Need a big change up to get anything from this one. The thing the Leeds player know exactly what to do: RUN!. our players are just shell shocked and even if they were as much commited they wouldn't know where to run the extra 6km. I think Tuchel didn't expect pressing to that extent.

August 21, 20223 yr It was quite clear from early on that the midfield wasn't working particularly well. I would probably have wanted to move Loftus-Cheek inside and sub Gallagher off for Chalobah or Azpilicueta and go to a more orthodox back three (although Loftus-Cheek has been playing as a pretty standard wing-back in this game). Now we are two down this changes; we'll need to take risks and thus Gallagher is someone we definitely want on the pitch. I think we need to push James forward; if this means pulling Loftus-Cheek for Chalobah or Azpilicueta so be it. This unfortunately more or less locks us into a back three; going to a back four with Koulibaly on a yellow doesn't seem ideal. Our attacking substitute options don't exactly fill me with confidence - I wouldn't want to take off Mount or Sterling and there's no real alternative to Havertz available. I suppose narratively speaking Pulisic would be the one to go for... Edited August 21, 20223 yr by PloKoon13
August 21, 20223 yr Boehly will quickly realise how big of a task he has on his hands. This club has been left in a poor state, especially with regards to the squad. The squad is barely above average for the most part. Hiring and firing managers leaves us in this situation where Tuchel inherited a squad that isn't his whatsoever. Only a small handful of players in that squad are good enough to be there. We keep taking these embarrassing losses against smaller teams time and time again, every season. It is frustrating. We still need another 2 seasons before we challenge again. Not good enough.

Being in goal for Chelsea is not one of the most overworked goalkeeper jobs but we concede too high a percentage of goals from the actual chances we give away. I’m genuinely worried about him now. He’s becoming a liability. He has looked dodgy I would give Kepa ago again

Aboslutely shocking and now our heads have dropped and that is largely down to that Mendy f**k-up. Fair play to Leeds. They are showing plenty of fight and energy. Same can't be said for Havertz who appears to be having a day off. COME ON CHELSEA FFS!!! That's a normal day for Havertz

Amazing what difference it makes to take one player out of last week's line up ... Doesn't it just. Shows how completely mis-informed, (or simply plain wrong), people are that say we don't need Kante. Gallagher can't do the ball recovery and defensive work Kante does every match and I don't think I have ever seen Jorginho have a good game against Leeds.
August 21, 20223 yr Just now, AlwaysRight said: I didn't think we were that bad until the goal. Mendy is an absolute liability though, he consistently makes mistakes when in possession or being passed back to, so why do they pass back to him?! Or at least Tuchel tell the idiot to just kick it out! Also would be so nice to actually play with a proper CF, fed up of seeing Havertz up top scoring zero goals, barely any assists, not sure what people saw in him apart from 2 goals in 2 finals. Aubameyang for a year or two is better than nothing! I thought it was quite obvious that we were struggling before the goal. We were losing most battles, they were out running us, forcing us into mistakes, Koulibaly picked up an early yellow. We may have got in at them a few times, but we had zero control of the game, Leeds dominated.

He was running as well, I genuinely don't know how to didn't just strike the ball Yeah that was bad but he also set up Cucurella. I am not saying he was great just that further up field could hold onto the ball and pass to a mate. 🙃
August 21, 20223 yr Mendy, Havertz and relying on Kovacic and Kante to stay fit is what will land us outside the top 4 this season.

Even without a CL tropy he handled the sanction so well and you really think we could compete head to head with City and Pool?! What in the world are you talking about? I’m not mentioning City or Liverpool because we’re a million miles off of them over a full season. I’m on about games like today, where we’re being embarrassed by a team we finished 14 places above. Tuchel hasn’t got a clue how to adapt if plan A doesn’t go well - and a lot of the time plan A has some ludicrous choices anyway.

Aaronson plays RW or attacking mid for us. He can play all over the front. But he is coming into his own as our best attacking mid. We will start him and Adams in the middle with Pulisic onvthe left and either Gio Reyna or Tim Weah on the right.

August 21, 20223 yr Not one player had a switch on before the first half whistle. Everyone was poor and everyone, including Tuchel, were not ready. Getting outdone by a bloke from Racine, Wisconsin. 🤡

A half fit Kante is terrible, which we saw many times last season. It wouldn't be an issue if Kovacic didn't have the same issues, but at the same time, if we can't handle filling in one position in the team without the whole team breaking down, then we have no chance of making top 4.
