Fun season ahead?

Ok so this year we had to sit through half the fans bitching and whining all year about how much they hated Sarri, and how 3rd and a EUFA cup wasn't good enough etc etc. Now it seems like the coming season we'll have Frank back, a transfer ban and a squad full of kids.

Now I'm not sure I can handle another 9 months of misery and whining, so how about we all agree to treat this season as just a good laugh, and not give a sh*t about things like league position and cups and all that? Let's pretend we're back in the 80's when we never expected anything, and a win was a surprise pleasure!

Also we will probably get the added bonus os watching all the plastics f**k off to Liverpool and City! It's a win all around! ::MooNeY::::ChELSeAFaN::

TBF its how I treat every season, still have an extra beer when we get to 40 points and probable safety

At the end of last season and the previous one, I was glad the season had finished and a break from football, now I can't wait till Frank's return and the new season, roll on pre season at Reading, hope Reading are prepared as there is going to be a huge travelling support to welcome Frank.

Oh if only this could be true, the wonderful roller coaster of the 80`s where we would beat Man Utd easily then get battered by Rotherham...marvellous times.

Ahh, yes, the wonderful days of watching Doug Rougvie. The pitch looking like a sandpit and the chairman wanting to put up electric fences to keep our lovely fans under control.

You know that won't happen and as soon as we hit that inevitable bad patch where we get spanked and sit 10th to 6th we know what will happen.

If you don't mind me asking, has there been a single time in your Chelsea supporting time where you've actually.. enjoyed yourself?

Every cloud has a silver lining.....

There was much more of the way of smiling and laughter at the Bridge when we were crap.

Gallows humour it’s known as.

Sorry, but you dont know me from Adam and take my comments far too literally and seriously.   Blimey, do you seriously think i'd have taken time off work (and lost money doing so) travelled hundreds of miles (i live in the midlands)  and got back home in the early from midweek games if i didn't enjoy it? Good or bad times,  it's nearly always been  a very enjoyable, fun part of my life. But, almost everything about Chelsea was pretty sh*te in the 80's, on and off the pitch. But even so, i still had many great, fun days and some weekends in London back then.  Away days even better!

That's why i metioned Rougie. I remember him at a night way game at Brum. The ball came to him and there wasn't a Brum player within 20 yards of him, so he had all the time in the world to control it and do something with it. Doug stood on the ball and ended up on his arse while a Brum player picked up the ball and scored. f**king hilarious!

For me it's always about showing progress. Watching us play like crap with a bunch of old guys in the lineup mid season was insanity. The 30+ crew was never going to improve.

Watching RLC, CHO and Emerson finally get a chance and breathe life into the team was wonderful. Those injuries were so cruel.

I don't care about league position as much as I care about playing with passion and seeing improvement.. Not season over season, but from the players in the squad.

Get a full season of James, Tammy, Mount, Abraham, Pulisic and CHO getting quality minutes and showing progress, I'll be happy.. League position be damned.

Experienced, talented youth with a large warchest to fortify next summer and I consider this exciting times.

I like the idea of moaning less. I hate when I moan and all you too. However I can tell you a little secret: wanting things to be like they were is only saying you wish you were young again. That is all it means. We all wish we were.

I try to see the positive in the coming season. Emerging youth, Frank and Petr. The bar needs to be set a bit lower which in bigger picture is bad.

I think there's been a few folk calling out for a season like this ever since the huge spending of Roman quietened down. JCL fans, griping at the manager, griping at the board for lack of activity, etc. that should all be gone this season.  Just a legend of a player in as manager, and a great chance for some of the young lads to break into the team.  Plus we still get to see Pulisic as if he's a brand new signing.

Bring it on, I say.  I think any silverware is a huge bonus this year.  Getting to see some of the young lads playing in the CL also a huge bonus.  Finally, if we can make CL again at the end of the season, I think that'd be fantastic.  May even separate come of the JCL's from the ranks

question, how many Chelsea fans are influenced by stuff like this?

for me it makes me want to rebel & support Chelsea even more. Sorta like what happened on May 29th when everyone told me that Chelsea would get spanked by le arse. Now look who are in a worse situation than before? Sure isn't Chelsea & IMHO Chelsea will make more money with the transfer ban in place than before & have a very good chance of buying a Top Notch player next summer. I will continue my routine of getting up at zero dark thiry & trying to find a way to watch a Chelsea match. Compared to 10 years ago, Chelsea is always on TV here in The States & win or lose I enjoy watching The Blues play.  I like it more than watching silly news commentators bitch about nothing in particular. Chelsea provide me with good entertainment & the club makes my world smaller as I interact with fans around the globe.

I've been one of those hoping for a season where we genuinely give the youth a shot. Hopefully that is this season (even though the two best ones are injured!)

Dont think the JCLs will be going anywhere though. They'll still be here when we lose a few in a row which we will at some stage. I'm honestly not sure that we will finish in the top 4 but it should be a fuj ride anyway.

Top 4 is an absolute stretch, mate.  But I'd love to see us do it.  I don't think we will, as the top 2 are solidified and Arsenal and Spurs have better squad/managerial situation than us right now.  But, they're also perennial bottlers, so just maybe!  Who knows what Man U will do, but I think all 5 of them are better positioned than us right now

Me. I’m results oriented and reserve my right to moan. There were only a few games last season around when spuds spanked us where I was anti Sarri. Otherwise I really admired him, and conte before him. I hope we have a fun season but it’s a lot more fun in my view when you get in the top 4, make the knockout stage in the cl and get to a cup final. RLC has been injured a lot already, it was his back before his knee and I’m personally completely unconvinced that watching Tammy and to a Lester extent bats not delivering will be fun but I am still looking forward to at least the start of the season.

It might be a stretch. Depends who Arsenal and United sign. I could see OGS and Emery easily getting the sack this year.

Our big issue will be goals. Confident with a restored Kante we will be solid enough at the back.

That ESPN crew is right up there with the worst.  They all bash Chelsea any chance they get.  Nicol is clueless.  What it does for me, is make me want to defend Chelsea's honor since nobody else on the network will do it.  KTBFFH.

Don't think I've looked forward to a start of a season so much since we got promoted and the start of the 84/85 season. What ever happens it will be fun, roll on Reading away in a couple of weeks pre season when we can all decend on the Madjeski to welcome Frank, then Utd away and as for Leicester home the bridge will be rocking.

Saw the above piece.. some people really have no idea about what they are talking... i dont know how they manage to earn a living with that garbage ability to prepare and present an argument.

I'm absolutely buzzing for the season ahead.

As some of you will know, I always backed Sarri last year and thought he did a good job. My view was that Sarri would need 1 season to implement his tactics, then things would start bearing fruit in the 2nd season. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see that 2nd season, but that doesn't matter now. Sarri is now in the past and it' s time to look to the future and support our current manager - Super Frankie Lampard!

I'm actually full of hope for the season ahead - I think we're going to surprise a lot of  people. Looking at our squad the only weakness I see is up-front, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of Bats, Tammy or Giroud really stepped up this season. Our defense has actually improved from last season with the introduction of Reece James and Zouma. Our midfield has also improved on last season with Mount now in the first team squad and Kovacic signed permanently. We've lost one of the greats in Eden Hazard, but we've brought in Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi has now broken into the first team, so I think we could even see an improvement on the wings over the next couple of seasons.

We have an extremely talented young squad and manager. Given a bit of time I and 1 or 2 new additions next summer I can see this squad contending on all fronts.

I think Lampard will benefit a lot from Sarri laying the groundwork. Their style's are more similar than people think.

Couldnt agree more mate, the potential is insane! Just a case of whether these youngsters can live up to the hype
