Chelsea v Ajax (CL) Tue 5th Nov 20:00 GMT

Rush decisions by young players, but this is what you get with energetic hungry but inexperienced  youth - no complaints there.

Also, can not complain about the ref - he could have easily bottled to show second yellow to both Ajax defenders.

Sorry, what? How were they lucky. They were clinical

The own goals had an element of luck in them, but the other 2 were well taken

Our head to head advantage over Ajax might prove decisive

Yep. It's so hard to call now. We win the next game, and we are through, we lose, and we need Ajax to lose one of their two games and for us to win our final game. A draw isn't good enough for us either, because Valencia's head to head is better than ours, so if we draw and Ajax win both of their games, we are out.

Basically, we have to target the win against Valencia.

Hats off to Ajax. They fully deserved that point and deserved more. By far the better team until the ref lost his head. No way was that two reds but given that they were given we should have won it and we weren't good enough to do so. We didn't have the experience to take advantage.

Blind had a yellow earlier as did Veltman. Blind's tackle was 100% yellow and it was a handball although many refs wouldn't have given it due to human nature. First peno was a clear peno as well. They scored 2 extremely lucky goals and two great goals.

Great game of football with 2 contrasting halves.

For me Tomori was not very good. Alonso was out of his depth. Tammy was unlucky with first minute own goal and he never recovered.

Otherwise our lads were okay to good. We scored 4 so we weren't all bad.
Blind was definitely a second yellow card. The second yellow for the hand ball was extremely harsh but by the same token our 5th goal was chalked off by the bullsh*t new handball stuff. Overall it’s probably a fair result all things considered, still frustrating as I feel we could have won it at the end. Too many big chances missed throughout the whole game but that Bats one at the end was very poor. Middle of the goals, free strike, just put it either side and it’s a goal.
Yes it was one red. Not two.

Ridiculous to give two reds for the same passage of play. Not to worry though, in three weeks when we get a borderline offside given against us people will claim the world is against us!

Disappointing at the end, but ultimately we were extremely lucky to get a point. Ajax were the better side, and gave us a bit of a lesson. We are so poor defensively, and from set pieces. We even looked vulnerable with a 2 man advantage and could easily have conceded. The penalty and double sending off was obviously the turning point. Very harsh penalty to my mind. Ridiculous, but that's the age we live in. We need to go to Valencia and get a result but it's still in our hands and for that we should be very grateful.

Alonso, atrocious, yet again. His days must be numbered. Kepa, very poor for me. James looked great when he came on and I think we'll be seeing a lot more of him. Break it all down and we should be extremely happy. No way did we deserve a point.

How come we started first in the group, drew with the team that were 2nd, and we are now 2nd and they are 1st ?

I believe (may be wrong) that if 3 teams are tied then they use GD and not head to head

When we concede set pieces it gives me so much anxiety, how many goals have we conceded now from set pieces? It has to be nearly half the goals we have conceded it's outrageous.

The ref almost had a perfect game, if it wasn't for his time keeping, it would have been. I don't know how he came up with 4 minutes, and to make it worse, he blew for full time before the 4 minutes were played.

How is Reece James only 19?! He’s built like a brickhouse! What a game!

He's a legend already lol!

Why is it riduculous? The ref gave us the advatage and the same rules apply during that. You never see that but it was well played. Very harsh for Ajax but they got it right.

Well i don't think the first was lucky. I think our sh*t defending can't really be classed as them beign lucky. The third, granted. Playing in off the post, in off his face is pretty lucky.

The clinical aspect is that Pulisic dribbles a useless pass to nobody 8 yards from their goal and teh next thing they are down our end and scoring from an unmarked player in the middle of the box.

If we draw against Valencia, a win against lille will be enough.

this might not be a popular view but I'm not that bothered about the CL this season. we're not likely to win it; we are likely to finish top 4 and qualify again for next season. tbh if we do drop into the Europa League I would fancy us to win that again - why not?

Think about the ones we've got away with. Brighton hit the bar from a corner, on Saturday Ben Foster nearly scored against us at a set piece. Ajax away, they hit the post from a corner. It goes on and on. It's getting beyond a joke.
