November 12, 20232 yr Effort was there, but just not playing well. The number of times he lost possession in good area or ran straight into defenders are just ridiculous. In this type of open game, as soon as you lose possession, you are on the back foot of being countered and potentially a goal against you. Mudryk has very little composure or skill with the ball, maybe he's a good fit for a counter attacking team, but just not good enough for us right now.

Sometimes we are too quick to write a player off. He needs lots of time and work. Hopefully he lives up to his potential.
November 13, 20232 yr "Mudryk has very little composure or skill with the ball, maybe he's a good fit for a counter attacking team, but just not good enough for us right now." I thought he did fantastic on Jackson's goal, occupied 3 defenders (maybe even a fourth), and slipped a nice ball across. Showed both skill and composure, what he needs is consistency. Gallagher's shot worked there, but the better option probably is finding Sterling.

The problem with Mudryk imo is not his composure or skill. He is more than good enough to play. Heck, he is probably the fastest player in PL right now.
November 13, 20232 yr As usual, his passing/vision/whatever you want to call it is very good. Just needs to keep his dribbling very simple and to a minimal.
November 13, 20232 yr It frustrates me how he can’t really beat a man with dribbling. As soon as he tries to take a player on you just know he’s going to lose the ball. Personally I don’t think he’s good enough and it’s embarrassing we spent so much on him.

The problem is he think he can take on anybody at anytime.
November 13, 20232 yr He'll be fine. The squad now has a settled starting XI, the confidence is rising and he'll be able to express himself further. Let's not be too hasty.
November 13, 20232 yr Took Martinelli 3 seasons in England before he produced anything of note for Arsenal. Similar levels of experience for each player before they came to the Prem. We've got Sterling/Palmer performing and Nkunku to come back. No need to try to force things with Mudryk yet, patience will be key to reaping the rewards with him.

All he need to is stop trying to be cr7/Neymar and just play football.
November 15, 20232 yr My 2 pennies... he doesn't get given the ball or played in as often as he should... he's there and ready and I think he could probably do more damage if he was given the ball earlier... etc.

Right now its either full pace run at the defence or pass backwards.. he needs to try to link up, take a few touches and let the game develop etc..

He's clearly not ready now though, we see it every game. Flashes of brilliance with 80 minutes of losing the ball. It will get better with time and training, however there's no way he should be starting any important games over Palmer, Sterling or Nkunku out wide. Have patience, its not going to change overnight.

It's a massive stretch to say we see flashes of brilliance every game from Mudryk. I'm not sure we see much brilliance or talent from him at all People everywhere myself included panned Anthony Gordon when we were linked with him but he looks a much better prospect than Mudryk and you can see him developing as one. Mudryk has 0 chance of ever being good enough to be a squad player at this level without improving his close control

Mudryk has 0 chance of ever being good enough to be a squad player at this level without improving his close control Gordon is substantially better under Eddie Howe, now an ongoing threat instead of an undisciplined ratbag albeit it with potential. He was frequently a bench player at Everton. Put it down to game time, experience and, most of all, coaching. Give Mudryk the same and we'll see.
November 21, 20232 yr Denied a pretty obvious penalty last night v Italy. A night of bizarre penalties and non-penalties across the board.

I understand why VAR did not overturn that.

November 22, 20232 yr That's a shocking decision. Hard to argue that there aren't external influences at play when you see stuff like this going on ...

No more absurd than the penalty decisions in the England game where nothing was at stake. It's incompetence spreading like Covid.

I don't like it, something comforting about you giving someone both barrels...
