He got it right today. Picked a mobile team to stop Burnley playing. Mount and Kante were superb. I'd like to see more of this and less Arsenal style tippy tappy nonsense with 80 percent of the ball, no cutthrough and vulnerability to the counter.

Couple of bad give-aways from Havertz who was less impressive but credit to everyone else. We played well after a big European trip and we weren't complacent at all.

I don't want to tempt fate, but so far all of our signings look top class.

Chilwell - The one I had most doubts about, including many on the forum. But he looks a player so far, slotted in the team as if he has been here for years. Good going forward, good at doing his defensive duties. My god have we missed a competent left back or what? We haven't had a proper LB like this since Ashley Cole/Felipe Luis. And to top it off, he's only 23.

Mendy - What can I say? HUGE improvement, like I said in the thread he makes Kepa look like a joke, the contrast between them is insane. We finally have a keeper that can save a shot and comes out of his 6 yard box to catch a ball, just for that he could easily be signing of the season alone.

Silva - Love him, everything about him has just been great, he's a great partner for all of our CB's to play with. Commands the area extremely well, experienced and his passing and playing out from the back is super slick. I had no idea he was that good on the ball, I think he wasted a lot of his career in Milan and PSG, to me he looks good enough to have been playing for the top top teams of the last decade.

Ziyech - From what little we've seen he looks QUALITY. I'm not fully sure what his position is going to be though, he seems to like to play very central, but from what I've seen his link-up play, passing and vision is going to really come in handy. Very Cesc Fabregasish when going forward, at least I got that vibe.

Werner - He's doing very well so far and he has been pushed out wide in half the games he has played in. He has 5 goals already, looks very quick, good movement and good in front of goal. We currently have 3 very good striker options, that's great.

Havertz - Looks top class, a lot of money, a lot of pressure, he had a slow start but he's fitting in and looking promising. I think Havertz will take some time to truly settle than the others, but I do think this signing is definitely worth it for the price paid, he has a bright future.

Malang Sarr - I've heard he's been playing well for Porto. Free transfer, very young, a lot of experience. Even if he doesn't appear to be Chelsea material, we can probably make a good sale on him in the future, good transfer.

So far I'm very happy with the business we've made. Fingers crossed this post ages very well.

Very happy with the game yesterday, and although I had my doubts about Frank I have to hold my hands up and admit he is really starting to get it together and well done is deserved.

I like the way we recently start off slowly and steadily, keeping it safe and simple, not gambling throwing numbers forward. Then as the game goes on we start dominating more and more, the moves looking quicker and crisper the more the game goes on, probably due to the opposition having less ball and having to work harder they tire first, whilst our smaller players seem to have more gas in the tank. Feels great finishing strong in games, that's how leagues are won.

My wife looked at it and said "those other team boys seem to be running around like little Jack Russell terriers.  They'll be very tired in the second half"

That's a pretty accurate description :drinks:

So Lampard's defensive tactics weren't the problem afterall, it really was the players. Mendy, Silva and Chilwell have transformed our defence and are really showing just how poor the likes of Kepa, Christensen, Rudiger and Alonso were last season.

Idk if you can say that so easily. The new players help a lot for sure but Lampard also changed his approach, he is also learning by doing and it seems those massive holes between defense and midfield are no more.

Mauricio Pochettino in talks with Manure about replacing Solskjaer...maybe we should be talking to him too...let's face it FL  and JM are at a EFL Championship level.

Poch builds good teams yet is unlucky stay well clear, IMO.

Frank seems to building a good team too.

One thing that cannot be taken away from Lampard is he has sorted our squad right out. Remember our feelings in 18/19?

We longed for one reliable forward who can consistently put good numbers (15-20 plus) in and now we have 2.

We longed to have multiple matchwinners instead of just the one and we've now got that.

We looked green with envy at the productivity from Liverpool's fullbacks now we have a pair who can compete with them going forward.

We wanted the academy boys in and mixed with top signings and that's exactly what we've got. The recruitment has been sorted right out.

Nearly all the deadwood complained about under Conte, Sarri and last season are either gone or have been given severely reduced roles.

The jury is still out on whether Lampard can tactically mastermind our route back to the top himself but even if he can't and we need to get someone else for that bit, he will still have played a huge role in the next era of success.

We have better options across the squad I agree. What's nice is it seems Marina, Frank and Petr have all worked closely together on this.

Why? We're starting to do well now, good results and performances. One thing Frank had to do this season to avoid getting sacked was sharpen up the defence, and by the looks of things he's acheived that task.

Does he? Who knows who identified Warner, Havertz, Chillwell etc. There's no doubt that FL name probably helped in attracting players to The Bridge but let's face it...he's at least 5 years off being a Chelsea manager...

How exactly is he 5 years off being a Chelsea manager, considering he got us to 4th last season in a season that experienced managers could barely handle.

I was one who would have liked Lampard to have more managerial experience before he got the Chelsea job, and there are times I still think more experience would have benefitted our results, but he isn't doing so badly, is he. On the contrary...

He's doing well. I've still got my doubts about his ability to control and win the big games, but with the squad we have and with more experience hopefully he can continue to evolve as a manager.

Why? Just his second season and I don't see anything conspicuously lacking in Frank. Players seem to want to play for him and respect him, he's clever and articulate, got a good relationship with the higher ups and his staff, he's close to sorting out the defence, our attacking play is beginning to improve. Our youth have a clear pathway into the 1st team, something that few managers will find the need to invest in,

Klopp too 4 years to get Liverpool at the top. Why would we be willing to give Frank any less time to prove himself given all else that I mentioned?

I am happy to wait another 2-3 years to start winning trophies while Frank and the team gain experience and evolves. Only good things ahead and one of the stupidest things we can do at the moment is to not be patient and let go of a potentially special long-term manager.

Well this is something different, it's usually the flops people try and hint at being board signings!

Looking at the way the results have panned out since the United game, do you think Frank was right to play it safe for a draw or do you think we should have risked it and been slightly more attacking?

I think united were there for the taking but frank got it right overall
