It's one thing fans taking a more realistic outlook but it's a slippery slope if players/managers start doing it, United for example have got so infested with the top 4 mentality Ten Hag has been talking that up as the aim before kick off. Think it's the reason we didn't win the league in Jose mk2 season 1. Seemingly endless comments about how we weren't good enough to win.

August 13, 20232 yr Today was the first time I saw him play like he does for Argentina. This was the Enzo I was looking forward to seeing.
August 13, 20232 yr What a player. He could be a Chelsea legend in time. Would like to see 5-10 goals and assists this year minimum.
August 13, 20232 yr The only signing where I basically said pay 100m pay it all he's worth it and yes he really is. Even though we didn't win, because of Enzo we were in the commanding position throughout the match which hasn't been the case in the prior years with Jorginho, Kante and so on. I imagine once Poch starts playing a back 4 formation that it's then we'll see a lot of goals and assists coming from every angle. Edited August 13, 20232 yr by Gol15

August 13, 20232 yr With the Caicedo deal happening people have been saying Enzo isn't worth the money we paid for and this performance again shows the player we bought! He'll be even more dangerous with a DM beside him.

August 13, 20232 yr I think we got more control of the game when he started coming more deeper. I know he said he wants to play more further forward but this is where coaches need to save players from themselves, from a deeper position he can dictate the flow of games to a level very very very few can.
August 13, 20232 yr Best player in the team for me, fantastic player he is. Hope I'm not getting too far ahead of myself but I always feel confident when he gets on the ball, I haven't felt like that about a player since Hazard and Fabregas.

At this point, I think we should have paid more for him. It's what I keep saying about these player prices. No one really gives a sh*t as soon as the player starts producing on a world class level. Those price tags get forgotten pretty quickly. No one remembers how much VVD or Allisson cost Liverpool anymore (as opposed to Kepa's price tag with us). No one cares how much Madrid paid for Bellingham anymore and it's still early. No one cares what astronomical wages City are paying Haaland, he probably deserves more. I can go on and on. Enzo is an absolute top drawer player. When he gets paird with Caicedo, we'll see even more production from him. And this isn't a slight on Gallagher, btw, who was fantastic today. Caicedo just offers even more. Exciting times ahead for us. Enzo is doing justice to that No. 8.

He's basically a Pirlo + Fabregas hybrid (with a sprinkle of Ramires) and will absolutely prove it with the right guidance. Seems like Poch is doing that for him so far.
August 13, 20232 yr Love his technical ability, love his vision, love his passing, love his fire. He's alright is our Enzo.
August 13, 20232 yr A fantastic footballer. Sometimes you do get what you pay for... Edited August 13, 20232 yr by 2211
August 14, 20232 yr World class .. this is what a proper midfielder looks like.. massive massive yesterday..

His passing range has always been obvious but i was left speechless by his control and dribbling ability, like you say. Had two men close him down and easily evaded them both multiple times. Huge player.
August 14, 20232 yr Yeah, he was pretty much unplayable in the second half. A few little drag-backs/tricks to completely drop his marker(s) in midfield. We just need to find that same level of composure in the final third. Such a shame Nkunku got injured.

August 14, 20232 yr Likely going to turn out to be one of the best signings of the last decades. If Poch manages to get this squad firing on all cylinders and Enzo manages to stay injury-free and productive in terms of goals and assists, he is likely going to be considered the best midfielder in football by many.
