I’m watching the Community Shield - Vermin & City are miles ahead of us already it seems. I agree TT needs to do more, imo if RA didn’t go he’d be gone for losing the 2 Wembley finals (3 in all). His tactics produce only the occasional moment of exciting attacking football mostly sideways and backwards no synergy or energy. I’m really hoping he can somehow replicate the form at the time of that brilliant win over a Juve last season. After all it’s the same players he’s working with …….

And that's it in a nutshell , we need a million passes to get up the pitch then pass from one side of the pitch to the other in front of their defence. At Wembley that lot moved the ball up the pitch in a heartbeat , as you say we can do it but the insistence on endless ball retention with no end product is frustrating considering the talent in our team

Ok?

I think that's pretty amazing tbh. Lots of money though of course.

I understand that you rate this transfer window as amazing.
But for me "Amazing" would mean that we can challenge City and Liverpool for the title. And I cannot see this happen after these clubs have Haaland or Darwin Nunez as new strikers while we have now Broja back.
Maybe I change my rating of the transfer window to "GOOD". 😉

I mean that's up to you - I personally don't think that an "amazing" transfer window necessarily means we have to challenge for the title. Let's be real here: Pool & City operate from a completely different level and both had - let's say interesting - transfer windows themselves. They are well oiled machines, we on the other hand had to deal with a ton of issues on top of not being a very well oiled machine to being with. I don't have to tell you which ones since we all know this. So put into that context I am pretty happy with the window so far - it could have been so much worse.

Koulibaly / Sterling / Cucurella / Chuku ( I personally would add Azpi staying as well) ... and that's not even finished business.

Let's say this squad right now should be able to improve our points tally by 8 points - we have better depth, less games and improved our squad level by quite some margin. Pool and City meanwhile cannot sustain their crazy winning sprees and drop off by about 5 points - that's not totally impossible. Then we came almost into title challenging distance. Pretty theoretically of course but you get my idea.

We're only a CB away from being stacked everywhere.

We need a better goalscorer for sure but the striker's market is so barren these days.

I think the replacement RWB plan can be revisited in January.

Still think we need another forward.  We obviously targeted Raphina and saw Dembele as a backup and didn't get either but it's gone quiet on that front.

Mount isn't a natural winger but we have to play him there because of the system and because Pulisic and Ziyech aren't premier league quality.

A pacey winger with some trickery is still a glaring necessity for the current squad.

Zaha being on the last year of his contract makes him someone we should be all over imo.

Too early to judge but if you take the fees out of the equation the window has been really good so far. Though I don't personally rate Sterling.

I wholeheartedly disagree, he really is a class player, and his goals for is pretty bloody good

Will see this season. City stats are kinda misleading, he will have to really work for it with us.

I think you are in a minority of opinion, his 110 PL goals says he is better than most, and i'll have a whole English pound you are swayed, i'm watching ya...

Hopefully for TT sake you are right. Cause if the owners give him Fofana and De Jong for a combined 160millish on top of what they spent already I don't think they will be looking for a 4th place finish, I think they may want the title and to do so a season earlier than Roman did it.

I think it depend what is your expectation from sterling. If you expect him to produce 18-10 then you will be disappointed. But 12-5 is reasonable.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Tuchel has privately told Todd this summer we need elite recruits, i.e he only wants world class players brought in or players with very high ceilings. He has privately told Todd the squad is currently filled with too many average players and lacks enough world class players to truly bridge the gap to Liverpool and City.

I think a fair assessment from Thomas tbf and I'm glad Todd has then backed him. The Arsenal game would have been an eye opening experience for Boehly and probably the reality check we needed to ensure we properly strengthen.

Not exactly a huge scoop LOL.

40,000+ Chelsea fans would have been telling Boehly exactly the same thing if they'd had the chance 🙂

transferlist by now:

  • Sterling
  • Koulibaly
  • Cucurella
  • Chukwuemeka

I think there is still a CB and a striker missing but until now I think the transfer window is OK.

If we sign a central midfielder it will be a great transfer window for us. With that said, not too long ago we signed a couple of players that on paper all looked simply amazing additions but out of all of them T.Silva as a free signing was the best of them.

Someone should tell Todd to look out for a free signing!

I would have agreed 100% if you didn't bring up Zaha. That ship has sailed, he can't hack it at the very top level
