Said the same to my mate when it broke, but looks very official now, and it would be a pretty awful gane to play with their fans. Still wouldnt be surprised if either the league changed its stance, or Messi takes an even lower wage to stay. Seems bizarre he goes after they signed his best mate.
August 5, 20214 yr Obviously im taking messi if at all possible. Still a world class player, and it would be special taking my lad to see him at the bridge. Wonder how long this dream will last before it crashes and burns!

August 5, 20214 yr Brentford are excited to announce their new signing.... 😉 Seriously though shows what a big hole Barca must be in financially if they cannot even keep him on 50% wage.

August 5, 20214 yr Maybe a bit extreme but I’ve just chained myself naked to the lamp post outside and I’m not going to eat or sleep until we sign Messi.
August 5, 20214 yr We are in danger of hindering the development of CHO and Anjorin now, how can we cope with this once Messi gets to play the RWB?!
August 5, 20214 yr A switch to a back 4 to accommodate Messi and Lukaku? James---Christensen----Silva----Chilwell Kante----Jorgi ----Havertz ---Messi---Lukaku----Werner Proper football manager stuff lol

Obviously he would be in the starting 11. Messi would have to start on bench I guess.
August 5, 20214 yr Why not, is he still asking for 500K a week? At least we don't have to deal with Barca.
August 5, 20214 yr Buying Lukaku would cost us over £100m, then when you include his wages it takes it up even higher.............tell me again why we can't afford Messi? Just throw all of that Lukaku money at Messi. Even if Messi was on £500k a week, it woud still only be £26m a year. We would be mad not to do everything we can to sign him, even if he is 34. If he keeps himself fit, he can go on for a long time yet. Players are extending their careers at the top level into their late 30's more and more these days, so I don't see why possibly the greatest of all time can't do the same. There is still a chance this is all bullsh*t and he stays at Barcelona, but the season is pretty much under way now. Now isn't the time to start f**king about.
August 5, 20214 yr It is written in the stars, Tuchel said he would like to sign a target man, but for a reasonable fee, Lukaku is too expensive and was just a smoke screen, what other fee is a reasonable one if not a free transfer?! Done deal this one, imagine the interchanging between Messi, Bakayoko and Zappacosta away at Plymouth in the Carabao Cup. The league just isn't ready for this!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
August 5, 20214 yr https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11833/12373889/lionel-messi-to-leave-barcelona-after-club-fail-to-fulfil-new-contract-agreement Dont do it Messi, a legendary player deserves a better next stop than that sh*t shower of a club. Edited August 5, 20214 yr by axman2526
August 5, 20214 yr Be mad not to have a go at Messi, especially considering there are only a few clubs could afford him, and City probably ruled themselves out after yesterday. Think if Messi has anything else to prove, it's winning in another major league, and French league isn't one ( and somehow PSG failed to win it last season). Imagine Messi playing second fiddle to Neymar at PSG, come on 🤑
August 6, 20214 yr PSG are so annoying signing all of these superstars. They are wasted in french league, there’s no competition. Money obviously the biggest reason behind joining them, I really don’t see the attraction of ligue 1.
August 6, 20214 yr I think it would be completely nuts to sign Messi. Can't afford him or his ego and he's 34. And I suspect there is somewhere between zero and buckley's chance of it happening.

Just put that money towards Messi's wages instead. Say we offered him 3 years on £500k, that is £78m, cheaper than what Lukaku would cost.

Really if you have a chance to sign a once in a lifetime player, even at 34 years old, you try. If he turns us down, he turns us down. Better than not trying.

August 6, 20214 yr Sign Messi on a one year deal using the Lukaku money and use the change for Haaland next year. Simples.
August 6, 20214 yr Def will go to City or PSG. 2 teams that don't care about FFP. And the fact that they signed grealish doesn't change a thing according to me. They lost Aguero (who can't wait to play with him at Barca *grin*) and need a replacement for him. Messi would be the perfect replacement. Pep prob would give his left testicle for Messi and Messi loves the Pep play style. Plus I don't rate Brazilian Jesus that high. And PSG... pfff with all those new player... what a scary team...
