Jules Kounde

Sevilla were supposedly asking for about 60m right? Barcelona were also supposedly interested, although they are probably held back until they sort out the mess with De Jong.

De Jong isn't going anywhere i believe

the only way you will get him to united is if you chloroform him and restrain him and drop him off against his will

i really hope he f**ks barcelona and refuses to leave

i read they are forcing him by threatening him that he has to train alone and that he cannot go on tour

SHAMEFUL really

disgraceful club

Kounde, along with Sterling and Koulibaly would an excellent window signing top class players. We want to sign first teamers, not squad players.

Agreed. Perhaps some creativity in midfield would be nice, but Connor adds something new there.

As much as I love Roman can’t help but feel this window would have been all about Ronaldo.

But if we sign Kounde and Kimpembe to go with Koulibaly, Kenedy Kante, and Kovacic, can we also sign Krul, Kamara, Konate Kazim-Richards, and get Kalou back...wait, maybe not the Kalou bit.

Is Kingkladze still about

Kevin Keegan as manager.

You just know Marina would have paid 60m for Ake. The same for Koulibaly.  Probably more than that for Sterling and our transfer business would be over.

They were both in the last year of their contracts but I genuinely can't remember the last time we signed such quality for fees that looked this good.

Sterling and Koulibaly for less than Harry Maguire is no joke.

Now if we could just get Kounde for a lower price to complete the hatrick our defence would look in much better shape.

Anybody seen this fella play RB? Just saw he did play that from time to time and we desparately need a James back-up that is at least decent. Wasn't fan of Azpi doing that depsite being kind of solid there. Even more extreme is the Chilwell backup since we don't even know if he's able to get back to where he left off.

As it stands nothing has really changed, Sevilla are rumoured to want around €60m. We have verbally offered around there and we are still waiting. The source says that Barca are leading the race as of the 14th, since he made it known his love for Barca we cooled our interest a bit. I mentioned prior that we withdrew a previous verbal offer of €70m from Marina and changed it to €60m under Todd.

If we act quickly he could be ours, I understand now that Ake won't be moving, we now have a focus on Kimpembe and Kounde. Now it's rumoured Tuchel wants at least 2-3 new cbs. I think it all comes down to Colwill, if he impresses in pre season we perhaps only move for one more cb and focus on getting rwb/rb cover for James.

Finding a player that could play rwb and potentially rb becomes a priority since there is rumours Azpilicueta will be gone as soon as we find a replacement.

Anyway Kounde still remains a high possibility of coming here, yet I fear we could have a similar situation to Raphinia. Barca tried to get Koulibaly to wait, but he chose us since we were ready to sign him and Jorgi + Mendy factor. We've made Kounde wait all this time he could choose to make us wait now, especially with Barcelona looking to snipe him.

Xavi has spoken to him and sold him the dream, I don't know what he's been saying to these players but as far as I know Koulibaly may have just become the first player to turn them down, which is funny since Xavi claims nobody has turned down his Barca since he took over.

Yet I feel Kounde is just as impatient as Koulibaly for a move, if we put the cash down he may just jump on a plane and ignore Barca's charm, that being said now that Barca actually do have some money again they could perhaps match any bid we make for him. Supposedly they're offering Depay + cash, I suspect this will be the saga of the summer for us.

And if we can throw in Pulisic as part of the deal even better

Exactly, a good team adds good players.  A great team adds top players, they add at the top which forces the others to step up.

My take on it, (with no special sauces ;), is the belief our top 2 CB options were Koulibaly and De Ligt, so we dropped any negotiations Marina had for Kounde.

Given Koulibaly has played for years as a LCB and is right footed I reckon TT sees him, and his experience, as able to operate on either side or the middle of a back 3, and thus had we been able to aquire De Ligt as well TT could have lined up with Koulibaly on the left, Silva in the middle and De Ligt on the right.

However as we have since found out De Ligt favours Bayern so we have moved on, had feelers around Ake and Kimpembe (which would see Koulibaly switch to middle or right center back).

Ake has been priced too high so we let that one go, and so far Kimpembes both reluctant to leave his home town club and his price is higher than we want, so we are testing the water with Kounde again to see how committed he is to Barca and if indeed Barca can afford him after shelling out on Raphinha.

Of course could have been a cunning plan by Todd to get Barca to go hard for Raph and Lewa so they could not afford Kounde lol.

IMO he's a great player and I have been excited that he has been our transfer target but it has been a pretty annoying saga. Barcelona are full of it and apparently Man City won't sell Aké. I'm sure that this transfer would have been much easier if Jules himself had some interest of coming here but as it looks from outside he's probably still considering his options.

Again, feels like one we were too slow to push for initially and will now lose out on to a rival club thanks to our dilly dallying.

Annoying to think back to pre-July when Barcelona had not yet pulled any "economic levers" and Kounde was seemingly desperate for us to finally wrap up his transfer as quickly as possible. A lack of strategic appreciation once more from Boehly for the wider market place within which he's operating.

De Ligt looks like he is going to Bayern Munich for a rumoured €90/100m. More than we were willing to pay. We could get both Kounde and Kimbepe for a little more than that. In fact the rumour is that a deal for Kounde is in the works…

He literally agreed personal terms with us last year.  Was begging to sign for us and missed games at Sevilla in anger because we left him stood up and didn't want to play for them after not getting his move to us.

He literally couldn't be more interested in signing for us, we were the only club interested but we left him standing like a spare man at a wedding.

Then he was desperate to sign for us at the start of this window but we sidelined him for Koulibaly (fair enough) and f**king Ake of all people

If he didn't want to sign for us now you really couldn't blame him.

We agreed a price like £40m I believe with Sevilla then they went back on it and upped it to £60m, I can't blame the club for not letting their pants get pulled down like that.

That isn't what happened.

We agreed a price with a deadline.  Which we then missed because Marina wanted to sell Zouma first and then spend weeks trying to get an extra £12.50 from West Ham.

Sevilla were clear from the beginning they wouldn't accept a lower price after the deadline because they wanted to bring in their replacement before the season started.

They stuck exactly to what they said all along and we weren't prepared to pay what they told us we'd have to if we didn't move early.

If it is going to happen it will quickly imo. After last year each party knows messing about gets us knowhere.

I personally believe he is Todd's primary transfer focus now. I reckon we will need to pay 65mill euros and I believe he has 2 years left on his deal and sevilla know at 1 year left his value plummets.

Sevilla are waiting for an official offer from Chelsea for Koundé, which will arrive in the coming days.

It will not reach the 65M € starting price.

Sevilla's asking price is the only obstacle here. Kounde wanted to join us last summer, he wants to this summer or Barca. Whoever agrees a deal with Sevilla first basically.

Barca have not turned Koundes head like Raphinha as it is not Koundes "dream" to play for Barca.

Barca want to use players like Dest to exchange for Kounde and drive the price down.

We tried that with Zouma last summer but he turned Sevilla down.

Guess we see if Todd can do what Marina could not and get Sevilla to compromise on a fee.
