He’s been great this season. Rarely let us down and come up with some good moments. Yes a couple of dodgy moments and Newcastle were robbed off a (soft and clumsy) penalty. He hasn’t let us down this season.

He definitely hasn't let us down, generally he's doing great. He just needs to really keep an eye on the big errors that are creeping in. Goal vs Liverpool, handball against Norwich, lucky against Newcastle. We just need him to learn from his mistakes. Still a very good debut season for us.

He's prone to errors, but I think the positives outweigh the negatives.

The fact that he's got as much game time as he has can only be great for his development. No one expected him to get this far in the off season last year.

On a trivial note that player Jacob Murphy played against us in the youth cup final for Norwich alongside his twin Josh (now at Preston).

I remember it because my first thought was they (aswell as that whole Norwich side) were total sh*thouses.

They were great the twins at Norwich, in that run. Especially Josh who was more advanced than his brother Jacob. But now Jacob is in the prem, Josh is in the Championship playing for a club on loan from another Championship club. Weird to look at the names to see who has made it and who has disappeared. In our team we had RLC, Christensen, Boga, Aina who are all playing at a very good level. Obviously the first two, still with us. Then had likes of Feruz, who I heard has given up football. Kiwomya, who has been really unlucky with injuries. Interesting.

Was Kiwomya the one that netted twice vs Liverpool?

If I recall correctly he was literally the stereotypical top class if he has to improvise quickly useless if he has time to think type of player.

Yes, correct. Was probably the fastest player on our books. Now finds himself at Macclesfield who are in the North West Counties Premier Division.

I do agree that Chalobah should have got more minutes but he did have a run of games where he got turned inside out a number of times and looked likely to give away a penalty when he went near opponents in our box. Would certainly start him ahead of Sarr but don't think I want to see either in the starting 11 for the Cup Final.

Aye I don't think we will. Will be poor old Dave roasted by Diaz and Mane instead...

Dave doesn't deserve to start imo

It's a tough call - just have to trust TT to make the right one.

On one hand Azpi has looked pretty shaky of late and I also recall the cup final v the gooners where he was given a torrid time. But he has been so reliable for us and will be desperate to win one last trophy as skipper that you hope he can put in a more Azpi type performance.

Chalobah is one for the future but I could see Mane and Diaz causing him major problems. Maybe neither of them will play?

First name on the team sheet for me.

When he starts, we don't lose !

And we won today, the streak continues 😉

TT talks about us needing to keep clean sheets. We have only had one in recent memory.

West Ham at home, whe ACs dicky tummy kicked up and Trev started.

Outside of Silva he is our best and fully committed CB right now imo.

Make that our only 2 recent clean sheets.

We've really gotten lucky with academy defenders, despite selling our two most promising ones this guy has come out of nowhere, done really well and will probably be a nailed on starter next season.

Will be interesting to see how Levi Colwill and Ampadu look next season if we give them a chance as well

I dunno, I love the guy but despite his (no lose) stats this season I feel he's a first backup level player.

That said I'll absolutely start him on Saturday, Azpi looks done.

I hate to play the "he's still young" card, but he's relatively new to the PL. Steep learning curve, and hardly any young player is consistently terrific. He'll improve (hopefully).

I personally think he is perfectly fine for a rcb.

I don't disagree to a point but at the same time I don't see the elite potential I see with Colwill or saw with Christensen at a similar age.

I remember i had many posters (on the forum i was on at the time) say the same when I said Lukaku will not break into the elite forward category.

I don't mean it as an insult, he's as good as can be wished for as the first back up (just as I'd have been more than happy to keep Rom as Diego's understudy) and that type of depth is just as crucial to successful teams as the star players, especially given the two we've got to overhaul to become champion again.

Put a decent performance against Liverpool.

It started very difficult in the first half, Diaz did a lot of actions on his side against Chalobah but he didn't beat him on 1v1 situation, only put balls through him.

In the second half, he has improved a lot. Despite one bad positioning and header he was solid in the back.

We've got a good defender in our hands and I believe Tuchel has to prepare him to the next season as starter. Formation with 3 in behind or two, his name should be there next to top class defender and have Thiago Silva as backup would be fantastic for his development.

Pretty similar performance against Liverpool earlier in the season. Started shaky, grew into the game.
