We are sorely lacking someone with a real drive to score at all costs.

Hmm. I have watched city last 3 games to see how good Haaland truly is and he is exactly what you want.

But I can see  coming to Chelsea and turn into Norwegian Giroud.

Forget the stats. The eyes do not lie.

No power in his shots or passes. Loses the ball which we get countered heavily from. He will not become a KDB or Salah mark my words.

Outside 5 yard box his finishing is trash

There are a lot criticism on Kai. Like last year, somebody need to be blamed for our offensive woes. Timo and Rom are gone, Sterling is new, Mount is doing more midfielder stuff so he will get more pass so what we have left is kai.

But it is the same thing as last year.

Kai in the middle = good

Kai out wide = trash

Our attackers can't all be bad players, Kai included.  The glimpses suggest there is more there, but like any Chelsea forward in a TT system, they are starved on any real service and struggle to self-create.

I'd love to see him play off Broja, flanked by Sterling and whichever defender TT wants to play right wing.

Even De Bruyne needed the team to be built around him, Kai even after scoring the winning goal of the CL was put aside for Lukaku to play in the middle!

We had a 90 m st and not once Tuchel played Kai behind rom. What is the chances Tuchel will do it for Borja and kain?

The Lion doing his thing again. Strutting around, generally doing absolute f**k all.

Feel embarrassed comparing him to a Lion strolling the Savannah’s as the poor lad could hit water if he fell out of a boat, but it’s the most accurate comparison of this useless dosser

Summed up at the moment with that awful touch when he could have gone clean through when Amartey made a right mess up.

Him and Mount just not at the races right now

Thought he was absolutely fantastic today. Holding off defenders, bringing the ball down, winning headers and helping us move up the pitch while being a man down.

He also makes a lot of fantastic runs, but we often struggle to find the pass to him. He would have been through on goal today had Sterling’s ball been better.

Symptomatic of our general malaise in attack imo. Not really sure what his role is. It's all a bit of a mess.

Still only young so I hope he will come good.

Reading some posts on here I will say one thing to a few members, raise your standards.

sh*thousing and running your arse off shouldn’t be what 70m gives you. We witnessed Drogba, Zola, and Hazard. Demand more. I have no confidence when Havertz has the ball and it genuinely worries me he’s been here 2 seasons and still hasn’t improved.

Agreed. We didn't buy Havertz to hold up the ball when our backs are against the walls and to fight with the opposition. We bought him because we thought we were getting a football genius, but most of his time here we have been trying to work out what his best position is. Sometimes we forget he is even on the pitch because he is that ineffective. He has had one good game in 4 so far, that was against Tottenham where everybody looked good, apart from that, I think he has been terrible.

Well it was a mistake to not build the team around him, you don't sign a player like that in order to just put him to fill in the gaps. 4-2-3-1 there in the middle as the AM and he'll shine but that has happen only a handful of times, even so he did a decent job as a false 9 since it's the closest position to the AM since he goes deep and makes everyone better. But even like that, Tuchel suddenly signed Lukaku so if there ever was a case of mismanagment of a player this is the one.

Has he really shown anything to suggest we should build around him? Top class players impose themselves on a game no matter the position they play. So far Kai has been very underwhelming, he appears  to be playing within his capabilities only having the fire in his belly occasionally.

It's like if we had bought Hazard and then put him to play somewhere else and not on the left hand side of the pitch as the inside foward but for example in the midfield with Lampard, top players do need some management too.

Not to mention Kai was only 21 when he came, instead of making it easier for him to shine and to adapt to the league fast, he was being played all over the pitch from a classic winger to a CM left and right... I imagine if we had bought Kaka that he wouldn't shine either if he was put to play as a winger, a player like that needs the space and needs to be given the trust, Kai is a top talents which is why Lampard and Tuchel could use him almost anywhere anyway but his overall game did suffer because of it.

The same thing has happened now with Gallagher, 8 PL goals last season as the more offensive central midfielder for Palace, now he had terrible matches as a deep playing midfielder in our pivot. Players do need management, there is a reason why we wanted Kai Havertz to begin with, he was one of the most talented young players out there.

He has stated himself on arrival to Chelsea he does play in a variety of positions. At Leverkusen he originally played wide right but played upfront out of necessity. Until he actually ties down a position he is most suited to, you don’t build around him. He isn’t unique, at a young age many young players find themselves in this position. My guess is he will end up at Bayern as replacement for Muller.
