He has got 2yrs left on a £170k/w contract which has largely been underwhelming. Options are either to renew the contract, & I reckon he will be demanding £200k/w or sell. Now ask yourself is he a £200k/w player? For all the talent and experience, he has never scored 10 PL goals in his 3 seasons here. Even this season where he is starting regularly, he has 5 PL goals in 17 starts. Nketiah by comparison has 4 PL goals in 5 starts.

Long term if the club is serious about challenging at the top he won’t be a starter. There are options in the market who will do a better job at a fraction of his wages; Toney for example.

Everything you stated is correct and still our only option should be to extend unless he refuses an extension. For FFP his cost would be low with the extension. He's also never played in a fully functional Chelsea team. That said, I've always much preferred Felix as a second striker, and I really hope we sign him to a permanent deal - but Havertz is the type of talent who could really explode as he approaches his peak. Also, if you think Toney would transfer to any of the big 6 at a 'fraction' of Havertz' wage then...

You simply don't throw away a 23 year old talent who, even with his obvious inconsistencies, has had more good moments in big games than our twice player of the season - for 35m!

I'd go as far as saying from August - November 2021 we were a well run side, but with an unsustainable attack. We looked better as a team with Havertz as the false 9, but he along with the other front two were incredibly inconsistent in front of goal.

Potter rates him apparently so we just have to wait and see what happens in the summer. Nkunku + Felix imo looks more promissing than Havertz + Felix or Nkunku.

Yes that was a good little run until injury crisis part one. Still wasn't a well balanced side though - Tuchel had us playing the way we did because of how little we created. Once we sort out the midfield it could elevate quite a few players who have underperformed for a while. Any manager would rate him because he works hard and it's clear to see his technical qualities. Felix will work because he's a slightly different profile, more aggressive and demands the ball. Havertz needs creativity behind him. I think some consistent time with Mudryk, Felix, and Madueke/Sterling behind him may unlock some more of his potential.

Havertz is going to be our own Pogba isn't he

This team (And maybe league) just isn't for him. Don't know why people keep clinging onto the idea that he will come good. Its been three years and still nothing. The sooner we cash out on him the better or else we risk struggling to offload him and he just becomes another one of our long list of loanees.

This could be a make or break period for Havertz. With all of these players around him, he must take advantage of it and start performing consistently. If he doesn't, then I think selling him will be a serious consideration by the end of the season.

Failed the first test already. Chances created for him and he wastes them all because he thinks every finish has to be a bit of magic. Do it when we are 2 or 3 up Havertz, not when we are trying to win a game of football.

Increasingly frustrating to watch him play.  Just not clinical and should not be playing up top.  We looked better when Fofana was on as a focal point.

Also, I absolutely can not stand the stupid free kicks he gives away.

This is kind of my worry with our current signings. This guy was hyped up and expensive, and he's been dogsh*t. There's no guarantee we haven't got ourselves another handful of Havertz's on 7 year deals.

Spending all that money on the team, on several creators but leaving Havertz up top is like carving an arrow out of the finest oak and decorating it in the brightest feathers and gemstones...one to put a lump of coal on the end of it and expect it to do its job....

The last line of excuses this bloke was getting was that he needed better players around him.

Starting to sound funny now isn't it?

I won't right him complete off, but if he is played as the main forward he is terrible. Like 1 out of 20 it feels like he could score with his feet.

Boy do we see how much Timo helped him now

Where would you play him now though? Played the last 15mins behind Fofana & was even worse.

I would not play him.

If I had to play him it would be off Fofana but with Mudryk Enzo and Madueke alongside him.

I went apoplectic when he lazily tripped someone in the 89th-ish minute and they then feigned cramp and had a ball to lump into the box.

The difference being the previous regime rolled dice before signing him. We had the best assembled recruitment team in Europe choose the targets this window. He more than anyone of our attackers needs a league that affords him time and space to thrive.
