Glad we’re out, annoyed we were ever in. All sorts of calls for punishment now and these are somewhat pivoting me from my anger towards the club to a more defensive stance.

I’m just not having it that every other club in football is some noble institution run by local philanthropists for the good of local communities and orphans.

The Everton’s and Wolves of this world are all run by foreign businessmen and they’d have joined too given half a chance.

And if the loss of the big six was so disastrous to the Premier League, why would it now be good for the PL to banish the big six to the fourth division?

It reminds me of that delusional Iraqi general who was constantly reporting on wining battles and destroying planes and tanks, as the British and American tanks where rolling in in the background.

Real, Barcelona and probably Italian sides saw this a chance to bail out from awful financial situation. As City and us are not in that situation we saw the backlash and realized the ESL is not a good idea. American owned sides want to do this as they want that franchise model from American sports. 

Tottenham and Arsenal got invited to this and they still don't have their courage to ask wheter it was sent to them by a mistake.

Then again I can see it from the POV of the owner. We are in debt as a club, making top four is pretty much imperative. No CL money is pretty bad for us. From a selfish angle I don't really give a f**k about any other club but us, because I want us to succeed. It's fine and dandy to say no when we are doing well, but when we aren't making top four it's a totally different story and will have a big impact on us maintaining our strength as a top club. We are the only club in the top six who doesn't have a big stadium. We already owe Roman about one and a half billion quid as it is.

Withdraw from the Super League, bottle top 4 and end up in Europa lol.

You know what would be grand? A reaction to some of the other aggregious profit driven rubbish in the game on the back of this. 

Perhaps it's high time we remembered that football is about fans not "consumers" or "customers" but fans. Obscene ticket prices and other such things should be next on the agenda. But I suspect Boris and others were always about not losing the PL as an export and talk about fans and the soul of the game was always bullsh*t.

Also worst news in all this is Woodward resigning. Man Utd fans would be cheering. Imagine if they get someone who doesn't waste all their money on crap signings?

Carragher pretty much applauding every man and his dog yet no mention of the Chelsea fans and the role they played. 

BBC now reporting that all English clubs will withdraw.

The defeat of the Americanisation of football fills my heart with joy. I imagine the owners at Liverpool, Arsenal and United will now come under huge pressure to sell.

Surprised to see Carragher et al turn on Henry so quickly. They did after all deliver them their first PL win in 30 years.

- The European Super League is 5-0 down on aggregate and has leaked five away goals. Its captain is suspended for the second leg and it doesn't have a fit goalkeeper to field. (That's code for Manchester City are pulling out of the event and Chelsea will do likewise)

- Ed Woodward will leave his role at Manchester United. (This is true). Conor McGregor says he may buy the club. (See our 21:56 entry. We think he is joking).

- Other clubs in the proposed European Super League are now under huge pressure to exit. Liverpool's players have started posting social media posts stating they "don't want it to happen".

- The UK government have backed the move by Chelsea and Manchester City and pledged to follow through on a fan-led review into English football, adding: "We must make sure this never happens again."

- If all of the above wasn't enough, Chelsea fans protested outside their ground against the ESL move and got what they wanted within minutes. Placards, banners and bedsheets with protest slogans on them may never have been more efficient than they were tonight.

But will they get that £4b ? or will UEFA backtrack after the uprising against ESL. And even if the clubs do get the £4b, at what cost will that be ? what legislation will the UK government bring in to 'stop this happening again' ? and how will it affect any future negotiations when the threat of breakaway is taken away?
