Mykhailo Mudryk signs for Chelsea

I felt for him because he's been trying, but just not good enough. He's 23, not a 18 year old kid just in his first season. He only played 40 something games before his arrival, and that's a serious flaw somehow overlooked by our scouting teams. At his age, expect an established player heading towards the prime, can't hide behind the 'promising young player with a bright future' tag. In hindsight, better off for everyone had he gone to Arsenal, he won't feel so pressured to prove himself since the team was on a good run, and we would have used to money for better ( or worse 🙄) players.

And despite this he's still putting in better performances than Sterling and Palmer in the past 2/3 games. Bit of a worrying reflection on our other attackers, no?

Agree, he has outperformed both sterling and palmer but he need to do more. He is receiving the ball high with Enzo receiving to feed him. It is a bit similar to puli role under Lamp. You need to get number playing this role.

I'd be seeing if RB Leipzig were up for a January swap with Timo at this point.

I'd love that but there's not one point in Mudryks career he's ever looked half the player Timo was for us let alone at his best.

He's as quick as they come but there's absolutely no footballing ability there to work on,  will never be as good as some like Adama Traore but because we paid a huge fee and he's fast people want to pretend there's some hidden talent in there.

Good passing and vision, creates good chances when he's not trying to dribble like Messi.

I look at his fee as being a covert CIA contribution to the Ukraine war effort. It was actually £10m for his footballing skills plus £52m for weapons. When you view him as a £10m player then he's not so bad LOL 🙂

Mudryk could have the passing, vision and awareness of Messi and he'd still be a bad player.

Because he struggles to actually control the ball,  the primary skill of any decent premier league player (Sans Lukaku) is a first touch once you control the ball you can bring your other skills into play but Mudryk doesn't get that far often because his touch is loose, his body shape is wrong after he's controlled it, he either mis controls it or by the time he's managed to get it under control he doesn't have the angle for the pass.

His pace is special but I don't understand how we signed a 22 year old with such poor basic technique.

Mudryk does have his occasional good moments, but I don't think anywhere near enough to be starting regularly. As far as I see it he has 2 main issues:

1) Lack of control and wastefulness with the ball, often he has used his pace to work some space behind the defense.

2) Consistently fails to track his marker and is a liability when asked to defend.

In time he may improve in both these areas, and I think there would be less focus on his performances if he had cost somewhere near the same Madueke. But with the amount we spent I think most fans expect much more.

With so many players injured, he has had a fair few opportunities in recent weeks and hasn't overly impressed. I think when more attacking options are available, he will likely return to the bench.

That shot which nearly went out for a throw is very reminiscent of the one Salah had for us, shortly before he left.

It's very hard to see there being any other similarities between their careers, but you just know as soon as we get rid, he'll suddenly be good.

I think I’m either blind or delusional, I haven’t watched the game back but from what I saw I thought he did okay?

Fell off a bit second half but I thought he was showing some more signs of confidence, beating his man consistently and causing problems. Yeah he gave the ball away but it seemed to be as a result of trying to make something happen!

Im sure I’ll come to regret this when I watch it back in the week

I'd take that if Timo is fit, no joke

Even one of the match commentator was saying United should be happy just to let him cut inside, because he'd mess it up anyway, and he did

He was fine, put in some good balls into the box that Jackson didn't seem ready for.

Second half his chemistry with everyone else took a nosedive, summed up by him making a really good run in behind and Caicedo completely ignoring him and passing back instead. You could see the frustration in his face and he was shortly subbed up after that.

He directed some nice low crosses into the box first half. But it looked as though he wasn't really looking up when he made those plays, which may explain why they didn't find any of our players.

A big part of wing play is beating your man and putting it into a dangerous area quickly (rather than then taking the time to look up and find a man), which I think he’s started doing really well.

Sadly our forwards don’t tend to anticipate this much so it ends up going past.

Its exactly what Sterling did for the palmer goal, thankfully palmer made a good move and got on the end of it.

Took his goal and penalty well , had one excellent cross but then also a couple of terrible ones. Today sums up his Chelsea career so far some very good moments mixed with dreadful.

The talent is clear is to see and has been since day one.

I haven't been convinced by Mudryk and I am still not sure if he will end up fulfilling his potential. That being said I am very happy for him today after the encouraging cameo, and I hope he is able to gain confidence and build on this. Certainly feels like it could be a turning point in his career at Chelsea.

Having watched it again, it was a better finish than people gave him credit for. We have seen easier chances been missed, he took it well. No need to feed Mudryk, just pick off scraps from Trippier
