying , barring Roman being Roman, Franks in it for the long haul I believe - and f**king good luck to him !!

There's plenty of posts jumping to his defense as soon as a finger is point in his direction, all you have to do is look.

Majority of people on the forum are asking for patience with Lampard & understandably so considering we have a number of new starters in the team and we are 5 games into the league. I haven't seen anyone stating that Lampard is immune to any sort of criticism.

In addition to this I think Lampard has a lot of credit in the Bank at Chelsea and I wouldn't be surprised if you found support for him here even if he got us relegated.

I wouldn't be that fast to pull that trigger, we have young players and Jody has been working well with the youth so he has a good role during this transition.

Is that the role of the main assistant-coach?

I tried to point out that we have young players that we are trying to make our standard options for the future, someone like Jody that has been involved with the development of the players is good to have because he knows how to work with them. I think that it's known that Jody is a good coach overall and he was Lampard's choice just like the players we signed.

It's a bit silly really when if these youngsters wanted some sort of instant gratification they could just take up smoking like normal people.

Roman could be entering new territory. Frank is after all one of his own. Roman has tried all the top managers over the years and the hire and fire formula has had its successes. I just feel that as long as Roman sees a blueprint for future success he will stick with Frank. Roman is a fan and he sees whats happening on the pitch. I'm sure he and the rest of the board can see there is a problem in defence and that they need to strengthen. Maybe they think its a coaching problem, who knows. Roman may be in touch with JT as we speak, but I'd like to think a bit of slack will be cut and that Frank is part of a long term plan.

I'd also like to think that Covid will be over by Xmas.

I think that JT has previously said that he is not interested in becoming a defensive coach. He has plans to become a manager in his own right and we may well see him in the Champ relatively soon doing this.

Reading my post back it does appear I'm suggesting JT as a defensive coach but what I was alluding to was that Roman may at some time may want him as manager.

It seems a little strange to me that JT is entering his third year as AV assistant coach. In todays world of fast track career trajectories he could have taken a job as a number one  before this season. I don't know if he is still doing his badges but I'm sure he will have received some offers. Maybe its the smart move to stay until Villa have some success and then take a number job next season. Maybe he'll carry on at AV but Dean Smith has signed up until 2023 and I can't see how JT staying that long is a smart move for somebody who wants to be a number one.

I agree with most of that Andy, except the bolded bit.  Covid won't be over by Christmas, nor likely the next one, and it is most probable that it is going to be with us forever in one form or another.  We still don't know if people who have been infected are now immune, or for how long,

If they manage to cobble through some sort of vaccine by next summer, it won't come out to the likes of you and me for a long time, and, like the flu, covid will mutate and affect people again.

I honestly think the best we can hope for is that we all learn to live sensibly with it, the majority not being affected that badly, and medium-sized numbers of people getting very sick or dying.  This time next year, if I'm still here, I expect to be having conversations like "Did you hear about old wossname, he caught it and died" or "I heard that Pete's had it, he's sorta recovered, but his lungs are a bit f**ked now, still, mustn't grumble, I managed to get one of the thousand tickets available for Saturday's match"

I think it was a "pigs might fly" sort of closing statement, Yorkley....

Not that I’m saying Frank should go but it will be interesting to see about his contract as it is up at the end of this season. I guess we’ll know in the next few months if it will be renewed.

Thought it was longer.

#Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ‘courting’ Max Allegri, with the idea being the Italian would be lined up in case Frank Lampard is shown the door

Looked far better organised defensively today, but that double substitution on 90 minutes was quite bizarre, when he does things like that I’m really scratching my head.

He needs to stop the 2 cdm nonsense and play Kovacic with either Kante or Jorginho.

Yep I would agree with that as well.

One thing is not fluctuating - the lowest amount of points to get in top 4 for a span of over a decade. This, my friend, is pure luck due to bad competition.

Yeah and Sarri's points total would have usually been enough but it didn't stop the "lucky" rubbish.

Also no one expected us to get top four last season, 66 points is almost always enough to finish Europa, which almost everyone swore blind they'd be happy with if we if we promoted youth and not only did that turn out to be a steaming load of cock and bull but they went after those very youngsters as soon as they hit a sticky spell.

The bolded bit was meant to be read in the context of the previous sentence where I said " I'd like to think that a bit of slack will be cut" for Frank. By doing this I was infering that Frank stands as much chance of a bit of slack being cut as Covid being over by Xmas.

I have friend who caught Corona Virus (as it was in  those days) at the end of March. He was 65 years old, type 2 diabetic and obese.  I spoke with him on the friday and he was fine. By Tuesday he was in the Brompton Hospital with lung failure and in a coma. After that he had multiple organ failure and we all thought he was going to die. He remained in a coma for 5 weeks. We were astounded when he came out of the coma just after 5 weeks. At the time he had spent more time in coma due to Covid than anyone else. (The papers wanted to do a story on him but now it is becoming more common for people to spend this amount of time in a coma and survive.) He lost 3 stone and had to have physio to learn how to walk again but when I saw him after about 2 months he was the healthiest I had ever seen him. He could still feel something on his lungs but he was back at work and expected to make a full recover. The strange thing is it has changed his personality. He is almost philosophical about life now whereas before he was a business monster.

Yeah, sorry about that, I missed the nuance, and so totally agree with your original post.  Sorry that your friend had to go through that, but really glad that he has comer out the other side.

Don't worry Andy absolutely everybody else understood what you were saying. The smiley below was developed by Gem for Yorkley years ago when his senility first started kicking in.     :irony:
