Kai Havertz

Having quality back up to Reece and Chilwell is important too.

A real bonus for TT is how well RLC has slipped effortlessly into defense, i reckon he could play there, and Saul wasn't totally garbage on the left

Someone else commented on this, but about two seconds before Havertz heads the ball into the net, You can see Mount raising his hands up in celebration for a goal that is still two seconds away from actually occurring, with there being no indication that Havertz will make a fairly difficult header on that nice cross and score a goal (it certainly was not a tap in type of goal). Is Mount priescent or what?

Neither of them are suitable to cover medium to long term for Chilwell or Reece, neither are Alonso and Dave.

The step down in offensive play is like going from Drogba to Lukaku...

Havertz is actually really good in the air..so he probably knew the outcome

Havertz's history shows he is much more efficient in the second half of the season. It seems to go like that this season as well. In Leverkusen he always made most of his goals in the spring time.

Anyway I like how Kai is telling Rom to step up if he wants to play.

You could say he blossoms in the spring…

He's starting to settle in very well now it seems!! We look so much better without Lukaku...

Seeing now the Manchester derby, both play without a classical striker and we also look the best with Kai being the false 9 too. Lukaku will find it very hard to start games from now on I think.

Agree Kai should start more often though unwise to freeze out Lukaku as one is a balance sheet asset and two Kai might get injured.

If Lukaku has anything about himself he will be working on his fitness (to adapt to our style) and return chomping at the bit to prove a point, whenever that is.

Unfortuently history suggests that won't be happening, I just hope he's not going to get rewarded with a run of starts again once he does the basics for a couple of weeks.

This is true, but I genuinely believe had we stuck with him from the start of the season, the Havertz we are seeing now would have come much earlier. He actually started the season really well, then he was dropped to try and get something out of Lukaku and then he picked up an injury. We should have just stuck with him instead of trying to justify wasting all of that money on Lukaku.

50.6 touches a game since he's been put in his best position. And to think, a few weeks ago some were genuinely making excuses and blaming the players behind the forward (including Kai himself) for Lukaku struggling and sometimes failing to hit double figure touches in a game.

B-but Argo, a striker's job is just to hang around in the penalty box and wait for the ball to feet! 50 touches is 42 touch too many I'm afraid

I also noticed a few times in these 5 games Kai could have been played in but wasn't (another one of the ridiculous excuses created for Lukaku struggling with the basics) yet he kept his head up, still impacted the game and made sure he was ready when he got that crucial pass or chance.

That is unfair Argo...I cant sit here and let you throw around this nonsense any longer. Kai and Lukaku are very similar. The only differences I see are:

1) Kai gives a sh*t

2) Kai moves

3) Kai doesn't complain when the ball wasn't inch perfect for him.

4) Kai has a killer first touch.

5) Kai can pass the ball

6) Kai can dribble

7) Kai brings others into play, and doesn't make it all about him.

8. Kai scores big goals in big games

9) Kai doesnt run his mouth in the media

As I say, apart from those 9 small things, they are very similar players......
