Zouma was good tonight bar that one error. Our best defender.

You’re joking right? He was f**king sh*te

frank needs to come clean on the rudiger situation. First choice for Germany can’t get in the squad over f**king Christensen and zouma?

Not sure why Pulisic was on the Right so much.

Frank puts him there, so Mount can get on the field.

Pulisic was much livelier on the left after Mount departed the game.

He was just as sh*te for Germany in their last game though! Who has the worst centre backs - Us or Man Utd?!!

Well we clearly can't count on him 'cos he f**ked up today and it happens all far too often.

Thankfully we have Mendy to replace Kepa and I don't expect to see Kepa ever play for us again. But if you think Christensen is the problem and playing Zouma every week means everything will be just dandy you are going to be VERY disappointed!

I will pick Zouma every day of the week over christensen. No one can deny that Zouma made a mistake but Christensen has definitely made more howlers than Zouma and in all honesty hasnt  proven himself to be a Premier league Defender. It is obvious that Zouma made a mistake but if you watch the goal again you will see that Christensen was just jogging back until he figured that Zouma had f**ked up then he started running back . It was the same ball from the jorginho goal that Romeu played in behind Zouma. If Christensen was alert he would have run back and covered for Zouma just incase he makes a mistake which is what any experienced Defender would have done. It is obvious we need Silva but in all honesty i hope this is the last season we see that Shemale Christensen and that errartic Rudiger in a blue Jersey

Seems like people love blaming Kepa and others more than Lampard

Kepa's saves are ones top class GKs make anyway but he concedes goals like a 10yr old just beginning to understand the position. Utterly ridiculous

I'd love to know, using the head, not the heart, how many honestly believe that Frank is the man to turn this around?

I know what you mean, but sometimes we play football better than anyone else . But daft mistakes aside, which Frank can't be blamed for, and only 5 games in,no need for panic.

come on Chelsea !

Fair enough - your choice. But every day of the week he is likely to make a mistake.

As I said, I like Zouma but he is not a great defender and is far too clumsy and cumbersome. The truth is NONE of our centre backs give you confidence. We signed 36 year old Silva for a reason and I expect we will be looking to sign more centre backs in January or next summer to replace the ones we have who clearly aren't good enough. Until then, I'm hoping Tomori can partner Silva and resemble something of a decent pairing.

Watched the second goal back, no idea what Kepa is doing making a sliding challenge like a defender, supposed to be a f**king goalkeeper, dive with your hands and get two hands on the ball haha. I just couldn’t help but laugh a bit when they were looking for a winner, it’s got to that point with our defence I’m afraid.

Which ever defender or keeper you choose to blame is missing the point that they are all not very good. One or two might be ok if part of a an otherwise high quality defence, but there is simply no combination of the players available that can form a decent defence.

I have serious concerns about Frank’s ability as a coach, but organising our options into a solid defence must be like trying to herd cats.

The other angle where Frank cannot escape without questioning is given how terrible we were at the back last year he seemed to play his part in spending 95% of our summer investment on forwards.

And finally, I often feel as if he uses some sort of tombola for his team selection. Screw this resting players bollocks, just bed in an eleven and get it gelled. Then he can start the tweaks. No matter what way you see this, it’s not at all good and there’s no real positives to take so far this season. Even the attacking players have been left looking generally average and inconsistent.

Rudiger looked worse than Harry Maguire over the break.  I have confidence in a Zooma-Silva pairing in front of Mendy going forward, but we'll still need lots of goals

Whenever you see Kepa in the lineup with Christensen at the back, you know we’re conceding two or three goals, it’s just basically a given. Zouma for me is an adequate squad player that his moments, but not a starter, so we need another CB in January really. Anyway, two hard games coming up and if we don’t win either I mean....will trigger fingers start getting itchy? Maybe too soon.

So glad I was on the road and didn't have to watch this. Anyone who thought the Crystal Palace game was nothing other than plaster over clear cracks will realise it's now. I still can't believe we still haven't fix our defence coaching.

We had last season's backline with Kepa. What can you expect. Didn't see the game but our new German boys did the goals and our well known weak spots were just that. What I learned from it we can't field our weak players against good sides. Soton is a good side.

Zouma's worst performance in a while but I think a few of you are far too quick to write him off. I'm yet to fully assess Thiago but after him, Zouma ie easily our best centre back.

That's the killer. We have to get top 4 after the investment. We won't get it if this continues.

Guaranteed both Arsenal and Spurs will finish above us this season unless Frank gets his sh*t together......just as well bring in Alladyce or Pulis to work with the defence

As true as this undoubtedly is this is a stunning indictment of the quality or lack of in our side. Both players have only played a couple of games each and already we miss them significantly when they are out.

Absolutely correct - I said the other day how mad it is that we put all of our hopes on a new keeper who has played exactly 2 games for us, but such is our desperation in the alternatives, likewise with Silva and he had a mare v WBA !!

It’s fuc’ing depressing reading all the comments on here and although I didn’t see the game, I’m sure that the criticism levelled across the board is accurate-ish, but the truth is that - the newbies apart, that jury has yet to come in, the rest of the team are ....... ordinary really ?

On his day Kante might get into the Liverpool or City side, but the rest..... I doubt it - how much of that is the coaching staff and how much is the talent of the players , guess it’s some of both, but I personally don’t see the quality needed to be anything better to be top 4 contenders and that’s not a gimme by any stretch of the imagination .

FL has got his excuses in early by saying that, like Klopp, he sees this as a 4 year project before a PL title is achievable, so sit back, buckle ya belt and enjoy the mofo roller coaster of a ride and I guarantee there will be tears along the way ??

Who do the " Frank's not up to it " brigade fancy as a manager then ?.....After 5 games ?

Get Boris Johnson in! He is a likeable amusing clueless buffoon and his post-match presser will be a right laugh. Nothing else will change, but at least this will lighten up the mood a little bit.

Rudiger has been horrific when playing for Germany so I don't get how this makes any sense?

I don't think anyone is in the Frank's not up to it brigade after 5 games though. There remains no pattern or style of play and we are over a full season in now. We are incapable of defending and we have not improved since the 4-0 shoe-ing Man Utd gave us in his first game.

We are all massive Frank fans and are desperate for him to succeed. But it seems to be becoming more and more of a reality that both Frank and Jody do not seem to be equipped with the tools to set teams up and compete at both ends of the pitch.

Yes individual errors have to be down to the players but surely a better structure, shape and defined roles allow others to clear individual errors when they occur.  I agree that the players are the ones on the pitch but many are Starting to feel that we cannot keep spending hundreds of millions of pounds on top quality international players that are then rubbish when playing for us. It cannot all be down to the players all the time, surely.
