Appalled by Souness. First he started bashing Werner which hes entitled to. Then we went on a rant about how he made no effort to avoid their keeper which was bizarre, and then brought out the thesaurus to call him every single word for cheat their is. I really dont get how him knocking it past the keeper and a split second later going into him, how is that possible, and more importantly why should he. But the whole biased sky team headed by souness didnt say a single word about salahs dive today. Not one mention by the commentary team and next to nothing after the game, luckily there is a thing called twitter because every comment was about salahs dive and also how sky tried to cover it up. Werner does need to score, and maybe if he did more maybe frank would of stayed, however that dodgy p**** aint labelling us cheaters when liverpool are the biggest cheats going.

These pundits get to unfairly slag off our players every opportunity they get while they protect their own teams. Why is that dinosaur still commentating on games anyway?

I agree that Werner needs to start scoring, 2 assists here is a good sign but he has spent over 950 minutes without scoring in the PL now. Tammy has more goals than him.

A tough, physically demanding game, just as expected. We were too sloppy at times so it wasn't a comfortable win by any means, but the most important thing is that 3 points are in the bag and the streak continues.

MOTM performance by Mount. Again worked harder than anyone else and scored a beautiful goal.

Can't believe people are criticising Christensen. To be fair we're seeing certain improvement from him recently. He hasn't made a single mistake tonight and therefore deserves all praise. Probably that game vs Barcelona was a black mark against him and it is still fresh in memory.

James, Christensen, Tomori, Guehi, Mount, Gilmour, Gallagher, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham, Anjorin .... that's 11 players that only cost us $500K, which was all Billy's fee !

We'd cope ..

True. But those players are products of our expensive world class academy.

Our spending power enables us to be more successful than at any time in our history.

I'm fine with that, we all should be

Totally agree, but the way he just launched into him for 5 minutes, keane and micah richards luckily went against everything he said. The fact he actually said it was werners fault for allowing their keeper to take him out, and that he should of done the matrix and swerved him really made me laugh. The anti chelsea bias by a lot of referees is bad enough, but not having enough representation in the media means a lot of it gets swept under the rug.

I know what you mean, albeit most of that list are not the kids that have been expensively scouted in Europe and South America. A high percentage are local lads and have been with us since Chelsea under 9s !

Who cares what washed up pundits say ?

enjoy the win people , don't look for reasons to upset your day.

come on you Blues !

Not upset by any means, but these broadcasters provide a lot of revenue for the EPL. And the lack of coverage we as a club have been getting for years when we've been one of the top teams in England is just ridiculous. We and City get minimal protection, but at least City have Micah Richards there now, who do we get there? Joe Cole occasionally who's biased for us but that's it really. Ruud supports us but he's usually very harsh with us.

You might not think it matters but it does. We got about 3 penalties in 2015 because of MOTD's coverage on our diving in one specific game, where they slaughtered all of our players. After that referees weren't giving us any penalties all season, that's why Jose was specifically talking about punditry bias, media bias and the campaign, he actually had a good point. United and Liverpool especially never get this treatment that we do.

Reading back the melt down for Rudiger on this thread is quite interesting

I think he has been pretty good the last two games. Apart from the howler of an OG of course he wasn’t far of my man of the match if it wasn’t for the og..... not sure anyone really stood out in that respect. Maybe Mount for the goal CHO looked lively when he came on and Werner had his best game for a while

But he said absolutely nothing about Salah going down like this? Even though Werner was at full speed and the keeper clearly knocked him down. How the f**k is it Werners fault if his knee goes in the keepers face? That's how he's dived in, what a clown.

Souness is a bellend Salah and Mane fall over at the slightest touch like they have been shot

And he blamed Werner for Lampard getting sacked ??? the guy is just silly all over

In hindsight it's easy to say we were being over the top. But just after you get a goal and he goes and does something like that early in the 2nd half... Especially with how little many of us on here rate Rudiger and don't really fancy him in the side.

Mistakes like that is something Rudiger was doing all last season, some of the most shambolic defending I've seen at this club since David Luiz under AVB, he was f**king woeful. It didn't surprise me one bit Frank kept him out of the side, then he finally gets his chance to start again and he goes and makes a crucial mistake like that. So yeah, at the time, it was reasonable for many of us on here to boot off. All our hard work undone because of him, once again. But to his credit, besides that mistake he was good defensively.

I think there is a clear difference from defending poorly and making this random mistake of an own goal. He wasn't scoring own goals last season...

He was decent recently before this own goal and even after, maybe he's not as bad as a pure defender as he is "just" an unstable player that loses concentration and that isn't focused enough at times and stuff like that...

Honestly, Souness is a c**t and always hated us, you will never hear him praise our team without some kind of backhanded insult.

I enjoy that though. Before the games I get to listen to his clueless comments on our players and club and afterwards I get to laugh at the rubbish he will come up with next to rationalize our victory.

All the talk of souness, Match of the day commentator was adamant it wasn’t a penalty either. I’m utterly bemused. Hope they both listened to chris wilder post match who said everyone on their bench thought it was a pen.
meanwhile Salah goes down over bugger all contact and another match of the day commentator says it was a blatant pen. Signs of inherent north west Bias?

in fairness Shearer said Chelsea decision was right in analysis afterwards

Watching Rudiger today was like this

To be fair after the own goal, he really stepped up - and so he should! That header away from the set piece late on saved a goal and he blocked a couple of shots.

He's so uncomfortable on the ball it's unbelievable he's a footballer at all. You can see it in the own goal, he had a chance to boot it first time facing up the pitch, but he didn't trust himself to make clean contact, he's not very good at timing his kicks right, so he had to take the only other option, to go backwards. If we are ever going to bridge the gap to city we need ball players at the back like Tiago, comfortable on the ball and not scared of it.

Agree, after the goal he was a different player, but before he was out of sorts...

Hardly random if he was heavily mistake prone last season is it...

It's incredible that anybody can think it wasn't a penalty.

They are moaning because Werner was playing for the penalty, but so what if he was? It's the keepers fault for charging out so recklessly. He didn't have to slide into Werner, he could have stood up to Werner and try and save the incoming shot. At least Werner waited to get clattered, unlike the likes of Salah, Kane, Mane, Grealish and Fernandes who always dangle a leg and force the contact to win a foul / penalty. This is actual cheating, and they always escape criticism.

Starting to get annoying and repetitive Managers mentioning our squad value every time we beat them.

Moyes use to do it all the time then went to a club with even more money than us and wound up below the ex club he pleaded poverty with.

A win but Sheffield forced the players to work extra hard.

The own goal was because the defenders got into the habit of passing it to the GK whenever they are under pressure.
