I think he is playing in the right position but the tactical instructions or set up don’t seem to align for me.

Clearly poch wants him to utilise skill and pace to beat his man and create dangerous situations.

but I don’t see us creating enough situations for our forwards where they are isolated with their  fullbacks in the opposition

I don’t understand why this is confusing you ?

I rarely see us isolate fullbacks, some fans think pur wingers can just magically beat 2 to 3 players every game and wip a dangerous cross in. Only Sterling I have seen do that consistently this season.

It got nothing to do with tactical instruction.

I don't want to go into detail because I need to take a lot of screenshot to show it. Basically Mudryk need a lot of work in term of finding separation.

Furthermore, you don't want Mudryk to isolate vs fb unless there is a big space behind him. He is not really a dribbler, he is fast though so he is very good at attacking space.

Basically then we are saying the same thing..  I don’t think Mudryk’s strength is to be a dribbler .. watching the match it seems he has been asked to do more of it .. and ends up forcing it.. my reason to believe this is because of Poch’s comments on Sterling early in the season and also how all are wingers try to dribble so much and hardly ever link up with our fullbacks..

Im still surprised at how bloody fast he is. Certainly caught palace out a few times last night. Slowly settling into life in west London. good stuff from him recently. team is finding a wavelength with him.

Slow progress but still progress regardless.

I've noticed he's been less erratic than usual and understanding the defensive pressure around him. Maybe it is just a matter of time and experience and it could potentially click for him. He's looked extremely raw many times and plays like he's up against League two opposition with acres of space.

Anyway, good first half from him at the very least. I'm hoping more comes.

Forcing tryin to dribble through everyone is not tactical problem, that is player decision.

Imo tactically poch has put Mudryk in very good position to succeed.

Did we?

If it wasn't for the transfer fee I don't think anyone would think there's much talent there at all.

For me Mudryk is a very low ceiling player we've seen plenty of extremely quick wingers over the years who don't have the technical ability or the understanding of the game to be effective and almost all of them never develop what they lack.

Mudryk lacks both.

I said this at the start of the season.  Hasn't changed.  Won't change.

But because he's young, fast and cost a lot of money 3 things that will always draw more patience and people will continue to say there's a player there but he's miles away technically, mentally and tactically from even being a squad player at PL.

He's not even that young that's the thing. He can still improve but Palmer is 2 years younger and looks leagues ahead of him.

Castledine looked technically better than him in his brief cameo. Awful 45 mins tonight from him.

Would love him to come good but he always looks a bit shocked by how fast and physical the game is. Seems to want that extra nano-second on the ball which you just don't get in English football. He rarely looks like he has any belief in himself.

Arsenal still want him? I think he's had long enough now. He doesn't suit English football. I said it in the match thread, he would be fine in the Bundesliga playing on the shoulder of a highline, but a bit like Sancho, English football isn't for him. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he looked like a different player playing for a team like Dortmund.

Yeah I think it’s time to cut our losses. We don’t get anything from him and he hasn’t really shown what he can do over the past year.

Accept we’ve made a mistake and start looking for a replacement, even someone like Jack Harrison would be a big upgrade.

Think we sell him either this summer or 2025.

I still think he can be a top player but my god that performance today was a painful watch, not even just individual errors but tactically he just had no idea where he was supposed to be it was like he was concussed, I feel like I could ask him what he's been up to tonight and he'd have no recollection of playing a football match.

Felt like Pochettino subbed him at half-time as an act of pity. He was having a nightmare out there. Don’t think he managed a pass or a meaningful action in 45 mins of football. Has actually gone backwards as a player over the last year. Really don’t know where he goes from here. A loan abroad maybe. But he is so out of his depth that it’s only the huge fee that is obliging Pochettino to persist with him.

Seems a bit thick.

Starting to remind me of an interview Tony Pulis did talking about Adama Traore. Said he had the physical attributes to be a monster, could be quite tidy with the ball but didn’t have a clue about the game and how to play it.

Pulis used to swap the wingers at half time to keep Adama on his side so he could coach him through.

Does seem like that’s where mudryk is lacking, just a general understanding of how to craft situations to show his skill.

Although, those hoping we sell him will be gutted as we won’t get much for him so would probably be taking a substantial ffp book loss that we can’t afford. A loan makes more sense but the headlines write themselves if we do it

That's only half the problem though.

Mudryk is nowhere near as talented as Adama Traore. He's like Adama if he lost all his strength and his dribbling ability.

Mudryk dribbles like a centre back he can't beat a man with the ball at his feet to save his life.
